My old area !! I love seeing videos of Chinatown... I might have stayed in a Condo (Emerald Garden on Club Street), but the location was in Chinatown, so i felt part of the area. I am glad I didnt live in an expat popular area like River Valley road...
but you were right - people's park / chinatown point never had many Ang Mo expats... myself and my wife often only white folks we saw haha. We were smart cos good things there much cheaper than the fancy malls in Orchard Road. How has that restaurant in Pagoda St survived? It's horrible. I was always hassled walking past (and in "tailor street") - White guy = visitor lol. I actually spoke to a few of the tailors and said" look - i live here. Please dont harass me and I will shop when I need" and they mostly listened - and got my business. Why buy shirts from a store when you can get hem handmade for the same money :) I wanted a new suit and the material i wanted (silk/egyptian cotton mix) was S$2k+ at a tailors in fancy Orchard mall. Same material (with additional pair trousers and a shirt) from one of the tailor street uncles - S$750 ! Oh - and god damn - I wish I knew about that coffee place!! My bean to cup filter machine from singapore is still going strong. Those coffee prices are awesome!
During the pandemic I saw police men telling people not to gather around the chess players as only a few could stand around to watch. Was a tough job for the police 😅
Did you go back to find that pretty Dong Dong from the ear cleaning shop? 😂
Ojisan, hope the vloog bug is normalized, missed out on your foodie vibes this round at people's park hawker
