I guess I got lucky and met a Unicorn. I started chatting with a young 21 year old Filipina that my friends wife had as a schoolmate and friend, that introduced us to each other. After a few months of letters and phone calls I went to the Philippines to meet her. She seemed like what I wanted and we got along great. When I returned home after the initial visit I started the paperwork to bring her here on the fiancee visa. Long story short is that she was 22 when she arrived here and I was 47. She finished her education here and is a school teacher now, and has been a great wife to me. That was by the way 25 years ago. The age gap of 25 years between us has never been an issue. I originally was looking for a woman closer to my age but they all came with too much baggage and kids. I decided to set my sites to a younger woman to avoid the baggage and kids. We could not be happier, so what your were saying may be true most of the time, but I will stand up to say it is not true all the time, there are Unicorns out there if you're lucky enough to find one.
I was gonna say 25 years ago. Immigration takes slightly longer now. She'd probably be there at 23 from 21 initial meeting if you did it today. Still man, that's good to hear and did she get citizenship after the 3rd year? or when did she apply after getting there? and how was that process?
@@blockaderunner She did apply after three years but the paperwork and appointments and interviews delayed the swearing in ceremony for almost another year, but she was a citizen before she was here for the full four years and got her USA passport, later she traveled to Washington to apply for her dual citizenship.
You did find a unicorn. My American friend that happens to be Filipino was married twice. Both times his Philippine wife cheated on him immediately after the marriage. She wasn’t into the marriage because she loved her husband. She was into the marriage to get a green guard. Both these women were college educated and had good jobs. They just didn’t have their permanent residence yet. The first wife, especially was one giant grift. My friend found out she used him to get her green card because in the background she had a boyfriend that was using a woman to get his green guard. When they both received their green cards. They dumped their partners and got back together. Her A-hole boyfriend actually called my friend and told him your wife is going to divorce you and marry me. Yes you got unicorn. There’s a lot of trash out there too.
That was 25 years ago, things have changed totally with all the online dating, social media, tik tok etc, girls are obsessed with being seen and martialism now and outdoing the other on social media.
99,000 subscribers, only a heartbeat away from that big number. I've been watching your videos since you were a small time player but now you're gonna be in the big leagues. You could hold a master class on how to run a youtube channel without getting too crazy about it. Thanks for all the great videos and I'll be here for many more.
My wife and I have a 40 year age gap. We've done everything thing the vloggers said not to do and we're still pretty darn happy. The key is choosing wisely 😊
Man has been with younger women since eons of time That's how it has always been and all I can say is enjoy your life what time you have here because it definitely will be gone in a moment.
When I first started to court my wife, I figured she was mid-30s (I randomly found her here on TH-cam as she live streamed her food vending service). Turns out she's mid-40s! I'm 52 and she's 46 and we're like 2 peas in a pod. And she has an amazing daughter with high honors in the 12th grade. I love them both so much!
Congratulations Warren! My wife looks 17, but is 34. I made her show me her birth certificate to prove it. I fell in love with her smile, but the rest of the package is magnificent.
@@GizmoMaltese not for long. See, even police officers and our local state prosecutor are afraid of me for some reason. How is your love life? Single, or harassed and disrespected? HA!
I'm 60 ( I feel like 40) Asian/American retired and living here in Cebu City. I have a live-in girlfriend from the province who is 24 years old ( with no kids). I'm living the best time of my life now and she makes me feels appreciated daily (without having to tell me), ( I've been dating in Thailand and The Philippines for over 20+ years). I don't judge anyone and don't care about their age gap,,,, I think it is how you handle it, I told her if she find someone else better than me, please go to him and leave me. Because I can go find another girlfriend who I know that can appreciates me. My observation is that province girl is the way to go, instead of city girls. I don't like older women (35+) , because they know how to plot murders.
I agree...initially I was chatting with younger women and then met a 41 yr old widow..we've been chatting day and night since....never asks for anything and is very caring and just wants to make sure I took my meals and how I slept. She gets mad when I tell her I ate my dinner very late... told me it's not healthy to do that, then wants to know if I'm eating right and taking care of myself. She is nature and in my mind at this point. Very hot. This is a far cry from the first 22 yr old I met who just wanted me to come and take her exploring the Philippines and buy her an IPhone...I don't even have an IPhone as an android user...lol. your video was spot on. Thank you Paul
Great talk Paul! This has been on my mind recently for reasons I won’t go into. The one thing that may be a more in depth conversation about the economics of the situation, that could fall into young or old looking for a sugar daddy or ATM. Especially if they have kids to feed. You as a guy come here confident you can support yourself comfortably and a Filipina wife. You fall into the wrong trap of guilt, sympathy, being kind hearted… and suddenly you are supporting 5 to 10 or more people and family emergencies. Suddenly after a year of “dating” you realize you have been set up to be a bank account. Some women are specifically “targeting” foreigners with a steady flow of income or pension… whether you think it’s a match made in heaven or not, she sure does. She just won the lotto and if you want to break it off,, she is not going to make it easy for you to walk away. I’m guessing I’m not alone on this and I don’t know how much age gap makes a difference on the economic value of snaring a foreigner. Maybe a part 2 to go a bit deeper other than maturity level. Title: “When a Foreigner Becomes A Trophy” (what’s love got to do with it) 😂
