I’ve always thought it was hilarious that when people make fun of aquaman in the super friends show but when you show them an actual comic of aquaman they find out how much of a badass he is.
I'd be more willing to acknowledge the badass aspects of Aquaman if DC didn't try to overcompensate by giving him long hair, a hook hand, and an "edgy" personality.
Mr.E to be fair, that was the first wave of the Aquaman restoration initiative. The super friends fucked his perception up so bad, they had to go all the way to the other end, regardless of wheter or not it was good, just to get people to care.
I know I probably sound like a broken record by now but I really love all the stuff that you guys do. You never fail to make me laugh and have a good time. I can honestly say that, hands down, ComicPOP is my favorite TH-cam channel! Thank you all for being awesome and always releasing such wonderful content!
This book is filled with such ironic moments. Aquaman becoming Batman. So many SUB-plots in a book called SUB-Diego. The villain being called "the Eel" BEFORE he becomes a fish person. (BTW, love the all-blue set lighting)
Before the discussion about his magic water hand, I was looking at the picture that is up in the background and I legitimately thought for a minute that he had a doll's head for a hand.
I really liked the Sub Diego story. I really think it was a cool Idea to sink a city and people having to adjust to a new environment. I didn't like how grim and gritty he was in the story. I like Aquaman to be serious but you know... not a brooding dingus like Batman. Anyway what I especially loved was the art by Patrick Gleason. His art was so good and today it is even better.
Ok so warning the title i’m going to give is bad, but since it San diego who’s under water shouldn’t they called the story « Sank Diego » ? Please don’t throw stone at me.
Ben, Frontier is actually really good and worth checking out. I watched the first episode just because I saw Jason Mamoa was in it and watched the whole series in about a week.
Idk would n apple float to the top if it was at the bottom of the ocean? I’m not sure it would. People wouldn’t float up from the bottom so I doubt apples sitting still in a box would either
I remember taking a look at this when it was in the comic stores and giving it a hard pass.The people in it were walking around in normal above water cloathing and there appeared to be no thought into making the premise seem even the tiniest bit real. I didn't see the DC Namor movie either, because as a scuba diver, I know you can't stand on the back of a swimming creature and ride it like you could above water. Trailer killed my suspension of disbelief, Movie may have been good, but the lack of effort placed into making it feel like it was underwater killed it for me.
We mention the creative team in the intro of the show, and there's a direct link to a copy of the book which features their names prominently. Why the extra step?

I'm not telling YOU guys not to use Amazon, you gotta promote the books you talk about somehow, but it isn't really a company I want to give my clicks to. You definitely always say it in the episode, but I usually listen to Back Issues while getting ready in the morning, and I found myself curious about halfway through the episode about who wrote the book, but didn't want to rewind and lose my place. I guess I'm thinking about it from a program perspective; if you go to a choir concert, the conductor will introduce each piece and say the composer, but the program will also have all that info in there too.
So, for real, I think Aquaman is considered lame because despite being able to breathe in water and command aquatic life, he can't actually MANIPULATE water like Mara can. I never understood why they never just gave Aquaman waterbending abilities. You'd really expect that based off of his name alone, but...No. The best he's gotten is just a hand made out of magic water.

It was the 90s. That happened to pretty much every superhero. Besides, those stories by Peter David were really well written.
