    Nice trip! I absolutely love Tog! For me, tastiest fish ever. A little wine, butter and lemon for pan fried fillets. Yum!

    Yes I fished by the same motto usually the bigger fish are always better breeders and I never keep fish that are abnormally large I usually take a photo and throw it back and I tend to see fish taste better at a decent sized not way too big the meat texture tends to change that's what I've experienced but I'm from Southern California and a lot of people that fish the peers and Jetties here keep everything they catch does it matter what it is which is kind of crazy I believe we need way more fishing game here in Southern California to stop that style of fishing just keep everything you catch crazy man

    I love the bib and slicker set, I bought it early in the season and have used it throughout and they’ve held up amazing. I’ve stayed dried and warm in the worst conditions on my kayak or on boats. Definitely worth the buy

    What’s up skinner. Just picked up a few diff versions of your rods from j&H i absolutely love them, they perform like no other rods. I fish south shore li , I cut the greenies in half , cut the claws and legs off on a jig very rarely I will keep the legs on. Tight lines skinner!

    Hey John! Nice day of black fishing. Small to medium crabs fished with legs and claws removed and shell cracked. Larger crabs cut in half with legs and claws removed. Too many other customers in my area. The ML jig and bounce spinning rod has seen lots of action this season. Thanks

    Mix it up with crabs. Sometimes whole and just crack the shell a little bit just to let the juices out. sometimes cut in half. sometimes cut the legs off, because little blackfish peck at them. Most of the time whole crab and crack the top shell.

      This one for conventional: bit.ly/3QsR6ch, This one for spin: bit.ly/3vArSAh. The rod in this video is too light to be a do-it-all.

    John, nice video..... my question is why don't you throw the legs in the water after cutting them off.

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  หลายเดือนก่อน

      Because they sink very slowly and by the time they hit the bottom they are well down-current of the boat, so it's like I'm chumming pretty far from where I'm fishing. Good question.

    Another great informative video. You know John, I never see your leader line going through your guides with the use of an FG knot or some other knot....appears that you almost always use a heavy-duty barrel swivel to attach a short leader. Am I correct 🤔

    I purchased your moderate rod but have yet been able to use it. Black fishing out of captree under the bridge the current moves. Have to use a 10-14oz sinker to hold. Would this rod still be effective blackfishing with those sinkers?

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Not this rod, but the casting one (bit.ly/3QsR6ch). That's really a lot of weight. What line are you using?

    Hey John! Another great video that answered most of my questions but i have one left. What to do with left over crabs? What are your feelings/success with frozen green crabs, do they work well? Are they better used for chum to help build the bite? Ive always wondered since i usually have green crabs leftover and would love it if they were still useful if frozen still fresh. Thanks again, tight lines!

    Nice work, a sonar question, Simrad 12” navionics, I have no problem finding the wrecks that are on the chart, rock piles, I’m not seeing, their either not there, not accurately marked, covered by sand, or I’m doing something wrong ? It’s frustrating because I’m fishing the same areas as you, advice from anyone is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • @FishNassau
    @FishNassau หลายเดือนก่อน

    John I see you have the spot lock motor in the front by your legs. Is that in place of the pedals (i.e., the pedals are not on kayak)? Also, does the spot lock motor work to get you from place to place, or spot lock only? I’m a relative beginner looking to get into kayak fishing next season.

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  หลายเดือนก่อน

      It's this kayak, which uses the motor for propulsion and anchoring: amzn.to/3WfxA7h

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing

  • @tonynicoletti8161
    @tonynicoletti8161 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I fish them whole, no legs, top shell peeled. Big bait,big fish(allegedly). No legs, so it's harder for these little shits to strip you clean and no top shell, so it's a softer bait, and the hook has less to get hung up on. Also, I never understood why anyone pre cuts crabs. They lose most of the juice and guts before they hit the water and whatevers left gets washed out on the drop.

    • @JohnSkinnerFishing
      @JohnSkinnerFishing  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Great input. Thanks. Some of the crabs are too big to drop whole on a light jig, so I always cut those.

    A half crab, no legs and hooked through and out a leg socket; the shell is so likely to just pop off.