So true! Maturity is a must. My fiance was 48 widowed, I was 61 divorced. 1 year and 5 months later she has her visa for USA. She will be here first week of October. She is beautiful, loving with traditional values. We will spend time at both places. You won't regret it.
Spot on Old Dog! Met my wife of five years now on TAG(2016). My first profile on TAG didn't stipulate age. All I got was replies from young girls. Changed it to fifty and above and still got tons of responses, only closer to my own age (59 at the time). As you said, Filipinas retain their youthful appearance, and they usually have already had children and raised them. My wife is now a US citizen here in the US, we just returned from Cebu where we participated in her youngest daughter's wedding. You can't imagine how great it is to be part of a Filipino family, truly amazing.
I guess I met a unicorn of a different kind. I met a 43 year old. I was 63 at the time. Her hair was shorter and colored like so many ladies do in the PI. She was looking for gifts, for house and lot, for just about anything. Be advised. Just because they are older doesn’t mean you are out of danger.
3:06 Yea! I had that experience too the first time I went to Angeles. I was 40 and I ended up with 21 year old Tamara Mowry in my room. It was the most surreal experience. I knew a girl like that wouldn't even give me the time of day in the states. Even if I was her age. She literally looked like Tia or Tamera. And I was balls deep in that.
I began talking to my now Filipina wife back in March of 2009 and chatted with her till 2013 when I made my first trip to see her. I screened out many from 2008 till 2009 online before having to change my search perimeters that you discussed in your video today Paul. We married in 2016 and have 3 kids
Out of curiosity, I've noticed that nearly all the Filipinas I'm finding online want (more) kids, regardless of their age. How have you dealt with this?
Hi Paul, thank you for sharing so much experiences & valuable information. I'm 64 & will be returning for my 4th time. I see I'm not the only one that seems to get ones self into complicated situations. I like your reference to ones reptilian part of the brain
HI PAUL , As your number 1 CRAZY PERSON aka FAN , I want to THANK YOU for being HONEST and telling us about your early dating experiences in the PHILS. Since I am a long time sub , I know you have mentioned this in earlier videos. In my mid 50 s till about 60 ish , a LOT of older women HIT on me LOL. Even at their age group , between 70 to 75 , they wanted to know what kind of watch iI wore , my car , my job , my salary etc. GOD BLESS CIAO
Paul you can never be the fool. Just keep in mind that you are the catch. If she really wants to be with you then let her work for it and prove to you that she is the one. You really don’t have to do anything because you the one who is financially stable.
The man tells truth, you can play with them young ones but don't make the mistake of buy in full Monty. The young ones are just insane and that cellphone they are glued to is the primary source of the disease.
My Filipina is 14 years younger than me (I'm 69). I made a great choice, family oriented and head on straight. Young ones are nice to look at, but I had a cut off for age as compared to mine. It worked. This subject is widely debated. But it's each to his/her own preferences.
I am also in a large age gap relationship. We have been together over 4 years now. Best relationship I have ever had. She is much more mature than most other women her age. There are definitely exceptions to any general rule. Wishing you all the best...
Great vid Paul. If dating a 24-26 something young lady here, you may as well be dating a bar girl. Ive been in Makati (wrong place I know, but I like sidewalks as I am your age) two months. I go to two pubs because they are nice and quiet and have smoking rooms. The young ladies working have one goal. Get you to spend and make you comfortable. Dating a younger gal is like the ""get you to spend part"". I met a gal working at a coffee shop. Much too young but nice to have dinner with. I just don't like to eat alone.
Very wise observation. It is hard to stay connected to someone who is in a very different place in "their arc of life" I was widowed at 57 and chose to marry close enough to my age that we could still relate as we aged. I am 80 now, married 22 years and happy as one could ask for.
I read somewhere that a good way to determine the youngest age of a woman to date is to divide your age by 2 and add 7 yr. So if your age is 60 date, 37 yr or older. Of course, that seems to be just a guideline nothing more.
You're so right. It happened to me years ago. When I saw our young new neighbour, our eyes immediately dilated, and my knees started to tremble. When small talk turned to long personal talks, I realized our emotional level was in sync, but our intellectual level was not in sync.
You have said it before. What you need is time. A person can only hold an image up for so long, then the real person comes out. So we need to take our time, not rush anything. Maybe we need to grow up first too.... Then we maybe ready for this. The same with finding the right person who complements you and your lifestyle.
Well said. A very mature, realistic assessment of pinay love. I just married my 25 year old filipina. She is definitely more mature then most. Never asked me for a peso in 5 years. She only asks for honesty, truth and loyalty.
Father had Medicare & he chose to pay private out of pocket to be done in Philippines from a trusted well recommend eye dr. Everything went well. Aunt had Medicare in US hosp - She lost 1 eyesight from surgery. Anything can happen I guess.
I think a lot of us came here about the same time, 2017 and me my self went through the same thing, at first I had a 18 year old I was talking to and said I'm a virgin you can bring me to any doctor to comfirm in manila, and I'm 54 , long story short I didn't land in manila, second one I did meet in daveo 28 beautiful an very nice so we spent a few days together all was great until we went out to eat, not so good, every one could hear her eating so loud, so the end of that one, next my wife and she was 34 and bingo been together 7 years now, and just the way I like them ! Mean as hell
