How dare the Flagship Lounge! It is never too early for champagne! Somewhere in the world it is Happy Hour.
right 😮💨 it should be an unspoken rule that happy hour is 24/7 with aviation. Last month, Qantas moved their 'happy hour' (aka domestic wine and beer) from 5pm to 12pm. Very impressed haha
My rule of thumb until now: Use AA for domestic, but not for international. And yes, AA has never been that bad for me - flew from LAX to DFW and they did not give me any major thing to moan about, which is good!
What about to Hawaii? I know it’s domestic but does it fit the profile of a bad to fly AA?
@@M_SC : Never tried AA to Hawaii. But they...should be OK domestically. Your luck may vary though.
As a oneworld ruby member, I found flying with AA domestically great for the benefits - free seat selection and one free checked bag, plus priority security screening on the most basic fare. I flew MIA-SFO on their A321-neo and was excited to try it as I’d never flown on one before. The most disappointing thing was the measly 5cm of seat recline we got 😅😅😅
AA probably provides the best perks for Ruby and Sapphire. If it weren't for the perks, I wouldn't have booked AA haha. No thanks to group 9 boarding 🤣 For Emerald, AA don't really do First Class lounge (except for LHR but then there's CX lounge) so QF, JL and CX might be more appealing for them.
This is what's wrong! AA needs to crack down on these uneven/unbalanced benefits to OneWorld elite. For those of us AA highest elites, we don't even get these benefits on domestic flights. This is pure insanity.
AA aren't too bad. When they used to have domestic first class, they were a great airline to fly for Qantas FF status runs.
$89 is a good deal, plus your one world status perks make it exceptional. Thanks for sharing.

the seats look much more comfy compared to the ones on LAX-SYD route. also Star Alliance Gold does have extra free checked bag on SQ and all SQ fares do come with free checked bag unlike American airlines where domestic routes basic economy don't have luggage.
yes definitely, I’ve tried the LAX-SYD plane before. Legroom not as good.
You’re right about SQ but remember they also charge a lot more haha, like most other airlines in Asia and Australia

I always fly American and I love the 788 and 789. I have flown both in first class and premium economy, and there is loads of legroom in premium, including alcohol. So glad you took my advice and went to Clutter’s Park. Next time you need to go to the Proud Bird, it’s at the beginning of 25L, the planes fly right by you before they land❤️✈️
Good legroom and alcoholic drinks are standard for premiun economy. Good premium economy requires more

Great video, Jayden! Glad to see you give AA some love. US airlines definitely have their shortcomings, but do decently overall for the most part. That’s a pretty excellent fare you were able to pull off especially with your elites benefits that you can take advantage of. Too bad you couldn’t stay at the LAX Hilton. It has great runway views!

Totally agree with you! Airlines like Singapore Airline is very overrated and only frequently flyers can really judge how they truly treat their customers
Look, Singapore Airlines is great. Lots of wow factors especially if you're flying them for the first time. Same goes for Changi.
However, if you fly often, I want efficiency and an airline that values my loyalty. AA does better in terms of better lounges and priority boarding/check in etc.
Great review and nice seeing a little positivity. I flew on AA 20 times last year and every flight was on time. Of course every airline has delays but I’ve had some really wonderful experiences and you just generally see people always wanting to bash AA . I just have never understood it. I think it’s probably because they are the world‘s largest airline.

with the domestic widebody flights, with your status you could've selected a premium economy seat as Main Cabin Extra for no fee. Also I'm surprised that on this route they sell business as Flagship but no snack box service in economy like the JFK-LAX transcons...
unfortunately AA stopped giving out MCE for free to sapphire and emerald unless it's members from BA/JL and a few other close partners. Qantas is surprisingly excluded

