When after looking for the right version for half an hour and tens of the wrong ones, you suddenly feel sorrow creep up on you and tear up, you know you've found it...
Passionate rendition: this man's sensitivity is what makes this performance sublime. The subtle, yet unmistakable pauses, the slowly-building crescendos, followed by retreat, time after time: I can sense so much more from this classic piece of music than other artist's recordings. Simply joyful to mourn with the music. Bravisimo!
@@Psycho-da (New account) It's been quite the ride haha. First year went through a super bad depression, gained like an odd 130 lbs or so, stopped going out, blah blah blah. After that though been picking up the pieces and doing pretty great now. Frequenting the gym again like I used to--I've lost like 50 pounds so far, and I got accepted to my dream college: the Boston Conservatory. Things are looking up, and I'd like to think that my father is looking down with pride. If there's anything that I've learned from this ordeal is that there's no such thing as being too far gone.
I was looking for the best rendition of this piece on TH-cam and I wondered around tons of versions by the most reknown players and yet... I couldn't find the piece that my heart would feel is the one. And then lastly, I play this version and my surprise is so beautiful that Claudio which is Chilean like me, he played the version that my heart was looking for. I had no idea...
There used to be a version of this masterpiece in a very nice slow tempo, beautiful and haunting. But it seems that it does not exist on this platform anymore...
Soppy story, but my parents divorced when I was young, about 8. My parents would fight- really, really, nasty- nothing physical, but screaming and swipes at the air. And some nights, after a fight- late, late at night, my dad would sit down and play this song. And one night, I’d snuck out of bed and was snuggling my mom on the couch in the living room, listening to my dad playing in the other room, and she said, “I’ don’t know how anything so beautiful can come out of someone so hateful”. I’m not sure she should have said that to me, but she was hurting, and it’s always stuck with me, and given this song a special poignancy. My father is unreachably far from guiltless, but at least sympathetic in that he’s always been trapped as a very stubborn, complicated, emotionally quiet man, and I always felt like him playing this was his way of trying to apologize. The meaning has evolved as we’ve all aged (my siblings and I) and played it for each other over the years, in new contexts, and happier places, and it’s a truly beloved piece of the family. And this rendition is just our style- honestly, chef’s kiss So rare to see it played with such feeling and at such a gentle tempo
"I don't know how anything so beautiful can come out of someone so hateful" that words hits me hard, my ex left me yesterday because of my hate but she doesn't understand why I ended feeling that way, she doesn't know the flaming passion I have inside... She told to play this song for her and she would ask me to be her boyfriend, she never understood that she was already my girlfriend but the pain and fear of betray took out all the bad from me, now I only can play it alone and think why am I this way...
I hear you, and sympathize. You've been through much, but the fact that you came here, to hear this, says there is healing still ongoing, and you're growing and expanding your understanding. And if it's any consolation, however minor, do know that "perfect parents" don't generally produce great children, because they grew up not having to deal with adversity and stress. So for all their goods and ills, your parents have both contributed to the person you have become today. Take care, stay safe, have fun, and enjoy life to the fullest while learning and growing each day.
One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written, and the late great Arrau presented one of the greatest performances ever recorded. I so much wish I could have played this at my mother's funeral - she herself was so gifted at the piano, but taken so young; I was only eight at the time. But sadly, I still could not perform to anything compared to this magnificent artistry even today.
Holy Moses😮 The tempo is perfect and I’ve never heard better voicing. I think Arrau wrings every nuance possible out of this iconic piece. Certainly influences my performance of it. So impressive!
What a breathtaking and magical performance! I felt as if every note that was played came from their soul! I'm speechless and I have always loved this piece, so being able to see and hear it being played so beautifully is truly mesmerizing! Thank you so much for sharing this!

CrackEdd2 Please listen/watch Barenboim recorded live in Chicago. His timing and voicing are spectacular, simply breathtaking. He takes his time and EVERY note is overflowing with meaning and direction, resonance... Another great interpretation is Gulda’s. You’ll never go back to Schnabel or Kempff
¡No hables huevadas, Erick!...
I disliked it. Does that make me an idiot? I find this interpretation (much like Daniel Barenboim's) indulgent. I like the artists who can find the emotion in this piece without squashing and stretching it past its breaking point.
