    I only have CS2 and older. The Appearance window is useless as far as I can see in all the older versions. I'm glad to see that someone came up with a reason to have it.

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm sorry about that. I don't have any version earlier than CS5.1 to try this out on so i can't help there. In later versions it's a great and very important tool.

    Great workaround for black patterns, but there is an easier way to change the colors with the Recolor Artwork Tool. You can change the settings so black color will be affected. All you have to do is uncheck "Preserve Black"

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes! You are so right. This video was made before I discovered that the recolor artwork dialogue would do all the work for you. I'll put it on my list to do an updated video because I think it is a good point.

      Hi Helen, it happens so often, you find out about something in Illustrator later and ask yourself, why you didn't know about it earlier :). I just thought to share some tips, just in case.

    This is awesome and was so helpful for me! The results on my pattern filled rectangle were great, but I had the problem that the pattern swatch itself did not change its appearance. So I could not save it as another color version of this pattern. Where might be my mistake?

    • @andreahasse8940
      @andreahasse8940 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh, and I forget to mention that I am referring to the method with the layers in the appearance panel, not the one with the color wheel. I really like the layer effects!

    Hi! I changed the color with appearance one of my own pattern but and I want to save this as a swatch and I don't know how to do it. Can you help me?

    hola, Helen!! como se quitan las lineas blancas que salen cuando haces un patron y lo reescalas?

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lourdes · hola Lourdes. I am working on a video to solve the problem of white lines. There are many options and they don't all work all of the time. Probably 2 weeks before I am ready to post the video.

    Mostly what I am having trouble with I just want to remove the color and leave a outline with a line weight of my choice. But often times I find that patterns are made of compound shapes and even if I can get it to be black and white, there is no way for me to get the line weight right because its not a stroke its a shape.
