"And here's why I did X" is peak TH-cam titling, love it. Also enjoyed the video, not the biggest porter fan but impressed you managed to get pretty close with the recipe!
Nice can crusher I always wanted to do that to save space and get more in a bag, however in in Vermont they won't accept crushed cans at the redemption center which I think is dumb but it comes down to them being able to scan a barcode on the can or something.
Another question: I am interested in that chocolate + black patent reference made. I am designing a lager that is the majority oat malt, but I wanted to add some colour and flavour to it - perhaps to a 10 to 12 srm. Could some combination of chocolate and black patent give something interesting without being overly dark and roasty?
An ounce or two of black patent would work, but (for a lager) I would recommend something like Black Prinz or Midnight Wheat if you want color without the flavor. I prefer MidnightWheat between the two. It has a slightly higher SRM (550 vs 500), and it contributes a pleasant sweetness (and, in sufficient quantity, mild roastiness and chocolate).
I've had a table sour that turned out very nice. It over attenuated and hit 3.4%, but was designed to be about 2.5%. I find that at very low ABV you are usually looking for hop or yeast flavors more than malt (unless you do a very warm mash, obviously).
Holy transitions, Martin! This edit is rad. Cool project as well.
Thanks Martin. These videos are always so helpful...even for those who have been brewing forever.
Very cool!

Love your videos! Especially your dnd beer series. Two of my favorite things combined :D
@@tomobarker oh hey thanks :)
thanks for the info on epiphany malt. I just moved to the area and I'll check them out.
I forgot that other states don't have bottle deposits, and got frightened by the can crusher's appearance! Great brew and fun video as always!
Great video! Good on ya!
hope this video start a new series about fundamental beers. Tks Martin and cheers from brazill.

I could use a porter right now! Looked like a great one. Cheers!
I love Denny's Favourite for Imperial Stouts, I don't think it hit's double digit ABV but at around 9% it really amplifies the malt body :-)
Denny is my Home brewing hero, huge fan! But I'm saddened by the lack of ukulele in this video! 😉
There's really no need to do that to people!

Have you ever tried to brew a very low ABV (under 3%) beer that still taste like craft beer?
I've made a few tasty 3% beers bit nothing lower than that...
@@TheHomebrewChallenge I will be attempting to brew a low abv Hefe this week. Hopefully it doesn't turn out too thin. Thanks for the reply.

What a fun video!
your crushing it
What about that soured Guinness recipe, mate?
Is Nick danger Porter recipe in one of Denny’s books? If so, which one?
Is there any strong caramel / roast to it? I am not a fan of either.
Looks like they spelt favourite wrong (Greetings from the UK)
Anyone else trying to search up Wii homebrew or it is just me?
