Never payed attention to this song and thought you were having one of those hallucinations people seem to have with this game. Guess I was wrong. Hearing a sadder version play in such a place later in the game, really adds to the despair and motivation of the level.
that or he was running out of time so he had to re-use a part of another theme to finish it.
+That Guy In The Corner (f.k.a. christoferkk) He mentioned that Seashore War was his favorite piece to compose EVER, so I don't think it was him running outta time.
+heyitsjosh Apparently David Wise originally composed Seashore War for a savanna stage. That could be the reason why this song shares a bit of its melody.
I used to watch Gamespot's E3 video of this level constantly, just to hear a part of this music in shitty quality. Now I finally have something better, thank you so much. :)

David Wise still has it, that's for sure. With todays technology it is skills are amplified 10 fold. It's scary how great of a composer he really is. What makes this soundtrack so great is how much variety their is yet every bit of it is a good as the last. Their is even some great heavy metal music used in some of the boss fight, and I hate usually hate that kind of music.
the soundtrack of this game is fucking insane. not only is the music fantastic video game music, it's just fantastic music in general. I adore how weird and experimental it gets, I adore the use of the instruments, its just. agh
like 90% of metal sounds like shit and I'm a huge metal fan lol. You speak true about David Wise's K.I.S.S. composure.

One of the things I loved about this level was when the penguins would try to attack you with their fish arrows as you were blasting on the barrels on the side of the screen, such beauty.

That flute might be my favorite instrument in this game. So well used in other tracks too.
Took me a while to warm up to it, to be sure, but now I really appreciate how organic and natural it feels-perfect for the wilderness feel of the DKC environments.

Not really, that flute sounds screechy and irritating as fuck. The rest of the theme is good except for those flute parts.

It really was. Absolutely stunning visually, my only problem with it was that it felt a little too short.

No, it isn’t. It’s its own original tune for this game. It sounds similar to other games because it’s the same composer, nothing more. If it’s a “remix” of anything, it’s the same B section from Seashore War, a later level in this game.
Is it just me, or is the entire Tropical Freeze Soundtrack filled with Easter Eggs and winks to the old DKC OST and even other stuff from Nintendo?
1:37 There was just something so beautiful about seeing the brambles slowly twist and turn around the stage as this part of the song came on.

It's a pretty crummy name, though. Well, it's not bad, but some of the other track titles in the sound test are either ripped straight from the levels they play in, or have boring or nonsensical names.
I mean, the music labelled "Funky Waters" doesn't sound particularly funky. It sounds more downtempo, electronic, trip hop-y...or something. I don't really know, I just grabbed a bunch of genres on Moby's Wikipedia page, because that music track reminds me of Moby's music.
Don't forget that "Tree Top Rock" from DKC wasn't really rock music! Well, at least I don't think it qualifies as rock because it has no electric guitar; maybe it just sounds rock because of the time signature. I might be missing something here, so please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyway, DK tunes tend to have titles which are irrelevant to their genre, but maybe that's a trend in the series that has nothing more than comedic purpose.

David Wise went in on this soundtrack, this actually sounds like videogame music when compared to games nowadays. He brings in a soundtrack to escape into this world.

This lvl was great! Going into the big stronghold the snowmads had built seeing them marching around on the wall shooting arrows and u just get to wreck the place in barrels!

Some songs in this game had influences from DKC3 GBA it seems. Not thats a bad thing, overall that was a great soundtrack. Makes me wish I could get them uncompressed.

Yeah, the song is great, but I still can't believe this level even EXISTED in first place! The cannons were so sudden, and the way they were shooting...! I love that level
The song is good, but the luster starts to wear off when you hear the same darn song for three levels in a row if you're a completionist like me.
It's one of the only music tracks, though, that played in a few levels similarly to the classic games.

Gradient Speaking of that, one of the more annoying perpetrators of playing in multiple levels is "Aquatic Ambiance Returns". I like Aquatic Ambiance, but I would've liked to have heard original tracks playing more often.

I think the only problem with almost every level having its own theme is that a few songs become over shadowed or left out in your mind. Maybe the reason everyone remembers and loved the original DKC music was because each level track usually played in about three different levels.

My story with this is funny. I bought the game but haven't played it yet. However, I heard this song playing in a Nintendo Direct so I searched for the level. It turned out to be Bramble Scramble but that actually wasn't the first level you could hear this theme in. Desperate to find this, I went piplupwater's entire playlist to find the song. Ironically, the one video where I couldn't imagine this playing in, Cannon Canyon, was actually the one level it. It was also the last video I checked too. XP

For a world 3 and non K level, rickety rafters (which also has the same music as cannon canyon) was quite tricky! The difficulty of this game is frustrating sometimes but also sometimes enjoyable.
[Query] The horn sound at the beginning: I heard this sample over 15 years ago in a Zelda fanmusic in which a woman sings as the princess. It had to be Twilight Princess themed. I had forgotten this music until I heard this sample again.
