- This video explains beta oxidation of fatty acids in a detailed way. This video also explains ATPs generated from beta oxidation of a fatty acid. Fatty acid oxidation is a series of reactions where a fatty acid is oxidized to give acetyl CoA molecules. Fatty acids are oxidized in the matrix of mitochondria.

Hello Dr. Mungli, I'm wondering why glucose is the main source of energy, but fatty acid isn't, since the energy out put of a 16 Carbon fatty acid molecule is much more than a glucose molecule?
For most tissues gcose is the source of energy only when the person is in fed state. Because evolutionarily during fed state body stores excess glucose as fat. When person gets into fasting state then this fat which is energetically more efficient than glucose is released to take care of the energy needs of the body until the food is available.
thank you very much for your quick response. By the way, your videos are really helpful, I will definitely come back for more of your quality, education contents.
Sir shall I write this beta oxidation of fatty acid for my exam
thank you so much, it makes more sense now
You are most welcome.
Sir I can't find the video on activation of fatty acids? Please guide me...
thax sir
You are most welcome
Why the last cycle take 4carbons not 2 carbon s
because in each spiral there is release of acetyl CoA so in the last spiral four carbons are released two acetyl CoA
😎
