They removed the 13 km. In BMQ you will do a 3 km at 35lb no rifle, 5km at 41lb and 8km at 41lb with the rifle. The c7 only weighs about 7lbs

@Cortizo quite a bit. We actually get 7 full hours to sleep, they put some decent limitations on corrective measures, the building looks quite different, the course content has been updated which is understandable given this was nearly 15 years ago. Of course I'm only technically week 5 due to rona, I've been home nearly 5 months, and its going to be all kinds of different with rona measures when I go back (monday). I haven't seen the full content of the course yet but when I am done ill come back and give you another update on what else is different.

@Cortizo id advise you to put in your app now if you're serious. Theres a huge backlog and if you decided to join next year you'd probably be waiting a while to actually get there. I was lucky, wrote my CFAT and got in within a month, but many of the people I know waited 6months to a year to get their call. The application process is pretty long anyway, if you decided to change your mind you would have ample time to do it. Also, do some serious research into the jobs you'd be interested in and their availability.

@@terencemostoles4049 my medical has been in Ottawa since Jan 14th. As far as the recruiters know there hasn't been any flags, so I hope you don't end up waiting that long!

Just done basic 2 months ago, way easier now. There wasn’t too many/hard beastings. The physical part was easy, we did 3km,5km ruck marches with I think our first one being 15lbs and the other 35lbs. The most was at Farnham with around 70lbs and we walked around everywhere so at least 20km or more. Also our jogging pt was 7km max, very easy especially for the infantry guys, they even asked to put more weight on or walk farther😂

Holy shit, that Sergeant does the 13km ruck march *with* the fuckin Platoon? Every time? Or just this time for the camera? Because if it's every time, that's pretty badass. Even for the camera only, that's one hell of a choice.

All the Sergeant’s mastercorporal’s corporals if they give you a exercise punishment they have to do it too. And for the ruck marches they have to join to supervise. And it’s good to lead by example

Its honestly not that bad. When you are used to it you can do 15-20kms full load no problem. But when its your FIRST time, 13km seems like a lot.

Ya that was pretty good of Jaworski doing the march with them in full gear. Also was supportive with all the pep talks and encouragements. (McGillivary)

Bruh my WO did a 12k with my platoon. We got pushed and looking back on it, I'm glad they tested us with that.

Aren’t the drill instructors supposed to weed out the weak candidates instead of mothering of fathering a struggling candidate……
He should be telling her the white van is waiting for her in the back of the line.

It's Basic, not the SEALs. They're not there to weed out the weak, they're there to get strong-enough people ready for service. Part of that is learning to dig for strength. Part of that is learning to support somebody when they need it. Especially when they're sick during a crucible-like event. Or at least that's my take, but I haven't even done Basic... yet :D

@@BCsJonathanTM yes and no. They actually do weed out the weak candidates during the first phase of BMQ. For the second phase, they get more invested in your success. But all in all, it's a case by case type thing. They know the difference between someone who's shown motivation and drive in the past and is just going through a down vs someone who's just dicking around and doing the bare minimum. They'll encourage the former and verbally thrash the latter.
