  • When driving from South Lincolnshire to North Yourkshire via the Humber Bridge, Barnetby was the halfway point so I would take a short break, have a cuppa and capture a few trains on this busy line. this is now around 20 years ago and much has changed since then. Here is part one, and more will follow, I hope you enjoy watching.

More great footage Roy. My brother and I used to visit Barnetby a couple of times a year just prior to this when `56`s absolutely dominated. `37`s too. That was before they constructed that eyesore of a bridge! A mecca for spotters to that point in time, but alas, in common with everywhere else, the freight is in severe decline. Oh, what have we become as a once proud railway nation eh!

Some great memories of freight at Barnetby. I used to enjoy my annual holiday in the Autumn travelling up from Somerset and visiting Barnetby. I've not been back since the semaphores have gone and freight declined as well.

What a shame those impressive semaphores have gone. I only went there once, and then only briefly. I kept meaning to go back, but never got round to it. (Now it I had a fiver for every time I said that...!)

Hi Ron, I don't drive far now, so don't think I will be calling at Barnetby again, I see that you are still visiting the Railways, always watch your video's. best regards -- Roy.

@@royharrison4122 I went there by train as I had a one-day East Anglia Rover ticket. But now I live in Hampshire I don't suppose I shall be going that way very often. Yes, I'm still videoing and photographing trains and am putting a mixture of old and new on TH-cam, so I hope you like what you see. I've still got some archive NVR footage in the 'To Be Edited' queue...

It is surprising just how dead it is here now having remembered how busy it was at the time this video was made. The freight here has declined severely when comparing 2003 to today. There used to be an average of about 6 freights an hour, now that average is about 1 an hour!