In recent years I've never had a pleasant experience in American, which is regrettable because I have about 150,000 miles with them
Last November I had a last minute trip from LAX to Reagan via Dallas. The service was pleasant. The snacks were inedible. I'll take Southwest any day. I just wanted to use miles
I've always gone LAX to O'Hare twice. For silly reasons I went first class. Both times and both ways the lounge was shut. Leg room was appreciated.
The food was bad junior high cafeteria slop. When I went to the head, the attendant was eating her bag lunch. I gave a quizzical look. She said. "I never take a chance on the food," and tossed me a snickers. We had a few laughs. Thereafter I brought food, first or not.
Ahh reminds me of the ORD BOS flight in First last year. Just a few miles short from a hot meal! Luckily I ate a lot in the ORD flag ship Lol. I had the friendliest FA ever on that very flight. Thanks for sharing your experience. I understand my experience was quite different because non-AA elites get nicer lounges and I usually fly on a wide body too. Hence my AA experience was nicer

17:59, $89 for a 1 way flight to Los Angeles is not bad. When I flew Cebu pacific in July of 2022 from Kuala Lumpur to Manila on a 3 and a half hour flight, it's $80 and it's cheap, affordable and worth it.
It can go as low as $40 because of the competition within the domestic US market.
Without his Oneworld status on AA’s Basic Ecnonomy, he would get a bare flight like Cebu Pacific and would need to pay for his luggage and seat selection except the free drink and biscuit.
Jayden, United has this style tray table on their refurbished 777-200ers and 787-10s.
It is the same seats I believe! Same supplier at least :)

great video as usual just wanted to ask why is there a qantas hangar in LAX?
Qantas flights from Australia arrive at LAX in the morning, but doesn't leave until the evening. So during the day, they go through maintenance checks at LAX. In Sydney or Melbourne, the A380s have very short turnaround (HKG and LAX flights arrive in the morning but leave before noon) so they rarely do it there.

Is there no way to buy a sandwich on board etc. - this is interesting compared to low cost carriers- but the low price makes it reasonable
the crew never offered, but I assume cheese platter was an option if you ask, at least judging from my previous domestic AA flights
AA has good soda drinks selection. But the snacks for domestic economy, pretzels or biscoff cookies are oh so uninspiring. I prefer UA (That's It Mango fruit bar, choc quinoa chip) or DL (sunchips) economy snacks

But my Macbook Air (the cheapest one with 128gb) works fine with editing. A bit slow only when there’s little storage left but I imagine it’s the same on other computers/laptops. No clue what RAM is sorry😂

Super-sweet of the gate agent to call you "sweetheart" (I mean, you are!). Not common but always a nice touch when it happens.
Your seat 19L is a Main Cabin Extra seat. 35" pitch is NOT the standard on an AA 788, I believe it's 31 or 32". I checked SeatGuru to verify. Good thing you get IFE on a domestic AA widebody, although I'm one of those weirdoes who's fine with BYOD as long as there's good Internet.
I'm sure your flight had Buy on Board for meals. Guess nothing stood out to you? Also, while I generally prefer AA over UA, Stroopwaffel are much better than Biscoff IMO.
Love how the crew paid attention to details with your sleeping seatmate. That's definitely going above and beyond.
Like I commented on your Insta post, you can get great crew/flights on all of the US3. What sucks is the consistency. But the days of US carriers being demonstrably inferior to Euro/Asian carriers are long gone. When I was a kid in the 80s, there was a HUGE difference between Pan Am (in their dying days) and Lufthansa, for example. Time and globalization seem to be the great equalizers.

Hello! Seatguru is a bit vague in this because when you click into 19L, the longer description says ‘standard’. I also believe they’re still showing the old configuration. Apparently Seatguru is not updating anymore, probably since 2019/20. This new 788 configuration was introduced in 2020.
One way to identify MCE seats is to look at their headrests. It’ll be red on the ring. Mine is standard as it’s only red on the top. I believe on the new 787-8, only the front rows and the three seats in the middle section on the remaining rows of forward cabin are MCE :)

yes but the airfare reflects that. Singapore Airlines or Cathay charge so much more for regional flights, that's why you can expect a meal and cocktails in economy.