I'm 68 & moved here at 61. Been with my asawa 4 yrs. w/25yr age gap. The youngsters all giggly, infatuated, phones stuck in their face just never interested me. BIG thing for me is how well is her English that also makes/break the deal. I've had encounters where I & they have felt totally clueless on what's being said no matter how hard we try.
You and I are the same age, dog. The big difference is my health. I've always worked out and I look and feel about 10 years younger than my age. Never drank alcohol or smoked. Zero health issues. My doctor in the states said there was no relationship between how many times the earth has orbited the sun and my age. I was married to a younger woman for 20 years in the US, and I had been dating women 10 to 20 years younger than me before the pandemic. So when I started chatting with a 23 year old Filipina when I was 66 in 2021, it felt right. Oddly, my wife today has so many similarities to my late mother who grew up in rural America during the great depression. I remember how my mom loved chicken feet, gizzards, etc. even though my dad (a city boy) thought it was disgusting. Today, I'm living in Cebu City married to that young lady and we have a year and a half old son together...my first child of my own. It's working and we are both very happy. We have our challenges but I'll say that we don't run into as many areas of conflict as I did with my first two American wives. And I continue to wish God had made it possible for my young wife to meet my mom and dad. They would have loved her a thousand times more than my previous two greedy, dishonest, materialistic American wives. My dad used to privately call my second wife a criminal gold digger but I never knew that until we were divorced in 2010. I realized in 2020 that casual dating in the states was creating nothing of lasting value in my life. What was the point of my life? Some money and "stuff" I had accumulated that would one day end up in a yard sale going to people who didn't even know me? During the pandemic, I really thought about how sad it was that I had never had a child of my own. Now my life feels complete and my only focus is staying in shape to I can watch this little boy grow up for at many years as God will give me. Everyone is taken care of no matter what happens, but if I can make it into my 80s like most of my family did, I should see that young man in college. Or beyond. Until then, we are blessed to live and love every day.
My experience was the same as yours. My wife was 19 and I was 63 when we met. I had been in the PI for 2 years at the time. We spent 8 years in the PI and then moved to the States 9 years ago. So we have been together for 18 years and still going strong. I have no issues with my health and we hike, camp, and do whatever we want. Some considerations need to be addressed in these relationships to help ensure they will last. A few weeks ago I sent Paul an email addressing these kinds of relationships and what those considerations were to help ensure they last. He apparently ignored and deleted the email based on his comments and response to me. It is obvious that these relationships work as we are just two examples and I am aware of four others with similar age gaps that have been long term.
So true... I chat with the 20 year old and find they are like talking to a child... They giggle a lot and just have no deep or relationship questions for me... more about how I can help them....
Not that way with mine 2 years married. She's never asked for "help," but she's implicated needing help by bringing something up like dentist or cousins needing to go pay for school school stuff but she's got her aunte for that as it's her OFW aunt's children in the first place.
There are different laws for foreigners in the Philippines. If the Filipino is 18 or over, you are within the Philippines law to date them. The question should be, what age are you comfortable with when in your 60's? Don't worry too much about what others may think. Just stay within the law. Be careful however. Many foreigners can get set up by Filipinos and Filipinas. They might claim to be 18 or over but in reality they're younger. Then when you're in a compromising position, the police knock on the door. Just remember that you are a target for extortion. After all, you are supposed to be the millionaire in pesos.
This video was my first exposure to your channel, Paul. You covered the points well, and made clear to those with skeptical minds that you were aware that generalizations don't cover every case. Your dividing Filipinas into those 'under 30' as younger and those 'over 30' as older left my case in Paul-limbo. My sweetheart is 30 . . . not fitting into either of your categories. I joined a dating site 2 months ago, found it to be full of scammers and decided to try another site instead of just chucking the whole idea. I set the age bracket on my profile as 30 to 55, intending to concentrate on the 35 to 45 group. I was unprepared for the onslaught of 19 to 23-year-olds who responded. I was born in the decade preceding your birth, Paul, so my and my sweetheart's age gap is significant. The saving grace, for now, is that I feel and look (or so some try to tell me) 45. She thinks, speaks and has a level of wisdom as if she is 45. I won't say she's a unicorn, just that I consider here to be 1 in 116,000,000. We are both aware of the many challenges an almost 47-year age gap holds. We are going forward with our eyes open and are both very optimistic for our future. Thanks for your video. It was in direct consonance with the things I had already decided before I began my search. I clicked on thumbs up and then started to hit subscribe. But when I saw the 99,300 subscribers mark, it occurred to me that I might delay a couple of weeks and be your 100,000th subscriber! Congratulations in advance. That is a huge accomplishment As a post-script to my comment, I will add that I was quite distressed by the number of single moms 19 to 48 who so obviously needed a good man in their life. Of the 1400 to 1800 profiles that I narrowed down to half a dozen good women, it seemed that fully 50% of them were single moms. The percentage of single parents and of children being raised by their grandparents seems to be increasing rapidly in the United States. I think the root causes are vastly different, however, in the two countries. In the Philippines, the obvious conflict between the Catholic Church's doctrines and the sex drives of young people needs to be addressed at more than the parish, family or individual level. In both countries, the acceptance of responsibility for one's actions is abysmally low. This last applies to both men and women.

