  • I have put together this variety of shots taken around Peterborough in the 1990's, some shots were taken late in the day when the light was failing and the camera was struggling to focus but I thought they were worth including so I do hope you will find something of interest in this Video.

I saw a Class 365 about a week ago at Peterborough being hauled south by 37800.

So much of interest, the infrastructure around the railway, the yards still being used, views from Railworld, the Geoff Steels bridge with the Rev. Richard Paten on the left. A definite nostalgia trip which was great to watch, thank you Roy for sharing.

For those who do not visit regularly, a good portion of the yard is still in use. EWS uses the old engine shed whilst GBRF has it's own, close to where the National Carriers site was. Thameslink had their own sidings at Peterborough West. A good portion of the rest of the yard is now a virtual quarry. The sidings between the engine shed and Spittal Bridge had all the trees and shrubbery removed last year and a fender erected around them but I've not seen them being put to any use.
The Perrier twin-vans are still there a good decade or more since they derailed in the yard.
IIRC the RailWorld bridge came from Darlington. There was a bridge of similar design close to Dsrlington shed.

Seems like last year, yet virtually every loco / unit you captured are now history. Thanks again Roy 👍

They're a wonderful time capsule, as is everything taken with the first generation of good, genuinely portable range of cameras becoming available then. I've got stuff from 1998 recorded on 8mm tape which is irreplaceable for me. And the stabilisation tool you've obviously used to great effect just completes the package. Many thanks.

At 29.20, is that a USA tank in the left hand corner, or something European given a gelati livery?

It looks like an Indian narrow gauge engine to me.

It is an Indian Narrow Gauge from the Matheran Light Railway, (number 740 ) It was on static display but has now moved to the South Tynedale Railway for restoration to running order.
