Please answer my questions Astro. I numbered them for your convenience sorting your answers. First a little backstory to further help you out. I run ps5 to new A50s. I had a bunch of audio and video issues with the adapter y'all sold me that is specd for 2.0b instead of 2.1 which made me unable to play at 120hz. I removed the ps5 adapter and plugged the Astro base station optical cable directly into my t.v. (sony X90J). This SOLVED all my audio and video issues with the A50s. Now i am trying to work out the best quality low latency 3D audio and this is where your answers to my questions come in. I do have the best wires btw. 1) If i run hdmi 2.1 from my ps5 to my t.v. port supporting 2.1 eARC (with t.v. audio set to dolby) and with the optical cable running game audio from the t.v., (i know its capped at 5.1), to the Astro base station will i still get dolby 5.1 without the adapter in the setup? 2) I'm not sure if the Astro a50 base station is the av amplifier or if the adapter was, I'm trying to figure out which audio setting to use on the ps5, "t.v." or "av amplifier". I'm guessing the t.v. setting because the game audio is coming to the t.v. from the ps5 and moving from the t.v. to the base station via optical cable. What do you think? 3) this may sound stupid but im not an audio engineer, is the usb soundcard mentioned in your ads a computer thing only? 4) which is best for my goals stated above do you think, turning off dolby on the base station and using astro sound for 3D audio or turn on dolby for both ps5 and astro base station which turns off 3D audio to the t.v. automatically in ps5 settings? (Probably not good to turn off 3D audio to t.v. since optical runs it from t.v. to astro) 5) i changed audio priority to pcm from dolby. Is this a good idea? All i can research says pcm makes the ps5 process the audio and is what the game developers used when making the game. So its supposed to have no latency at all but im worried about not being able to get 3D sound to my a50s. Can i still get 3D sound while prioritizing pcm? 6) does the Astro base station support ARC or eARC? 7) Why does your ads say a50s are specd at 7.1 when optical is capped at 5.1? (Im assuming because 7.1 is only capable on the pc) Thank you for you time in answering my questions. I know some are kinda complicated so if you need additional information please let me know. I tried to be as thorough as possible. Thx again and look forward to hearing from you!

Bro the optical output is so easy to set up through your TV with the mix amp, plug your optical into your TV go into input and it should say Astro mix amp, then go down to output and put it to to TV speakers then the 2.3 channel should show in the ps5 settimgs and 3D should go blank then go down to all audio and change it to chat audio for you chat, the go to your HDMI settings make sure it says bitsream or it migh say it on your ps5 were it says linear pcm or Dolby depending on your TV , my TV is LG CX so my bitsream was under HDMI the ps5 was plugged into so when you press Dolby on your mix amp it works, trust me bro this works just watch Canada GT he shows you and I did mine through my Astro A50 amplifier and it works perfect,
The 3D surround is banging on usb on the Astro A50s though but optical is for more of your Cold War games or FPS games but if your happy with usb, but try my way and it works cos your mix amp does all the work your TV is just a passthrough so the adapter there's no need if your TV has optical plus you get 4k 120htz on my TV through optical through TV too good luck and enjoy 👍
@@footballasylum6239 I use an AOC C27G2 165hz monitor it doesnt have Optical Out. USB works good. I'm also on PS4 Slim which doesnt have Optical Out.
Im just trying to figure out why I can’t hear anything through my tv while I have my a20s (for the ps4) turned off.
What about Digital Output on PC? In other words how do we properly connect it to our PC? May I add that I have Dolby Digital License purchased as well.
@astrogaming it’s been three months ever since I asked a question and you still haven’t answered mine or any others as well. Disliking the video as it was said to ask questions if you have any.
I would love too know this aswell
Unfortunately with the gen 3 a50’s you still need to use optical as default device in order to use dolby atmos
why would you use that crap? dont use dolby atmos
Why can’t I get audio on my Xbox? I’ve bought Dolby and updated everything I can and I still can’t hear a thing through my mixamp. I’m starting to regret buying these headphones to be honest
It would be great if It had a stream port though, I’ve had to go back to the a40’s due to having a dual pc stream setup
I’m using astro A40 tr + mixamp pro on Xbox series x, what I would like to know when using Dolby atmos for headphones and the Dolby access app I understand the dobly access app does all the work now but on the mixamp pro do I still turn on the dobly or put it in star mode?