The biggest issue that most men don't seem to be aware of is that prior sexual relationship history permanently damages women psychologically. This is part of women's nature. There is a large amount of scientific data showing this that the general public is willfully ignorant of.
@@MarkThornton-t8x there isn't a significant effect. It seems to be difficult for people today to believe but males and females are different psychologically.
@@MarkThornton-t8x with more previous sexual partners women have increased unhappiness, anxiety, substance abuse, depression, marital dissatisfaction, and divorce. For example as found in Ramrakha et al, 2013. The biggest negative effects are from virgin to having already had 1 previous sexual partner.
@@MarkThornton-t8x sounds like you don't want to accept factual information. When confronted with uncomfortable information all you can do is go after the messenger. That's a part of why men today have so many problems in relationships.
Hi Paul! An interesting video that raises all sorts of questions. I guess it's different strokes for different folks, as long as it's within the laws there, & is acceptable in the community one lives in. Families always have problems, & that's what us guys are buying into. But as long as she & he are happy together, then they should just roll with it!. 🍔🍟🥤
OK I hear you on how they mature but there is another angle that you as an older person can help point the lady under 30 in the right direction. Help with school tuition and promote education, make an example of what is right and wrong and just be a positive influence on her and maybe even her family and friends. I understand that she has to be willing to go down this road but the positive direction is something I think is lacking in the Philippines right now especially in the expat community. Thinking more about the girl and her trials and tribulations might make the western guy look more like a nice person than someone just looking out for his own interests. I have spent some time and will be back again in the Phils next Tuesday and see that there are so many scenarios with people, family and their world that makes the dating world in the Phils one day at a time and hope for the best. Damn Paul its like any where else in the world and age is just a number that the woke world looks at. Real people see friends, lovers and partners and that is what makes this world turn.
I agree with you Paul. I met my lady when she was 29 and she turned 30 four months into our relationship. She's exactly what you are saying, looking for the security and loves me unconditionally.
It totally makes sense. It's next to impossible to keep an interesting conversation with a 16/19 yo. At age 23/25 this has improved a lot, but rarely can you get in deep and meaningful conversation. At late 20's a transformation begins, and at 30/32 out comes the butterfly 😉
My partner is 32, I am 58, it took me a while to stop thinking of the age difference. I'm good with it now, we get along great in every department, Ive never been with such a loving woman
You have a very good outlook on the realities of long distance relationships, Paul. THAT’S why you have so many subscribers! We need you and your insights! I’m 72, and wondering if it’s too late for me, or not . I lost my wonderful wife of 20 years to cancer two years ago, and wonder if it’s only one to a customer, and maybe I’m just going to have to be satisfied with being alone, now.
My girlfriend since 13 has been on her own with her 2 sisters.....her mom split with her dad and got another guy (my girlfriend) didn't like so at 13 she and her 2 younger sisters went to her uncles to live then at 15 she dropped out of school and her and her 2 sisters got their own place and she has been their legal guardian since and she has raised them. Her sister right below her in age just graduated high school and is now in university her second younger sister is now a senior in high school.....so while I'm 62 and she's 24 she's great because she's a very mature 24 not a child she knows how to be a (mom) and she's very smart.....so yes there's a big age difference....but its ok she's a great person.....and so far it's working. Our relationship won't be perfect but for me it's good enough I am Happy.
Good vid.,-The attitude,& maturity difference is the same in Canada too and all thru the West Paul-not just the States,,- My Slavic friends tell me not so much in their countries thou..,-*keep it coming ,,👍journey on🤙
Very good take on things bro... I’m beginning to see the problems with my 20 year old Filipina. She’s jyst in a different world ,she is still so into her phone ,and exactly what you have covered about “ Gagets, and gifts ,and dophamine hits”😂 exactly!!!! Bingo!😂 Now I’m finally waking up to reality !

