Cory, your painting skills are unbelievable and I've been inspired to redo an old cupboard from years ago. It was far too heavy for me to take outside, but after watching you numerous times paint your pieces inside, I gave it a go. I wiped up the drips and splashes as I went but after dropping the paintbrush for the fourth time, my admiration of you went up a few more notches and I was rethinking the whole disaster. I think the secret is to not to put too much paint on the brush but that's a skill I haven't mastered yet. My cupboard is half done so I must keep going and I have my fingers crossed that things will run more smoothly. It's not looking too hopeful. You're amazing.
I have inherited my Mom's 1950's dome lid Lane cedar chest it's a blonde color and I love it, its in perfect shape. I love how you rescued this piece and it looks so updated. Your booth is charming and you stage everything in an appealing way! BTW Happy Mother's Day.
This piece turned out absolutely gorgeous, and I am completely shocked that you found it for $5.00!!! It never ceases to amaze it at what you uncover and are able to find at the Goodwill Bins. Love your videos and what you do with the pieces you find.
Mad City Modern did a Lane chest and even went to the old abandoned factory. He showed how to tell when your chest was built by the numbers on the back. I like what you did to it.
I met Barry from Mad City Modern at his booth! You both share a common decency of spirit! (You restore my faith in the goodness of our country ❤️) Plus you are both incredibly talented and inspiring.
Well done! The trunk came out stunning; move over, Ashley Furniture, because Desert DIY is in the house! It takes someone with a keen eye for color and beauty to spot treasures in the rough to begin with, to recreate them with new life, and then to bring them all together with such gorgeous staging. You're a natural at this. Go you! ETA: I follow a lot of TH-cam channels. Like, a LOT of TH-cam channels. I can count on one hand the number of TH-cam channels that get automatic likes (i.e., I punch the Like button automatically because I already know, without even watching the video yet, that I will love it). Your channel is one of them. I talk to a lot of people in my work, and I've already recommended your channel to people who enjoy DIYing and crafting and creating and saving money in the process.
OMG!!! I have this exact Lane chest that my parents lifted me for high school graduation in 1969. I love it and have been wanting to redo it forever. Thanks for the idea!!!
That trunk, omg that turned out so beautiful!!! Bravo! I love it. Your booth is also beautiful and if I lived close I would definitely be frequenting it. You of course do a marvelous job of staging and make everything look like something I should have at home! 😍💖💝 Also, with those prices things should be flying out of your booth left and right! The owners of the market should give you an extra stall! Love ya. PS YES to the historia sign, that would be so cool! Those chandeliers are so beautiful, I didn't even notice them before the end. Everything ties together SO well.
Thank you so much! I would love to have another stall but they rented out the one across from me without giving me a heads up that it was going to be available so I took that as a sign that I wasn't meant to have 2 right now.
Your boutique is perfectly charming! Looks upscale but your prices make it possible for everyone to enhance their space. And I am loving to see that second coat any time. Great job as always.
*Your booth looks beautiful Cory; nice staging and a lot of things I wouldn't mind having in my own home - including the 3 level, fancy wrought iron plant stand which is painted a pale chartreuse green❣️😍👍🏼*
I justvdid a lane cedar chest someone had painted it black so I sanded it and painted it white. Looks amazing. I love it when you can see your vision come to life.
Your booth is so beautiful. I want to buy so many of your things. The topiaries, the yellow round weather vane, the yellow/ brown framed art, the blue and white dishes, on and o. The fact you leave space between your items so one can see everything and each peice gets to be a focal point. I think k over crowding is a big mistake most booth owners make. Your booth is perfection.
My parents bought me a “Hope Chest” for a graduation gift in 1971 when I wanted a new bike. At least they took me to the furniture store to pick one out. Much to their dismay, i picked the Lane LIME GREEN with LOVE painted across the front. Yes I still have it, I’ve replaced the cushion top with a nice tapestry & painted it white. It lives in my cellar, i doubt that I will ever find a place for it my living area. 😊
I am so proud for you Cory! The cedar chest turned out so pretty. You are such a hard worker I hope your family appreciates you. Happy Mother’s Day! I like second coats best!