Looking forward for your CX A330-343E Economy Class video HKG-CEB and my first impression of it is that it beats your RP-C8760-8789 videos in terms of service. Need to experience AA widebody since I only did LAX-EWR on AA B737-800 which had the old version a drop down screen in First Class. In domestic first class if you did it on this flight the cabin crew might ask you a question will you like to visit the cockpit

There's no way I would ever fly American if I can fly BA as an alternative, for this route I suppose you have to accept fate if your on OneWorld.
I would choose BA any over AA too unless it's Club Europe vs AA domestic First.

American for sure for the flagship lounges (Qantas gold) and Delta for the upgrades (Delta Gold). For narrowbody domestic flights, UA or DL

still very cheap if you have no oneworld perks! You get a meal on Qantas from Sydney to Perth but it's like 3x more expensive.

wouldn’t use the word ‘slam’. It was the flight prior to this. The dead-heading staff was quite rude when he found his seat was taken. Other than that, every time I flew AA the FA were so nice

Very uninformed review and terrible research on AA! It's because your Qantas OneWorld status do you get all these perks of priority access, seat selection, lounge access and Flagship to boot.... for flying Basic Economy. Even for American's own toptop flyers, we don't get these perks on domestics on Basic Economy. American needs to crack down and reject alliance elites to top-tier benefits when flying on Basic Economy. Pure insanity! You think AA is good because of all these perks... .think again for those of us who spend a ton of money on AA and don't get these perks. AA has the worst legroom of US network airlines. You got the Main Cabin Extra seat and didn't even know it from the picture of the seat color. AA is the worst of US network airlines and your research is just atrocious and misleading.
(1) AA don’t need to crack down on those benefits. They need to introduce them to their own top top flyers. Remember AA is part of oneworld, it would be insane if other airlines don’t offer lounge access or free checked bags for AA elites. Don’t forget that AA top top flyers don’t get upgrades to First or MCE on AA 🤷🏻♂️
(2) I made it quite clear throughout the videos that those perks are because of my status and from my own perspective
(3) My seat was not MCE. MCE on the new 787-8 are located at the first few rows for window seats, and pretty much all middle seats in the forward cabin. My headrest was not red throughout so clearly a standard Y seat. If you Google AA 787-8 MCE it’s insanely massive. Those new seats are designed to have bigger legroom and United have them too

@@JaydenWong Wait until you finish college and get a real job and perhaps run a business one day. Airlines cannot afford to give every passenger these types of perks and charge Basic Economy fares. It's clear you have ZERO idea how much it costs to offer lounge access. And you are dead wrong about the seats. The 788 main cabin seats are 31"... your claim of extra room better than UA or DL is BS. If you had a lot of legroom, then you had main cabin extra is about 35". I am on these planes every week, so I am sure I fly more AA in a month than you do in all of your travel. I am top elite with 2 of the 3 US airlines, earned by actually flying and not credit card miles. All of them have about the same in main cabin seat pitch and AA is actually the worst at 31"... In fact, AA is known to have the least seat pitch fleet wise on average than United or Delta. Speaking of which, AA absolutely need to stop these benefits to OneWorld elites because Qantas does NOT offer similar reciprocal benefits to AA elites unless you are on international flights, certainly not for Australia domestic. @_w_w_ @_w_w_ did you watch the video? The legroom was big due to the (1) thin seat design (2) absence of literature right in front of the knees. I fly enough economy to know that there was my room than traditional 5* airlines like Cathay, Singapore etc.

Qantas pay for my lounge access when I use AA's Flagship, and that's why AA have their arms wide open for us non-AA elites even on basic fares. You 100% get lounges access when you fly QF domestic. QF has the same perks for QF and non-QF OW elites, even when it comes to seat selection, QF gold (sapphire) don't get better access the AA platinum. In terms of upgrades and seat selection, you's in the US have it much better.
