Hem Behag played by Baba's disciples took a particular different dimension altogether. It is not that easy to find long recordings of Hem Behag by Ustadji in his prime. Thanks so very much for sharing this precious recording. Very much agree with Soumitra Lahiri's description of the raag.
Not a raag only but a sad story or a desolate landscape painting . I could not follow the raag structure, yet could not for a moment divert my mind from the slow and unpredictable swara movements of the long, pensive and sad alap. Only a wizard can create such a spell . The gat was spellbinding too but only upto a stage when suddenly the spell broke and string and rhythm jugglery set in. The jhala was exciting and the ending chaotic, not at all befitting the mood created by the alap. A thousand cheers for Raju-ji!
