Been brewing for 30 years I have plastic fermenter buckets a 3 gal. pot and I use a couple of gallons of chilled tap water to cool down. I have never had a skunk beer. I wish I could afford all that equipment. To me that's not home brewing. I brewed a Blue Moon copy last year that everybody liked better than real Blue Moon. I don't get all the equipment to make good beer.
Very cool! I’ve only been brewing for about 11 years but definitely have used a similar setup as you. The fancy gear just makes brewing easier and helps control the process a little better but you can certainly make good beer with very simple systems
Hey there, I’m sorry I’m not sure what cap you are referring to. My air lock is a silicone tube connected to my blow-off cane and that is submerged in a cup of sanitizer
I've noticed you don't decant your starters. Do you feel that it's not necessary? Love the quality of the videos and your system is insane. Looking forward to more videos!
Thank you! I typically will not decant unless I'm doing a light beer like a helles or pils. It does make a very small difference, but you really won't notice much with most beer styles.
The good news is you can use many different types of equipment. I have some videos on my channel that show how to brew with basic gear if you’re interested 🙌
A bottle of that is like nothing to anyone who does alcohol reasonably often and i don't mean blackout drunk lel. It's just not very strong for most people.
There’s no brown malt in this one but you can definitely add some if you prefer. I’d recommend reducing the Munich, Chocolate, and Pale Chocolate a bit if you add any
Gotta start somewhere! You don’t need much to brew.. all the fancy gear just makes it simpler and more efficient. I’m going to post a beginner video on my channel soon and will show how to use basic gear to brew
@@crucified1969 yea it can be a little tricky at first, but you just gotta start. You’ll learn so much by doing, then with a little education you’ll be brewing great beer in no time
@@ryanmichaelcarter - if you really want to brew a porter you need to brew two beers and blend them in the glass. - I don’t think I can post a link but there’s a BBC archive of the ‘end of porter’ from 1973.

love it. new sub! first video..
Thanks so much! Cheers 🙌🍻
Ryan, didn’t understand, sorry!
Do you use only one temperature pause? at 69C?
No 63 pause and 72, 78
Can you please answer🙏🏻
Yes, just one mash temp for this beer. I do a mash-out step for 10 mins at the end (170F/77C), but that is all
Hey Ryan - do you mind sharing a link for the air lock cap you use for your Ss Brewtech fermentors?

what foam agent do you use to reduce the foam in the boiling?
I typically use Foam Axe but they’re all pretty much the same
Good video, but who has this industrial equipment at home??? I can't make it! :(

Whats the flow meter for the oxygen? I got the brass part but I need to measure
Hey Jim, here’s the rotameter I use: amzn.to/3gPFxQ8
What is your crush setting on SS grain mill?
I use +2
Love a porter, but when did 4.2% abv become low alcohol? 🤣
A looooooong time ago 😂

You must have brown malt for the style
There’s no brown malt in this one but you can definitely add some if you prefer. I’d recommend reducing the Munich, Chocolate, and Pale Chocolate a bit if you add any
Bro i have a keg i can open and close. That's my equipment. Man i have no clue where to start

@@ryanmichaelcarter Sounds good brother. Been trying to get into it but hard to find the time to get over the initial learning curve

"easy that you can make at home" oops i lost my hydrometer
Waaaay too much chocolate malt. Add toasted malt and melanoidin, and reduce the chocolate by A LOT!
Definitely an option 🙌🍻
