Cap, step up 2 had the best story hands down lol. A classic misfits coming together mixed with an underdog story, plus the characters are probably overall the best in the series. Actually I take characters back as the opposing crew came off a bit much now that I’m thinking. Idk about dancing either, I think all In might have the best dancing imo. It gets points because of Moose and Andy they’re both arguably the best characters in the series.

This was easily my favorite movie when I grew up, if I had to make a guess I'd say I watched this movie at least 15 times over the years. I just LOVE the vibes of it. The whole theme of what music means to the characters and their family-like bond is just chefs kiss.

I’m pretty sure dancing in the crew was part of their job because they had competed in competitions to have had a rivalry. Im pretty sure it was stated that they do bring in money as a dance crew but not much to fully support everyone on top of the place. But Moose being a main character and the feel of the movie does bring it up.
Please do step up 4 and Step Up All in. The story continues with Moose plus there's some characters from the previous movies that come back. Its definitely worth watching!

I’m with you but replace 3 with 2 😂. Three is good but 2 is slightly better in terms of story. Take or replace moose and his storyline and it’s significantly worse I can’t say the same for the others in terms of characters and story. Then you start to realize just how weak the movie is in comparison to the others. I still think 3 is better than 1 and 4 tho. Moose carries 3 a bit too hard compared to his other appearances. 5 gets bonus points for having the best dance battles and having Andy who is probably the best character after moose across the series.
Fun fact: the dancer at 3:40 from the samurai crew and the dancer doing the contorting on the right in the white top w short black hair at 21:46 were married at the time! He also directed and danced in the music video for “stay the night” by zedd and she was in the music video for “salt” by bad suns!

These movies helped me cope a lot and were just a really good time. I cried when the final one aired (I watched most of them in theaters and then again at home, but yeah had to catch it in theaters) I actually cried because I was like, dang... it's really over. The step up movies are amazing, definitely 5 is my fav especially with the last dance. There is also Step Up: High Water, which curently has 2 seasons. Third has been in production for a while. I hope they will still release it. It started as TH-cam original tv series, just like Cobra Kai back in the days. But since they are making all the music themelves. It's not propably that easy. But it really is worth watching. I love it. There are some amazing people just like Jade Chynoweth, Petrice Jones. I think it might become your favourite from them all. It's not skipping some interesting parts like they are doing in the movies. It's a rollercoaster. Such underrated tv series for sure.
