    I have watched a lot of TH-cam videos on composition, but this is probably the most informative and practical one that I have seen concerning the challenges of landscape photography. Thanks to B&H and Robert Rodriguez Jr for an excellent lecture.

    Robert has a real artsists way of explaining everything. Far superior to other lectures I have seen here. The ones where there are two people fighting to talk is silly. This guy is top! No doubt because of his background in music!

    As a comparative, I am embryonic in my photographic life, while Robert has matured to the point of advancing his wonderful, hard-earned "tool-set" to the point of focus that evidently and consistently runs through every image he takes. At 66 years of age I appreciate my good fortune to have taken up photography at a time when my life-journey intersects with Robert's. I thoroughly enjoyed viewing this workshop! Most good lessons have a degree of difficulty as part of the price, and to be able to gain so much insight with so little effort is a blessing. Thank you for the generous sharing, Robert.

      Robert Rodriguez Jr great lecture!! I love how you compare a great photograph to music, living and breathing, so to speak. This will really help me improve my compositions. My biggest problem is patience. As a bird photographer I am engaged and excited in the results I have captured over the years. For the landscape shooter, the instant gratification is not as pronounced as it is with wildlife. You can hike 4 miles to a location and the clouds are not cooperating etc and you don’t take a single image. I think the rewards are amazing, but my biggest struggle is the patience required to get a great landscape image. I’m working on this!! Thanks again!!

    What a fantastic talk! Love Robert's approach to photography, less technical mumbo jumbo and more artsy and harmonious elements that really brings his photography to life and helps us understand a lot more about the whole process of CREATING a photo, not taking a photo.
    Thank you Robert, you just earned another fan.

    Great lecture. I've been struggling to figure out what makes good landscape photographs for several years, watching lots of videos, spending a fair amount of money on books by name authors and you gave me more to think about in this video than any of the books or videos. While I don't expect that the next time I go out that I'll be taking Ansel Adam's quality photos I certainly have tools to significantly improve my photography.

  • @colintomjenkins
    @colintomjenkins 6 ปีที่แล้ว

    I enjoyed this very much, especially the musical analogies. With respect to Lightroom/Photoshop mentioned towards the end and continuing with the musical theme, it doesn't seem unreasonable to think of the raw file as a musical score and the processed image as a performance; which like a musical performances can varied and highly individualistic; with no particular spot in performance space being 'correct' (including in-camera performances). Which also reveals how inane the 'only SOOC is correct' ideology is.
