I just redid my daughters nightstand this weekend and the whole time I was thinking, "what would Cory do?" I think it turned out good. For sure like starting upside down
Como siempre, no me pierdo uno de tus videos, lloré contigo cuando paso lo de tu perrita, pero ahora quiero comentar que tus manos se ven preciosas. Están muy elegantes. Bien por ti
The blue plate with the bunny is Danish. They used to be quite collectible but times have changed. They issued a new design every yet for Christmas and there are Mother’s Day plates also but may be from a different maker
I liked all the vignettes! My favorite was the white with the cups and bunny. I also really liked the wood item with the greenery! You have a good eye!
25:32 liked everything. I would put flowers or greenery coming out of that metal container you laid on its side. Paint that mail holder.and put the bunny on that candle holder sconce.
It’s amazing how a trip to the thrift store is an inspiration for decor, finding unique pieces and thrifting them to create something much more unique than if you bought them ready made at a regular store. Look at that church for example, that became a Hogwarts/ slightly spooky building. - that could also have become a really amazing gingerbread house with a warmer brown paint. 🥰
Cory, i just started watching your videos about a week ago. You instantly became one of my top thrifter-flipper-reseller's to watch! I am hooked for sure & subscribed part way thru the first video I saw in my feed! Loved the vignette you created. My favorite things were the pumpkin with the scroll design, woodland bunny, and the lantern. Great finds!
Loved all of it! I was laughing at myself while you were painting the church! I found a couple of Christmas village houses that I thought would look cute in what was supposed to be a fairy garden. (It's become a "chipmunk garden" since cute little chipmunks moved in!) Anyhow, I painted out all of the snow on the houses......only to realize a few days later that I'd grabbed the wrong paint so I had snow in summer!
The closest Goodwill to us is over an hour away....IF traffic isn't bad, which is NEVER. LOL That's why I so enjoy seeing YOUR hauls. The ONLY thrift store for miles and miles near me is a "Mom and Pop" small business which accepts donations but sources the bulk of their inventory from storage facility auctions. Am grateful to say we've been lucky to score some great things from that little store over the years. But I still wish a Goodwill or Salvation Army were closer. Blessings to your family for your hurricane hassles.
Hi Corey, I've been following you for awhile now. Love your style & your honesty about everything. I'm in Australia & we certainly don't have thrift shops like you have. Thanks for keeping me inspired ❤
I am praying for everyone there to recover from the hurricane! I love the lamp! You got some great items.your nails look amazing. Very pretty. I buy most everything from thrift stores. Obviously not underwear but my girls will buy bras and was them as soon as they get home. Nothing wrong with a Hogwarts house in the living room. I love it.
Thank you so much! We are kindred spirits that is for sure! I used to buy used shoes all the time growing up and never even thought about the germs until I went to boot camp and people started getting athletes foot! I never knew any of that existed and since then I won't do used shoes but anything I can wash and disinfect is fine to me. Thanks for the prayers I know many people are thankful for the prayers
Love both decor ideas have to say the second one is my favorite though. Wow you find the best coffee table books. Thrift stores in my area are really not the best to shop in so I usually have to take trips into Asheville NC for thrifting plus they have the most amazing Habitat Resale Store in Biltmore. Have an awesome week.
I love how you staged everything. The lamp reminds me of one I found in a thrift store. It’s an actual blue and white teapot. I haven’t found the right shade for it yet
Thank you, Cory! You seem like such a nice person. How sweet of you to hold a sale for folks who probably lost their homes and belongings in the hurricane. May God bless you and your family. Thank you so much for the inspiration, and your kindness. I volunteer at a local church thrift/consignment store here in NH. Pricing depends on whom is doing the pricing. We are all pretty fair however which is nice because EVERYTHING up here is expensive!
Girl, yes! Everything gets wiped or washed! I have a friend who thrifts and she gave me a Christmas gnome last year and it had rat poop on it. I was too embarrassed for her to mention it but I ended up throwing it away.
That blue & white elephant teapot lamp is adorable. 🥰Good choice in gluing down the lid. 👍 😁 The gnome trio are really cute, as is the little bunny. I was glad to hear your power came back; 11 days is pretty major. 😲😱I remember the first time I walked out of a Value Village without having bought anything. 😲 That was the beginning of the end of my thrifting habit. Not a bad thing, given my age and available space. 🤔😉😂 See you next time, Cory. 😍🤩😘🤗👌👋
I’m not seeing much of you I have my alert on All but never get an alert. You are my favorite DIY’er please keep me in your prayers and let me know when you do a post❤❤❤
Once more Corey, a great video with lots of ideas. Love the tin vases and ball and the Elephant lamp. Already looking forward to your next video.thanks.
