I was lucky enough to catch her show in Salt Lake City back in 2015(?) I was 17 or 18. It was last minute that I found out she was gonna be in SLC and was trying to get ANY friend to go with me and everyone was busy. I asked this kid from my math class to come with me, even though we hadn't hungout before that. He was probably not expecting this type of music haha the whole crowd was a vibe. They were just passing joints and everyone was loving and happy. Best concert I'd ever been to. Good times.
Wow Annie is maturing into herself very nicely. I remember her persona from 10 years ago was so much more tense, conceptual, and rigid. It's fun to watch her play around and be a goofy weirdo now. Thank you for posting this, I haven't been to a St. V concert in a decade.
Sorry, but I disagree. She was authentic at Strange Mercy Tour. Already at the Masseduction tour I didn't like the show: drowned in light and effects. Now its only bling bling and effects. It matches the spirit of the decade she is referring to but her strength is to transcend the subjects she use in an intelligent way. Here she just plays. Its a huge step back in her conceptional continuity. I love her Daddy's Home album to pieces but the show is lacking everything you should expect from a witty person she is. I am sure she is aware of it now and feels uncomfortable about it. She should start making a new album, touring the clubs again and writing books. Icons can get eaten up by success. Kim Gordon never felt for it.
Disagree, kinda. She has evolved through stages, experimenting with different personas and accompaniments. In 2008 and 2009 she was a genius nerd, totally comfortable in her own skin, doing really innovative things that were pure and unadulterated with show-biz sensibility. I'm not knocking her 'productions' in recent years. Still love her but preferred the work and performances of the brilliant and earnest twenty-five year old Annie.
Watch "St. Vincent - Dig A Pony - 2/27/2009 - Great American Music Hall" , I don't think she's even played guitar properly in the past 5 years which is sad, she took the robotic aesthetic to the shows too which imo is terrible for the energy of the performance, works for the music videos though. Idk how you think she used to be rigid, she became rigid imo (not as much here as Mass seduction tour but e.g. the Los ageless rendition in this show lacks the energy that made it so great.)
Somehow I suspect that things will NOT be this intimate when I see Annie open for Roxy Music in New York City next month, but thanks for getting me psyched--and for reminding me that it's always worth catching her live. (Not true of all artists. Love me some Halsey, Charlie XCX, Courtney Barnett, Bikini Kill, and Mitski, but none of their recent live shows added much to the experience for me, and I'm not going to bother shelling out to see them in concert again.)

There wasn’t enough time between this show and the next gig in Roskilde to transport all of their gear (Brexit issue), so in order to move forward with both the band had to do a bit of a stripped-down performance. Also FYI, 18:35 is just an intro to New York (not a cover) , 25:35 is called “…At the Holiday Party”, and 54:25 is “This Is Love”. Thanks for leaving the timestamps!
After seeing so many concerts from the 'Daddy's Home' tour, the mishap of costumes, sets, electrified instruments getting waylaid turned out to be a blessing. Authentic Annie, rather than showbiz Annie graces us. Sublime.....and the encore!
All other concerts on Daddy's Home Tour included sets, lighting effects, outfits and wigs, and electrified instruments. The transport for all that got waylaid and didn't arrive in Bexhill in time for performance. @@JewishJeff839