This is a very important topic, and I'm glad you brought it up. It's difficult to generalize about Filipinas based on age, education level, income, looks, geographic location (province vs city) or many of the other factors people like to bring up. Many guys, and some gals, will advise you to absolutely avoid this lady or that lady based on some generalization but while I have found some of those to maybe have some truth to them, there are just so many exceptions to every "rule." For example you might say a young woman must be more immature than an older woman because the older woman has more life experience. But many men will tell you that they met a much younger woman who has an "old soul" and a mature understanding of the world, and there are other older woman who are immature and just as likely to try and scam you as someone else. In other cases, people will tell you that you can never have a successful long term relationship with a poorly educated woman...Her English is bad, how will you communicate with her about anything of interest such as books, music, or (country GDP lol)... Well, as many men find out, it's quite possible to have a deeper relationship with a woman who has only a grade school education vs someone with advanced university degrees. Many men also state with certainty that if you have a relationship with a woman with a lesser income level, the relationship will be a purely "financial transaction"...REALLY? There are many examples to the contrary. Just look it up here in TH-cam. Many loving, beautiful, long term relationships between all sorts of different people. Well, unfortunately a lot of opinions are born out of pure cynicism. The most important thing is to be PATIENT, don't rush into ANYTHING. Take the time to make a couple of good friends, and then go with them and their wife on some double dates. In other words, really get to know the other person, whoever they are, and get to know their friends and families as well. If you use your head and your heart you will be able to spot any red flags. Yes "true love" is possible and you can find it in many different and unlikely places and often under some unexpected circumstances. The Philippines is not for everyone, but for those who can adapt to a new country and culture, it's possible to achieve the highest level of emotional, mental, physical, financial and spiritual happiness you have ever experienced in your whole life. Good Luck!
Thanks Paul! Another great video sharing your observations and insights. I agree with your opinions in this video. I watch many vloggers and couples in the Philippines and observe many of the characteristics you talk about here. I wont call out anyone, but definitely see a couple of Unicorn relationships that you mentioned and several where you can tell the younger Filipina is still in the "party" mode of life. I Definitely think the "Trophy" wife thing runs both ways in most of those situations. It is in my opinion a "Trophy" relationship on both sides.
I have been in a LDR for one and a half years already. She is 38 years old now and a very good woman. She is kind of like your lady baby Mae in many ways :)
I would put the dividing line a bit higher, based on reliable fertility which is a bit higher. I'm old and have no family, so that is a big factor for me. For men who already have family, including nieces & nephews, priorities may be different.