2024 I need help…
I have Astro TR40 and a yeti Nano
Like how can I split my discord audio and game audio. Because it’s all picking up under the same one and it’s pretty annoying
i did what was shown in this video and i hear no audio still
It sucks that the hdmi splitter doesn’t work with my 1440p monitor 😢
When I set the 'Game' to default, I can't hear shit. I have to set the 'voice' device to default to hear anything. WTF am I doing?
Can the aux port on the back of the a50 gen 4 base station be used to OUTPUT all the audio I hear in my headset into a capture card via 3.5mm cable to a capture card?
Ever find out ? Im curious too
Are you making next gen a40s/a50s?
I mean, I know the answer is yes; But the real question is: when will they release? Next year? Or is there a chance for this year?
Bro if you have have optical in your TV and if it's 2.1hdmi run the optical through your TV and it works perfect at 4k 120htz for my gen 4 Astro A50s, watch Canada GT he will show you how to passthrough your TV and get optical without the restricted adapter, trust me iam using it myself and the Astro A40 mix amp is even easier to connect, good luck happy gaming 👍
They are already next gen it's now saying on box PS4 ps5 PC or Xbox one Xbox series X PC
@@footballasylum6239 1. I don't have optical in TV
2. They aren't next gen, they are next gen compatible.
@@MacikSeba yup , I’m going to wait for the true next gen update
I bought them for my Xbox s they don’t have an optical plug in but I can’t hear my game audio but only party chat I’m stuck at the moment I’m not sure if I should return them or not
i cant change Voice/Game Sound with the ride Bub on my A40 TR Mixamp, is dosnt working on PC..not in discord, Teamspeak or whatever, all get louder and quieter with the change in one direction.
I hope you guys announce a new generation of headsets + MixAmps soon. :)
Astro A50 + MixAmp Pro would be perfect. 🤩
is there a sample on how to connect the stream port with and xlr mic mixer?
(Probably not good to turn off 3D audio to t.v. since optical runs it from t.v. to astro)
5) i changed audio priority to pcm from dolby.
(Im assuming because 7.1 is only capable on the pc)
Thank you for you time in answering my questions. I know some are kinda complicated so if you need additional information please let me know. I tried to be as thorough as possible. Thx again and look forward to hearing from you!
XD
😂😂 c’mon
Hi, I'm having an issue I've been using Astro A50 for a while now, and the audio has never worked for game only for voice. I've tried making the game audio the main etc and still nothing. When I make it the main it says there's a little bit of audio but I can't hear anything
Same issue for my pc. The mic works but no audio
Did you solve the problem?
I have an a40 and mix amp. I’ve been using on my Xbox series x with no problems. When I adjust voice and game with the right knob it works good. I just switched over to pc and I have audio but I cannot adjust the voice chat. I can use the left knob fine to raise and lower actual audio output but with the right knob nothing changes. I have it plugged in with usb to my pc and the switch set to pc. Please help
So can I have surround sound without the Astro adapter on PS5 ?
I have Xbox one X series.
I run HDMI from Xbox to TV
I then run optical cable straight from Tv to my receiver.
I’m running 2 x kef surround speakers with a base box.
(My receiver has the eArc by pass what ever it is feature. But I found this to be really confusing)
Sounds great. But I don’t have that perfect surround sound.
How can I get the best out of what I’ve got? Is there a 3D sound setting or something like that. I’m new to gaming. Tia
Can I switch my Audio between my Astro and the optical audio? I wanna game on the headset and when i just wanna hear music i want switch to my Speakers
So do I need the optical cable to game on my PC? I just bought a new motor and it doesn’t have an optical port for my optical cable. Neither does my gaming PC.
My Astro A40 TR headset has audio for pro voice but not pro game and i play on pc
You should have audio for both but for odd reasons the pro voice sounds better but the pro game will sound funny is tht the problem your having?
How do I get the Astro microphone from my A40’s to produce output, when I am using a y splitter to the Astro mixamp on an Xbox?
Currently the A40’s are connected to the microphone side on the splitter and the earbuds I have are connected to the headphone jack. Astro mixamp is getting power from the Xbox via usb.
I am able to hear sound just not able to speak in game chat or party chats.
On xbox astro should give us in doby access ASTRO AND TOURNAMENT Presets on custom profiles to replace or simulate the presets on the mixamp pro tr.
