99% of any crowd won't know them, but what a fantastic band. Interestingly, they did play in Tennessee (not sure what city) when supporting the album Hats, probably 1990. A wonderful version of "Headlights on the Parade" from that show was added as a bonus track on the Hats reissue.
One of the best things about the internet for a music lover is that i can come across a band i otherwise would never have been exposed to and listen to their catalogue and covers of their songs within the first 2 weeks of hearing of them. Imagine the work that would have taken 25 years ago, all the cds to buy, vhs etc
Here I am, Christmas Eve 2021…a few whiskeys deep and listening to a Blue Nile cover craving The Blue Nile and wanting to be wished away to a Blue Nile world. Merry Xmas all ✌🏻
Green Street really?!? This is a pretty good cover but this song and ‘Hats’ is just magical - nothing can trump Paul’s voice! The most underrated band of all-time.
Did you send it to him yet? I would love to hear what he thought! There's also something I want to send to him because I wrote a song recently which is a little bit of an hommage to his style of singing. Do you know how I could get in touch?
Paul Buchanan is every Scottish Uni students go to artist at some point in their learning years to lend a bit credibility to their musical tastes. So given the fact she's an ex Uni student, it was more about when, not if when it came to covering one of their songs. Esp given that they pretty much share the same musical genre.
If anyone has missed it - look up Paul Buchanan’s contribution to the Bowie tribute at the Royal Albert Hall, during the ‘Proms’ season, shortly after Bowie’s sad demise. 👍🏻
This is one of my favourite songs ever, and I admire your attempt to cover it, but you really haven't caught the vibe - unlike the cover by Annie Lennox which is ALMOST as good as the original. ❤❤
Wow, never thought I'd see this track played so well by anyone else but the 'Nile... A shame about the blonker with his big loaf obscuring the recording....
I'm a Glasgow lad, The Blue Nile are sublime!!! Why listen to covers? Listen to the brilliant original songs of this fantastic band!!! 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
99% of that crowd doesnt know the Blue Nile, and i love it
Guaranteed. You could tell when she introduced the song. She said Blue Nile and it was dead silent.

Not the case if performing in Scotland
As a lifelong Blue Nile fan, does my heart good to hear a young band do this justice
I'm guessing you started listening to TBN when you were still a baby then.
Every time I hear the Downtown Lights I cry. I dunno why. Instant emotions.
wait till you hit 72, lol
Beautiful version - yes I miss the Blue Nile so much …thanks you for your music - and Churches for such a great version
For people who don't know, Blue Nile is from the same home town as Chvrches.
Nice version. Makes me miss The Blue Nile and especially The Scottish Sinatra that is Paul Buchanan..
The Scottish Sinatra🖤
My dad called him that back in the 80s. I did not get it at the time but I do now.
Good job guys … I’m 66 and the Blue Nile are my go to band, when I look for a bit of melancholy. Pure bathing culture gave it a good go too … … ✅👍
72 here,

Best Blue Nile cover on TH-cam by a mile is Lucia & The Best Boys - this one is great.
Jesus they need to put out a recording of this.
This does my old heart good, well done!
This is one of my favourite songs ever, thanks so much for singing it
Thank you for uploading this!! :D Chvrches and The Blue Nile are two of my favorite bands.
Same, I got onboard with the Blue Nile from their debut album "A Walk Across the Rooftops".
Great great!
The only thing, what can beat this, is the epic original...
Fantastic job,love,love that song!
Nice one … The Blue Nile - Genius 🎶👏🏽🎶👏🏽
Such a great song
Wow. Good job on the vocals. Very soulful and "in" the song.
I love how 80s this sounds.
That's probably because The Blue Nile wrote and recorded it in the mid 1980's in Glasgow.
The Blue Nile is near the top of the mountain for 80s sophisticated popcraft.

Glasgow music royalty.
Timeless and ageless
Timeliness I would say
Didnt realise i accidentally pressed thumbs down to this for like 5 years.
Brilliant cover
Defo thumbs up 👍👍👍

Sure he is
the singers sound good together.
Sublime beautiful lovely cover G of Leith 😁
Greatness. On a Blue Nile kick this November 2020.
That Churches chose that band, and that song to cover, speaks to their genius.

I WAS THERE UGH IT WAS AMAZING
Well done !
Now all they need to do is cover the reindeer section :)
Que belles a con que sulfur a cant a la guapa vocalista

Funny how majority of the crowd are unfamiliar with The Blue Nile. Hopefully all of them eventually went out and started hunting out Blue Nile albums.

Quite often - the original is best.
If you want to find out how great the original was:

nope.
"this is a song by The Blue Nile"...crickets.
Clueless audience.
Check out Keane's cover, infinitely better.
Raoul Solarino Haha, you beat me to it. Blue Nile is releasing their first 3 albums on vinyl in Nov 2019 for anyone interested.
I'm a Glasgow lad, The Blue Nile are sublime!!! Why listen to covers? Listen to the brilliant original songs of this fantastic band!!! 🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴🏴💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙💙
@@georgegray6267 The very best. Covers don't real do it. Just need to say two words - "Andrea Corr" 😱😱😱😱
Some songs should not be covered. Good attempt, but just nowhere good enough. I'm not sorry for saying so. Best wishes, anyway. 😊
Well done!!
