    Great video! I've spent an hour looking at other videos trying to figure out what you showed so clearly.

      Glad it helped! these are hard/boring topics to cover and I can see why people don't like producing these types of videos.

      Appreciate that, gotta drop videos when I can because the lens comparisons are waiting to be made, and take a lot of time to make.

    Thanks for your video guide. Quick follow up question: On the A7IV, could you get a V90 card and put it into slot 1 for fast shooting and all video modes and put a V60 card into slot 2 for using just as a backup card?

    • @CharlieVN
      @CharlieVN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      yes but it’ll slow down to the second card speed I think. I have CFE-A and v60 combo, currently not even using backups, just rollover

    Was literally just looking for a second SD card for my A7iv today lol. I have a 128gb v90 card but want a second for photos, and am trying to decide if a 256gb v60 card is good enough, just in case I want to save video to it if my v90 card runs out.

    Hi, please, could you tell me if I could to get good wideo with this card (with its limitations) at 4K 50p and Sony A7 IV? I have so many of them: Sony SDXC I 3 10 95MB/s I thank you.

    • @CharlieVN
      @CharlieVN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      definitely, the "micro sd" I featured on the video was 3 10 and slower than 95MB/s. you can do 4K60 200M with that card****** however, no guarantees on how long it runs because it's not a proper v30 card. from my experience with slower 100M bitrates, you can basically go forever until the card fills. you need to go all the way up to v90 cards for the next level of video, the XAVC-S-I format, no middle ground, either cheap or expensive. 4K anything @ 200M is glorious IMO, the A7iv is so freaking clear with so much grading ability.

    like all your videos...informative and amusing...bought the cfexpress card used on eBay for a "decent price." the best thing i can say about it is that the download speeds to my ipadpro 2021 (my editing device) are faster than i imagined. i can download multiple gb size files in a matter of seconds. worth the money to me just for the convenience.

    Lossless Compressed plays better with the buffer for some strange reason. You should try that.

    • @CharlieVN
      @CharlieVN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      it's a slower framerate, so it replenishes faster

  • @JoATTech
    @JoATTech 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Weird ... Lossless Compressed never depleted the buffer on UHS-II V90 while lossy did :o. Is that a mistake or some weird cork?

    • @CharlieVN
      @CharlieVN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      shooting speed slows down just enough not to fill, sounds about right

    Any comment on how quickly the processing clears after short photo bursts with the different cards (that blocks you from going into the menu and changing settings, starting a video recording, etc.)? That's the constant problem for me (using V60 UHS-II cards) - I fire 3-10 photo burst and want to quickly flip a setting or start a video clip, but have to wait........

    • @CharlieVN
      @CharlieVN  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      can’t record video while the buffer is clearing, not nearly as big as a problem as the 7iii due to the smaller buffer that clears faster regardless of card. menu access is not a problem like before.

    Thank for video) Tell me pls Lexar V90 or Transcend v90 better to take if there is nothing else?

    • @CharlieVN

      lean towards transcend, have both cards, had transcend for longer, never failed.

  • @Donbros

    I like that though one reminds normal camera cards so I would only buy that one. Also those sd card are too delicate hate it (though compatability is nice factor but also they aren't that compatible either)

    Great video. I would love to have seen how the highest quality jpg setting would have worked by itself without raw. I only use compressed raw as backup because the jpgs are so good in the A7iv. I rarely use raw anymore.

    • @CharlieVN
      @CharlieVN  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      if you're talking JPEG fine 33mp by itself, it behaves like the V90 test on the slowest card I have.

    your videos are interesting because they the couple i watch say the opposite of what everyone else says. like this video you say the a7iii has superior buffer, and every single other thing i have seen says the opposite. the video comparing sigma zoom to tamron zoom, you made tamron look massively superior, where everyone else seems to think the sigma is.
    so its interesting!

    Great review 👍 I wander what will happen if in S1 you put V90, in S2 you put V30, then configure S2 to be the back up card (everything in S1 copy to S2 as backup) and then you shoot S&Q all-i 4k 60 ? Does the S2 card can keep up with the bitrate and effectively can do backup

    Useful vid. I took advantage of the Sony's (ahemm...) 'offer' of their half-price cfexpress A card with my A7IV. [Or, rather, Sony took advantage of me...]
    It did prove its usefulness for me yesterday, shooting confetti scenes, and 'whole wedding party group' scenes - where you want to find the single shot with everyone looking at the camera, not blinking, not gawping etc...
    It was great knowing I didn't have to worry about buffer at all, and be ready for the next shot without waiting for the system to clear.

      lmao, I feel ya. I think I'm good with v60/v90. out of all the newest cameras, the A7iv seemed to need it the most. A1/A7siii, you can really throw in anything and be fine for photos because of their massive buffers. For video, you have to be up to spec, and v60 does even 8K
