Assuming these folks worked 365 days per year (unlikely because of the cold) they laid 3km of rail per day (4360 km from Ottawa to Vancouver and CPR was done in 4 years). How does that make any sense whatsoever when you also factor in supply lines, blowing holes through mountains and building structurally sound bridges using people that don't speak English? I'm sorry I call BS.

Yeah just like the american did to their transcontinental railroad your coolies ancestors had the really big part with low paid workers willing to work on the railroad just to sustain a better living in the west they were able to finished the railroad connecting the east and to move eastern immigrant whites to the prairies
Doing research for work, Thanks this is quite an informative video about the CPR, i can't say i am sad or proud that the Chinese are a part of the construction with harsh working conditions, but i am really glad that Canada made it and survived and didn't get annexed, since its such a beautiful and peaceful place to live, just being grateful.

The Chinese did not build the Canadian Railroad they built a portion of the railroad in mostly British Columbia. The Chinese labourers were brought in to finish the hardest part of the railroad that ran through the mountains to the coast. They played a very important part in the building of the railroad.
I love Canada, I come from a railroad family, much love and respect. I just cant move there untill you get rid of this " royal ' nonsense. I love snow, hockey , can handle -20 fahrenheit but I refuse to bow down to "royalty" as I refuse to American Imperilism. Just kick the queen out, I got skills, and would pledge my life.

The Liberals formed a new government under Alexander Mackenzie in November 1873, and a new general election was held in 1874, in which voters sustained the new Liberal government.
