  • Shortly after the release of their first album, the brother and sister team of The Carpenters arrived in Toronto for a performance at the O'Keefe Centre. They were interviewed by CKFM's Fred Napoli. This is the 2nd part of that broadcast.

I was 26 yrs old & just starting my new life when I left my home state for Texas. I remember the day she passed & I was very sad. I loved the Carpenters then & still listen to them. I miss you Karen. You had your whole life ahead of you. I wish the experts & Doctors knew more back then to help you.

Karen just sounds so much like "us" non superstars, so down to earth, so real and I swear listening to her talk makes me smile just like when she's singing. Her voice just does that to you.

I like how they explained how they made live performance sound as much the same as the recorded version.

You can hear how passionate they were about music,..especially what they could do with overdubbing their vocals. They don't get the credit that their due, (outside of their fans).

You can surmise the hectic concert schedule they had even from the beginning!

It is clear these fine folks made music their number one priority. Thus we all were given a dozen or so truly classic pop moments that will never leave us. A sidenote: I find it interesting that so many TH-cam clips related to them have comment sections that have been disabled. I wonder if this is because there were too many comments? Someone once suggested it was because of the endless comments from people of the various fan clubs or original message boards going back and forth about who knows more.

      I’ve wondered about that too.

There's also a lot of nonsense about how horrible Karen's family was and they were responsible for her depression, sickness, death ... etc etc

@@facedownchuck I know it has been a while on this post but most of the ones that disabled comments on the video posts disabled the comments usually because of bickering back and forth between people and the stuff that was being bickered about wasn't even related to the video content. You can still see that kind of stuff here and there under some videos and some of that stuff would get really nasty too.
