    Hi, what a beautiful job you did here. A true craftsman, which I'm finding is becoming all the more rare as the years go on. It seems people are becoming less reliant on the skills of the past, and instead sacrificing quality and true craftsmanship for the cheap, mass produced and of lesser quality crap coming from overseas. Places like China, Indonesia, Vietnam and other places like these, are swamping our markets and becoming the more sought after pieces due to price, regardless of quality and craftsmanship.
    It truly warms my heart to see that these real skills are still being represented by people like you in today's world.

    Wonderful work. great looking knife and sheath. Still really like the way you use the firewood stump as a vice while rasping the sheath.

      Thank you Tom. Yes it's pretty handy. But if I could secure the whole stump too that would be great.

    You should collect birch bark in may. So you save time and the bark separates easier from tree. Do not take those thick dark parts. Then clean those sheats with sandpaper. Then let those dry some weeks. Clip the sheats in suitable small pieces. make holes. But every second piece should sit in 90 grades with the latter. Those small black lines are all over the round handle, not only on sides. When you make the handle don`t use glue. Press those pieces every 5 - 6 tight with a hammer ( softly ). When ready, in the oven 80 - 90 grades warm for half an hour. The bark has barktar and that acts as glue, but the handle is not hard and cold in winter. And with the time the handle will dry more and srinks. If not glued you can press the handle a bit more and put some bar pieces on. It will shrink, believe me.

    You have an awesome channel my friend. I love how much thought you put into all your work! I would love to get on the list to have a knife made by you if you are making some more in the future.
    Also my Alaskan Klee Kai puppy Baxter is a big fan of your dogs. He keeps trying to talk to them. Hahaha.

      Thank you very much Jason for your nice comment. That's awesome to read. I will always be making a knife or something carrying on forward. Can't promise how often though. I don't have a list but should I start one? 🙃 Sitka and Riley send their howlings back to Baxter.

    What material do you use to glue/bond the bark pieces together?

    • @VahidCullsberg
      @VahidCullsberg  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I used wood glue for low temperature application.

    Can you help me find a source of reindeer antler sir? Thank you!

    • @VahidCullsberg
      @VahidCullsberg  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, i know of some sites that sell antler bits but they are all in swedish. They are very often soldout though. It's a seasonal business were the animals shed once a year or, hunted and slaughtered ocasionally.This site seem to have some. Perhaps I'll set up a webshop myself at some point. vvknives.se/collections/horn-ben

    Thank you for sharing your work with us. Your knives are as authentic as they were made 200 years ago. They are perfect. One thing interest me. What kind of glue do you use while gluing together both wooden parts and antlers? Thanks for your answer.

    • @VahidCullsberg
      @VahidCullsberg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi, thank you kindly. For this knife I used wood glue of the brand Dana Lim. What also keep things together is the peening of the tang.

    Can you please tell me what you used to glue the birch bark together. Was it simply antler scraping mixed with a wood glue?
    I really do appreciate your skills, and the pride you take in each piece.
    Thank you

    • @VahidCullsberg
      @VahidCullsberg  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi, thanks for your nice feedback on my other videos too. The glue for the birch bark is just regular wood glue from a danish brand called Dana Lim. I use antler dust mixed in glue to fill voids along the tang and to fill gaps by the front piece. I'm currently using two components epoxy mied with antler dust for his purpose. A second reason for the antler dust is to give those gaps their antler colour back. I used to use regular wood glue before but the glue in my knife of 15 years back has started to give up and I'm looking for a more permanent solution.
