    Came here to learn how to transform & envelope warp like a pro, ended up learning that I've been creating patterns in a very inefficient way for years... Great stuff! Subscribed.

      Helen, hello. Thank you. I'm trying to create an emerging sphere from a honeycomb grid pattern. Your tutorial gets me close. But is there a way to make a perfect circular pattern that give it the same warped affect or illusion affect? I can get close but it is hard to get it consistent with the envelope method. Thank you

    So I have it here in this square but whenever I try to do something with it like drag it to be a swatch or a brush or a graphic style whatever it goes to go be just turns into a blank box. So I thought maybe I'm supposed to expand appearance first, but that just made it lose its warp effect.

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Missy, it’s not designed to be a brush, swatch or graphic style so it can’t be used that way unfortunately. You can just use it as it is.

    Time for some fun in #Illustrator? Here's how to make a pattern using Transform and then how to bend and warp it using Envelope Distort.

    One question: can we warp image in illustrator???

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately no. You would need to trace it as a vector first.

    Graphics on a Windows machine?? Ha Ha HA !!!!

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +cuda426hemi Yep! I always say it's the designer not the technology that really counts - after all design is about imagination and creativity - at least it is in my book!

    • @cuda426hemi
      @cuda426hemi 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Helen Bradley You're absolutely correct. It's the carpenter-not the hammer that matters. I just couldn't resist. I always wonder how people got stuck in Windows for Adobe and Pro Music like Pro Tools when they were Mac only initially. I wonder if it's because they forced to use Windows at work so they didn't know any better. Good job Helen, great tutorials. d:)

    Helen how would you now make this pattern repeat?

    • @HelenBradley
      @HelenBradley  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You'll have a lot of trouble trying to do that Lesley. It will take a lot of time to make an organic design (like this ends up being) repeat. It is possible but it requires an entirely different approach to taking the bent and stretched elements and to make a repeat from them. I haven't tried it, but it is a great idea, so I don't have a "recommended workflow" for this. Sorry I can't be of more help.
