This makes my heart smile 🥰 I love Appalachian music whether it be folk, bluegrass, mountain, i don't care. Growing up i used to go out to work in the pasture and every which way you turned you could hear folks playing and singing and i loved nothing more than talking a break and just choosing which direction i wanted to listen. This feller brings back some very happy memories for me.
Mr. Danny Bo Smith is one heck of a musician storyteller and a genuine soul. This episode is one of my favorites because it’s not just one song that’s a quick glance in to how somebody feels or what they went through. I love this channel and respect every artist their stories and music but this was 16 mins and 35 seconds of someone’s daily life that I felt I wholeheartedly connected with. I loved hearing his songs/singing, information bout his family history and how strong his faith is. You don’t need billions or materialistic things to be happy as long as you have a guitar (or any instrument or your voice) love in your heart a place to lay your head when your tired and faith in your soul your rich to me. This man needs to be featured on Grand Ole Opry. Hope to hear him play live or see and talk to him sometime when I’m down in WVA. My little slice of heaven. Peace out and stay blessed.

Ol' Bo reminds me of another Appalachian singer/songwriter out of McDowell County WV by the name of Alan 'Cathead' Johnston, who I ran across on social media about 12-15 years ago and we drifted away from contact/communications a few years after and ever since. Both Bo and Alan have that same style and produce some great genuine 'old school' music. Alan's whole family were great talents, including his daughter Stacy Grubb, whose singing and talent will knock you socks off.
I was born not too far from this amazing man in a little place called cabin creek WV. Most people dont know how truly amazing us hillbillies really are until you hear or see it. Please do more on BO, such an amazing singer.

I grew up in the country and married, moved from city to city from the Rockies to the East for many years. I trust my “hillbilly” countrymen from north to south and west to east FAR more than any from the cities!! They sense my roots and I highly respect their abilities. If the world does crash, we will be able to depend on our abilities learned at our parents’ sides. Maybe theb, our children will finally listen!

In the western area at least, close to the woods etc but I spent a lot of time and grew up with family in Western Va. This music caresses my soul and hits me so much deeper than anything now. I used to sit on the porch with my grandfather in Covington V.a. while he would pick all night.

This is what country music used to be!! I traveled the State of Florida as an 18-year- old, helping set up for grass roots, country music concerts! I loved it!!! Music in the fields with people who brought their own chairs!! Country music is crap these days!!

This is the life I always dreamed about since I was about 4 years old. My great grandparents bypassed Appalachia and went straight to Florida in 1889. I was always upset about that. I’m not Florida and never have been.
