Jimmie didn’t have success his last couple years with chad. The 550 package and driving a car that drives rotates off the front tires done jimmie in.
Jimmie was a LF,RR driver. His ability to drive one really loose boded well for high HP low grip car.
The 550 package leaned heavily on RF,LR
Agreed that Chad did not get enough credit, the car chief and Earl the spotter! Great team and great organization. The last few years were really bad for Jimmie which was tough to watch. He really, could get a handle on that 550 package and yet his teammates were winning all around him.
The 🐐of the Brian France era. No matter what points system you threw at him, not even the "win and your in" format could stop both him and Chad from conquering it all. Truly made my childhood one to remember. 😊
I was a part of all of those championship moments watching on TV. From five years old to fifteen. I watched all of his championships and I'll forever be a lifelong fan of Jimmie Johnson. Thank you for taking me down memory road!
Jimmie Johnson is to NASCAR what Michael Jordan is to basketball. Much respect to all who came before him. He is the all time great no question. 7 titles, over 90 cup wins. There's no arguing with that.

@@rcguy902 I'd put Dale Earnhardt in the category of a Bill Russell or Larry Bird. Look I have respect for all the legends they were great in their Era, mind you I've been a nascar fan for almost 25 years and studied its history. But let's not take away Johnson's achievements, 7 titles and 83 wins is not easy to come by. He's an all time great, no doubt about it. Just like Petty and Earnhardt were in their time.

I find it interesting how back in the day, you didn’t have to win the last race to be the champion. However today (at least the last few years) you have to win the phoenix race to be the champ. I know the points format changed, but something to note.
Since 2014 you just have to finish in front of the other 3
You don’t have to win Phoenix it just happens to end in a way where you need to. But it’s not a requirement for champion

Every time since we had playoffs the champion also won the race. NASCAR goes out of their way to make sure of that. If you watch the 2014 race Jeff Gordon had the field covered but wasn't in the 4. He randomly pitted under a late caution when the whole field was obviously going to stay out. I promise he didn't do that of his own accord.

Jimmie Johnson has been my all time favorite driver since 2012 even though I’ve only been watching NASCAR since November 2011 (the first race I watched was the 2011 Xfinity Series championship race back when it was in the Nationwide era, I didn’t watch other races until the 2012 season started), I only learned that Jimmie Johnson was a 5 time champion, I didn’t watch any of his championship wins, I did watch his 2013 and 2016 championship wins, I was really happy when he won his 6th and 7th championship, and now he’s officially part of the 75 greatest drivers, I’m so happy for Jimmie Johnson

NASCAR, Needs To Seriously Go Back, To The Original Chase Format, With The 2004-2006 10 Driver Format/2004-2013 10 Chase Race Format, With Chase Points.
Instead, Of Having The Elimination Playoffs Format From 2014, With The 16 Driver/4 Elimination Round/1st To The Finish Finale Format.
Let's be real. Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon were the best duo out there. They don't get enough credit. Go Jimmie, go Jeff.

I’m so happy to be able to say that I watched every single one of his wins with my dad. As big of a fan of Jimmie as I am, it wouldn’t have been as special if it wasn’t for dad being there to enjoy all of it with me.

@@rcguy902 nah, Dale Earnhardt never raced cleanly. Jimmie was a very clean racer. And new how to drive around guys instead of punting them. And no one has ever won 5 championships in a row. And also won in three different playoff formats. Like NASCAR literally had to change the format multiple times because Jimmie was so dominant in all of them. So there is no way in hell that Jimmie is overrated.

Also, Jimmie didn’t even start racing in NASCAR until he was fairly old for NASCAR standards. Which means he won all his championships in way less time than Dale and even Petty. So how about you stop d riding Dale on a literal Jimmie post.
