Timestamps for stations: 0:00 Chatswood 3:30 Crows Nest 6:10 Victoria Cross 9:35 Barangaroo 12:20 Martin Place 14:25 Gadigal 16:47 Central 19:25 Waterloo 23:30 Sydenham
Very good capture from the driverless seat. Two things I experienced between Crows Nest and Central recently that are not evident here. The ride is a bumpy one compared to the intercity I caught at Central to south. The noise from wheel flanges is very bad especially when approaching curvatures at Martin Place...so much so that the onboard announcement could not be heard. What is evident here is the view of the gradient after Victoria Cross to go under the Harbour and then back up to Barangaroo. Inside train is also noisy probably because the internal sound travels easier due to the longitudinal seating. Well done.
Wow, that’s amazing, Matt! I also filmed my entire journey from Chatswood to Sydenham. Technically, I had to get off at Barangaroo to meet Jeremiah and Sharath.
Hi Matt. If those cross tunnels with the barriers at the end have the same spacing, and you can find that out, you should be able to use a stopwatch (or phone timer 😁) to work out the speed. BTW Nice video, Cheers from CHristchurch, NZ.
Also found on line "SpeedClock uses the camera to detect and analyze motion, and a reference distance to calculate the speed of an object." for iPhone. Not sure if it would work...
i took it the other day. it is fast and does the job. still a bit rough ride for a brand new line but plenty of handles for people to hold on. the urban design for the stations is impressive and sets the benchmarks for other projects. you compare this to the epping to chatswood underground, very bland, all look the same and quite eerie in fact when you're inside.
Hey man! I saw you at Sydenham when I’d finally gotten to ride the metro line myself, I was way too anxious to say hi or anything, but I’m curious. I think I’d heard you talking about a metro related event on the 22nd or 24th?
Thanks for coming to the opening day! There’s a “Family Day Out” event this Saturday for anyone who couldn’t attend today. And that might act as the offical opening of the line instead of a soft like opening today.
Congratulations Gladys. Job well done! 🥰 Hope this leads to the redevelopment of Sydenham and Waterloo. They are a dump at the moment, but could be home to many, very handy to the city, west and south.
lol. Maybe that's because he was filming out the front window and didn't get off the train. Not easy to see the station names that position, but if you look carefully you can see them. And you were too lazy to notice the location names on the video progress bar. And also in the pinned comment.

The wall lighting inside tunnel is also spaced at regular intervals so it could be used for distancing.
Great vid, Should have woken up but didn’t bother lol but I have went in the afternoon.
Absolutely awesome.
Wow!Great one Matthew!Ill be there on 4th September for my Anniversary!Sorry i couldnt make it on the first day.

@@AheadMatthewawsome oo that’s delightful as hell!! I might see if I can join in, but I doubt it haha, I hope people who go enjoy it
Nice video
very HK MTR-esque especially with the underground stations
No wonder because they are in a joint venture to operate the trains
judging by that Sydenham pronunciation the metro station DVA’s are definitely text to speech
Yes it's a Google voice Australian Karen
iirc the in car train announcements used to have text to speech as well
@@sget7093 then why didn’t tfNSW get taylor owynns to do the station DVA’s as well
Why are there such long delays at stations? Much longer than the trains
Is there any need for lights? Seems a waste of leccy to me.
Congratulations Gladys. Job well done! 🥰

Gladys only continued what was set in place by Barry O'Farrell. They decided to sell off the state electricity assets to fund it..
alstom metropolis?
Yes.
I started to watch this and you didn’t show the station sign names. So I turned this off.

Do you know what to do if your train comes to a stop in there and water starts gushing in. You drop your pants and kiss your butt goodbye.