When I first started to court my wife, I figured she was mid-30s (I randomly found her here on TH-cam as she live streamed her food vending service). Turns out she's mid-40s! I'm 52 and she's 46 and we're like 2 peas in a pod. And she has an amazing daughter with high honors in the 12th grade. I love them both so much!

Thank you Paul

filipinas always worry about your eating habits haha
Title: “When a Foreigner Becomes A Trophy” (what’s love got to do with it) 😂
Awesome video, thank you. You speak from your heart with your experiece and knowledge to help both sides.
And I was balls deep in that.
good job Paul. I met my Filipina in Canada. I'm 68 and she is 60. best wife a man could have. loving and honest .

My Filipina is 14 years younger than me (I'm 69). I made a great choice, family oriented and head on straight. Young ones are nice to look at, but I had a cut off for age as compared to mine. It worked. This subject is widely debated. But it's each to his/her own preferences.

Hi Paul and Mae.🙋 Thanks old dog for sharing your wisdom of the different age groups of Philippine woman.❤
Paul, your comments and insights are excellent, and you always have an interesting presentation. Once a dork-now a knight. 😆
Mate, high respect to youre educated, wise words
You have a healthy outlook on life ....enjoy every minute

I couldn’t agree with you more. You nailed this topic!
I’m surprised more expats don’t invest in the Filipina’s education (and of course, her English).
Or beyond. Until then, we are blessed to live and love every day.
good on you John!
@@jameshoutsma1191 Bravo sir. Your path is the one I'm praying to walk

I agree Paul, I'm 59 and my filipina is 38, but will turn 39 in December.
That was good stuff Paul.
You had better be a peso millionaire or you shouldn't be in the PI
Wonderful words of wisdom 🙏🏻
Great video 👍🥳 Thanks 🎉
I like the new car smell, I can’t afford it however

That is a huge accomplishment
As a post-script to my comment, I will add that I was quite distressed by the number of single moms 19 to 48 who so obviously needed a good man in their life.

Sounds like good advice Paul

One thing I've found is that single mothers tend to mature faster because of obvious circumstances....
Good Luck!
Great vid Paul,
Totally agree.
Never had any interview, went thru JRC for my husbands 13a. Maybe because we've been married 22yrs, and are the same age.