Chest turned out beautiful. Swear you n I have mostly same mindset in decor. I redid my chest coffee table few years ago almost identical to your redo. Personally I'm in the first paint coat seeing the vision coming to life. Booth looks amazing. Sign idea is an awesome idea. Happy Mother's Day to you n all other Mothers everywhere. Have a Blessed week
Hope you had a Happy Mom's Day, Cory! I love how the trunk turned out, y'all did a great job. Your booth is one I'd shop at if I lived closer, but alas, Illinois is a lil too far to travel.
That turned out beautiful… But one of the problems with the Cedar lane chest was lacking when little children climbed inside, so now they actually remove the locks so that that doesn’t happen… If you have the key, you’ll probably be safe, but make sure to keep an eye on the Littles
Chest turned out beautiful. Your booth looks great, very nicely styled . I think a sign with your business name would be great, especially something you and your husband did together.
I love your booth!! You have a real eye for staging, as well as creating wonderful pieces out of nothing! Wish I lived there so I could visit your shop!! Love from up here in Massachusetts!❤
The trunk looks fabulous! I noticed that you have a print of the painting called, Grace, in your booth. My paternal grandmother worked for the photographer, Eric Enstrom, and also knew the man in the original photograph. He was a peddler. I am originally from Minnesota.
*My favorite to watch is the second coat of paint. The first coat is always streaky and blah and I always want to just get past that part, already, so that the piece FINALLY STARTS TO LOOK GOOD, not all splotchy‼️🙉💯 I agree that it's always fun to see the hardware get installed. 😉🤎👌*
Nice score on the Lane chest Cory!! Your booth is beautiful!! It's fun to see the items that you have picked up from the bins and spruced up displayed in your booth!!
Corry, It is beautiful and looks new! Love the booth. It is so cool to see things start a new life because of you. Keeping things out of the land fill for another long life. You also have great prices in your booth. You have it fixed up so cute. The door project was so original. Loved it the most!!
I have this exact cedar chest, the locks were recalled several years ago. You can contact the company to send you the update for free. Can not wait to watch how you do this!
02:06 Emphatically no!!! 😱😂 I like getting individual pieces that don't match, but go together very well. To me, it creates more interest in a room, and can be a source for conversation, for those who don't find it easy to do so. 😉 All my pieces have a story behind them. I'm sure most of your accessories are the same. 😁🥰
I totally understand that! I think a lot of men tend to like things to match and be streamlined. At least the men I know lol. But I appreciate a mix of things and also like matching things too.
Great job on the Lane chest. LOVED the photo of you and your husband (on the Square Space ad)…would love to see it as your profile picture since he’s been so helpful with many of your projects!
Hi Cory! The black letters will look great no question. Also if you thrift the letters randomly and mix and match, that would be cool too! The thrift stores are full of letters of different materials and colors. It just popped into my head that you should decoupage letters in your signature blue and while. I guess this is me telling you that personally I am tired of just black lettering!
Your booth looks great. I do feel like you could put a lot more items in it. A few more shelves and some larger baskets under the table too. Your pup is adorable!
Cory the cedar chest turned out beautifully!!! I have one that belonged to my mama. That's how she met my dad. He delivered it to her. It has some carvings and is just beautiful. Do you have a video that shows the dark Grey table in your shop? Very nice .

That really looks good. I bought one of those trunks at a yard sale for 15.00. the tore the lock to pieces. Mine was rough but I needed a seat for the grandkids and a toy box. They are young so they enjoy sitting on it to read. $15.00 for a Lane cedar chest was a great deal. I love how you did yours. I've been thinking mine needs to be lighter. @@DesertDIY well, it went to another address that they had listed in their profile as the ship to. But wanted me to ship it somewhere else. Now they want me to get it back and ship to a address they messaged me with. I have the funds, it was paid for. But now the package is sitting in a p.o. box.
