    If you decide to try this again, consider trying some masking tape or something for the larger parts and only using the rubber paint for the edges and more complex forms. Could save you some time and money.

    Nice job so far! Funny, I've also been trying to do some very broadstrokes zenithal/slapchop on regular 28mm and 54mm models with only minimal success. Contrast/ Speedpaints over a standard zenithal. The small size doesn't really lend itself to any real degree of "accurate" rattle can spraying and I'm too heavy handed, at least so far. Khaki highlights over an olive or dark brown primer/basecoat then some wash kinda "works" but needs some refinement on my part. Looking forward to more videos!

    Well, I *do* own an airbrush and I still use spray cans for priming and varnishing.
    Mostly because of my ancient janky compressor that is really really loud, doesn't have an air reservoir and doesn't even have an on/off switch so I have to unplug it to turn off.

    I've just been looking at an airbrush, as it seems in the UK, without a garage, you can only prime with aerosol on a sunny calm day. Great for summer, not any other time.
    I'm using a cheap light tent as a booth and tried a rechargeable airbrush, which is pretty naff. I'm saving for a better one now.
    I've seen slapchop mentioned a lot recently and don't know what it is.

    • @LizardofDoom
      @LizardofDoom  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The slap chop method is spraying black then dry brushing grey and then white to get the colour brightness values on the model then going over with contrast and calling it done because in theory your highlights, shadows and mid tones should already be on the model 🙂

    I really enjoy watching your videos and the way you present your content. A little serious, a little tongue in cheek, and not afraid to show your mistakes.
    If I might say, I find the volume on the music a bit distracting and taking away from enjoying the video. Sometimes it's a bit tough to hear what you're saying. I'd say try and reduce the volume a wee bit on the music and see if people like it better? I know I would.

U can just use grey all around and use with scar just ln top, and use some nun oil or over recess shade/ contrast or even tamiya panel line for details.

    "Citadel spray paints are quite satin"
    And? You're varnishing right? RIGHT?

      nah, i try not to get my cheeto fingers on them and pick them up by the bases :)

    • @ColonelSandersLite
      @ColonelSandersLite ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@LizardofDoom Cheeto fingers have jack to do with anything. Is art handled with cheeto fingers? No. Do we varnish art? Yes.
      I'm going to make this really damn simple here - The no varnish thing is a unique artifact of the miniature painting bubble. The only other medium I can think of where this is a thing is watercolor. There, it's protected with a sheet of glass.
      I went though that stupid phase myself in the late 90s to early 00s. Guess what? Everything I painted back then that saw any real use is chipped and worn and yellowed. Today, I'm having to repaint all of that shit. It sucks. Fortunately, I pulled my head out of my ass at some point.
      So - Do you want your work to last? It's a hell of a lot of work painting things. Be a shame to just waste the effort because you have to repaint it. You know what's worse than the wasted effort though? You lose your record of progress. You can never get it back either.