So with the series s/x the mix amp receives seperate channels for game chat and game sound. Why then can we NOT mute game and system sounds coming out the stream port? I cannot use my capture card audio since both my Chet and game audio comes out the stream port. Even when in the mix amp the game audio level is muted in the stream port mixer.
The adapter get really hot is that normal? Is there a chance it could possibly damage the ports on either the system, adaptor or the cables? Any info is appreciated.
Mine did when i had it installed. I had to take it out the set up because i couldn't run 120hz from the ps5 to my t.v. due to the adapter supporting 2.0b instead of 2.1
@@TheSoulWinnersGuide you don’t need the adapter if you own tv
@@o_KingOfKings_o i said that
Question on a50 gen 3: it’s not charging fully, the last line on the charging base it’s blinking but never full. When I pick up the headset it dies completely! Can I plug in directly to Xbox series x via sub cable?
On the ps5 is it best to use 2 channel linear pcm or 5.1 channel Dolby. Astro a50 gen 4 with hdmi adapter with a channel changer between 2 channel and 5.1.
Dont use an adapter, you cant use 4 120hz with it
Why do my GEN 4 A50’s always have a high pitch ringing in the left driver when connected with micro usb to Xbox series x? Updated all the way and actually on my second set because the first pair did the same thing and so do the new ones I just got. $200-300 headset and all these hoops and hurdles to jump through just to try and get them to function properly on the console it’s labeled to support. Usb Audio sucks
The support you created for ps5 does not support hdmi 2.1 with astro a40. How can I fix? #astrogaming
please tell your design team not to release an unfinished product for your next wireless headset launch.
hi , i got a Astro A50 Gen.4. I want to use this Headphones with the Optical cable. Cause this is better Quality than per USB right ? I got an Audio Card in my Gaming PC with optical OUT but i still dont know how to setup this . can u help me ?

Optical to PC and USB to Xbox S….. please help
Why is my headset mic not recognised? Xbox series x. The dac is updated,I get game audio, I can hear chat but on the xbox home screen it displays no mic symbol
Switch to pc mode then to Xbox then it should work. You have to do this every time for the mic to work
in geforce experience audio settings, should it be game or voice? when i record my voice sounds really low
so with your device why can't i get 2.1 HDMI, i'm losing 4k with my monitor? why didn't you suggest using MINI USB DAC? you wouldn't have to use HDMI part of it and lose the 2.1 HDMI you can still use optical cable with the MINI USB DAC and you get the 2.1 HDMI
So do I use the optical cord on PC for any specific reason? Both USB and Optical? Just optical? Ect? For the best possible sound.
I only have my usb plugged in but I’m wondering if optical would be better. Hopefully someone replies haha
Hi guys, so i had the same question. I'm am xbox series x user. I tried both for days and finally decided on usb and not optical(through spitter or back off tv passthrough). Heres why, I use dolby atmos and optical can't pass atmos through, it can only pass dolby 5.1. As far as the actual sound, the usb with atmos sounds better to my ear than atmos...not like mind blowing better, but there is a difference. If I had never used atmos, I would have stayed with optical as it sounds great as well. But given atmos and how easily tweakable the eq's are, for me, atmos won me over
could u do a video on what the stream connection for on the back
I can’t talk unless line 2 is selected
Is there a way to connect to my Xbox Series X and PC at the same time with my Astro A40 + Mixamp, and hear both devices at the same time and be able to use the mic on xbox. I'm only trying to use one headset for both of my devices.
Can I use the USB on my sound bar to connect it to my Xbox? I don't have an optical input on my TV

i believe i have the gen 1 or gen 2 a50 halo edition... is there any way to set these up for use on my pc without the optical cable?
@astrogaming When using Xbox Series X the Astro Command Centre in the stream port section I have tried to mute all audio apart from the chat audio but unfortunately it still pulls through the game audio. Is there a fix for this?
I have a ps5 and the A59 adapter. It was working great until I switched my tv to a “smart tv” and now my a50s have reverted back to how they were acting before I bought the adapter. Does anyone have a fix for this?

You gonna tell people you can’t play 120fps when you use the adapter or let them find out when they buy it like I did
Wait are you telling me I can’t play 1440p 120Hz on Xbox series x when I plug this in
You can but only 1080p 120fps sdr , there are better adapter in Amazon, the problem Astro adapter are cap at 14 bandwidth and no the full 2.0