Good morning sunshine!😎 I always enjoy watching your channel and see what awesome finds you come across. I also love the different and creative ways you style pieces, especially when it's outside the intended purpose. I'm BIG on finding decor for less! That's how I roll 💯😉👍 I have been trying to find an open face hutch top just like the one that you found and let me tell ya, it's not easy here in NC!! I've even though of repurposing my old TV armoire but I want a solid wood, more vintage piece. With hat said, I can't wait to see what you do with that hutch top you found!😍🎯 I want to find a decent one that I can take down to the bare wood & do a neutral paint-wash... pray for me! 🙏😉🥰 My ideas far exceed items that I find here so I'm living vicariously through you. God bless and I pray that your booth event is a BIG SUCCESS!!🙏😃👍🥰
20 years ago I stacked books to get my bedside table lamp the appropriate height. They are still there to this day. lol I don’t bring home anything I can’t launder or run through the dishwasher or wipe down with wipes with the exception of embroidery floss and yarn. Those items I have a multiple day Lysol spray routine! lol 😂 Love that lamp! I would snap it up in a heartbeat so be sure to price it accordingly.
Thank you! Oh boy this years fall decor is going to be my best yet!!!! And i get to decorate my booth, too! I am so excited! I hope you have a great day too!
Hi Cory, I enjoyed going thrift shopping with you today . It's always fun to see all the useful stuff you find at The Bends. I'm also a thrifter so many treasures out there. I have furnished my apartment with furniture, art work, nick necks, etc. All from thrifting. It been fun. I love it no sales tax My love seat and chair I did have reapolstered but both were of good bones Lazy boy and Ethan Allen .I just found 3 pictures by Nancy Noel there of Amish Children I love her paintings. It's been fun today ! Have a great week . Take care until next time 😊 Nevada
Well you always seem to get the most amazing stuff! We don't have goodwill bins here in New Zealand, I'm very jealous! Our thrift stores are extremely overpriced and not very well stocked at all and so hard to find vintage treasures! I love that little teapot lamp, the mail organizer and the cast iron candle holder!
I have that exact Royal Copenhagen blue bunny plate from Denmark. My grandparents came from Denmark and they collected those plates. Only a certain number were made each year. There were two styles, one had a border rim and one did not and they collected both. They are near and dear to my heart. I find it sad to see them at a thrift shop. I’m glad you picked it up.
I had a dictionary like the one you found for 1953. It was on our school supply list. Think I used it all through grade school. I started 1st grade in 1952.
I just happen to stumble across your channel a few weeks ago, and I can’t stop watching your flips. Thank you for so the helpful hints. I need to visit Texas again for the great goodwill bins. There’s only one in my area.
Love your channel. I love going to the Goodwill stores. Though have never been to the goodwill bins. I am excited about shopping at the bins. I love your decorating style and how well it all fits together and it looks highend. ❤
So glad you made it through the storm okay. My sister went home that Wednesday and her power came on that evening. I really need to hit not only my Goodwill, but also a thrift store nearby.
I love your vingettes! Using stacked books as a riser is pure genius - cheaper and so much more visually interesting. This makes me wish I had a goodwill bins near me. Best of luck on your upcoming sale!
So many nice things. I simply love the books. I can't find old books in my area. I volunteer at a Thrift Store and haven't seen any come through the building. The Elephant Teapot Lamp was super cute. After watching my fav TH-camrs, I'm finally getting into styling and stacking vignettes.
