Buying a Contax T2? Consider the original Contax T instead (full review)

  • In this video, I review the original Contax T and share some sample images that I captured during a snowstorm in Revelstoke, BC. I much prefer the value of the Contax T over the T2, but overall I would recommend picking up an Olympus XA2 over either of the Contax models.
I also go through how to load the Contax T with film, which proves itself to be very tricky to complete on the go compared to most other point-and-shoot film cameras.
What is your go to point-and-shoot film camera? Have you ever been to Revelstoke? Let's chat in the comment section!
Bonus Tip: If you're like me and you love taking film photos in the snow, you might be dissapointed when you roll comes back underexposed and washed out. Try overexposing by a stop or two next time - it really works!
    Thanks for watching!

    I liked the tea lol
Edit: how would you compare this to a Nikon 35ti? I'm in between the contax t and 35ti

Haha thanks Santiago! Definitely getting more comfortable on camera and it shows in this video.
As for the 35Ti, I have yet to shoot with it but I have read some great things. It has an autofocus system and the flash is built in, which are great features in a point-and-shoot.
Between the Contax T and Nikon 35Ti, I would give the 35Ti a go. Let me know what you end up getting!

The Contax T is a very good pocket camera, with all of the virtues he notes. It's current negatives are its age, 35+ years, posing a risk of failure. deadly for a camera which because of its high price sold very few with very low prospect of repair (no parts at all), and the funky film loading procedure, which is practically identical to the Rollei 35 models. The positives are a tough titanium body shell and a very good lens (exactly the same lens as the T2). Priced about 40% of the T2 these days. Nice video.

Thanks so much man! It really takes amazing images, and other than the focus + aperture ring, it feels great in the hands.

@@maximvidricaire yeah the focus is a bit awkward. I usually just use my thumb instead of using my thumb and index finger together. Just using my thumb feels more comfortable.

@@AlexanderHernandez-sb7lq That’s a good point, I’ll have to give that a try on the next roll. Thanks man!