I have a question and please bear with me as I’m genuinely curious and I am not saying anything bad about Cory, I’m from Australia so maybe it’s different in the US? So for starters we don’t call any of them thrift stores, we have second hand stores the majority of which are affiliated with a charity. Then we have antique stores and some that are a combination of antiques, vintage and second hand stores that are usually owned not associated with a charity and this is what I think would be comparable to what you guys call Booths? So what I’m asking is how many of your thrift stores are affiliated with charities? Because when I watch thrift flipping videos I get surprised at how many of them are complaining about the prices being too high in the thrift store when they plan to on sell it for what sometimes seems to me to be a rather large profit, which if that thrift store is affiliated with a charity that then comes across to me as rather selfish since it looks like they seem to not be thinking of charity and also therefore not of people in need that the charity helps. But then they are happy to talk about how much they can sell the items for, which to is essentially to just bragging about how much they were able to their own pockets at the expense of the charity. However if the thrift stores are a junk/vintage store out to make a profit then yes I agree some of them do seem to be asking a lot for some of the items. I’m asking here under your post because it is The very first comment related to a charity on any of the multiple channels I watch.
I believe Goodwill (which is where I mostly shop) is still a non-profit technically. They receive their merchandise for free and many believe that it is greedy to ask high prices for something you got for free and then set on a shelf. Many people have expressed to me that they think Goodwill does not do much to help the community. These feelings are so common that they have made a page on their website to try and dispel these "myths". People who resell spend hours searching for items, cleaning them, fixing them, etc which is why they have to ask more for the items. Also, many low income families and individuals rely on thrift stores asking low prices for their used and often very dirty or in need of repair items. Something I have seen recently is that a lot of people will say "I refuse to donate to Goodwill" and will post their free items on facebook for people to pick up or they will donate to other charities. In my mindset, I think of it as more of asking what something is actually worth. I have seen Goodwill ask 2-5 dollars for items that were from the dollar store originally. Other times they will ask "new" prices on used things. This is where people are getting so upset. I do not support people flipping and asking ridiculous prices. I think that is wrong, which is why I don't do that.
Luv as always!, Now Corey, I am awake on lack of sleep and kinda of punchy because of pain. I had a hysterical laugh while drinking coffee because I am wondering what you do when you try on clothes at thrift stores!!!!😂
I disinfect everything as well, with anything fabric, like the gnomes that you bought, or stuffed animal or anything similar in a plastic bag with a fabric sheet, and put it in the freezer for 24 hours. It will kill anything. And the fabric softener she makes it smell good.
Love what you do, really enjoy your channel! I have no thrift stores where I live! Sad!!! But I still try to find items to remake and reuse! Be well, glad you are safe from the Hurricane!
My son in law is a lineman. He just spent almost 2 weeks there restoring power. I was shocked at the stories of the attacks on them. They left their families and traveled a long ways to there and to be treated like that as I said I’m just shocked. I’m happy you got your power back. The motel they put them in didn’t have power either. He said it was so hot.
It was a natural disaster, and we did not have power in almost all of houston. Millions of people. People died in the heat in their homes. Many of the stories about the attacks were fake. There was only one story that was true out of all the ones I heard about. They even wrote a news article about all the fake stories and debunked them. Our community had many people buying them food, restaurants served them free, haircuts free, etc. I bought them Gatorade and bug spray myself. People would stand outside and cheer for them, thank them, drive by them and honk and cheer. Our neighborhood was 2nd to last to be restored so we were in it for a very long time. Also, gas stations did not have gas which caused mass panic. It was a horrible situation and I can only speak about our community, but from what I saw the linemen were treated like heroes and were showered with love and appreciation. I think everyone was miserable as a collective for 2 weeks. We are still having power outages in our area. Today the power has been out for over an hour already. It's going to be a long road to recovery. Please don't believe all the stories you hear about all these attacks because they were proven to be fake except for one. 99% of the time everyone here was doing everything they could to make the linemen comfortable even though they had no power and ac or food themselves.
I just redid my daughters nightstand this weekend and the whole time I was thinking, "what would Cory do?" I think it turned out good. For sure like starting upside down

Me re-doing end tables right now 😂
Corey, you’re so thoughtful of others, its uncommon & refreshing. Elizabeth
Thank you Elizabeth! Hopefully if we all start being thoughtful and kind it will rub off on the others who are not

That's a cute idea!

I love the carved pumpkin and Hogwarts castle
Those are my favorite too. Im keeping those ones I think!
@@DesertDIY I wonder if there is a way to hang the pumpkin.
Luv as always!, Now Corey, I am awake on lack of sleep and kinda of punchy because of pain. I had a hysterical laugh while drinking coffee because I am wondering what you do when you try on clothes at thrift stores!!!!😂
Hahahaha I just put it on over my clothes while I'm waiting in line and if I don't like it I fling it back into a nearby bin lol.
