It will indeed. Hunter street station on the metro west will have a direct underground link to Martin place station here and also Wynyard as well. When it opens the Martin place - Hunter street - Wynyard precinct will form a mega underground interchange.

Hey stop complaing about the comfort of the Metro ride. whoever they are. I've been on it and it can be a little rough in some sections but it's more comfortable then riding some of the Sydney trains even the intercity and XPTs.
Right? I dont get it. It's like these people have never actually gone on a Train or Metro in NSW. Most train rides are a traumatic experience with all the shaking and screeching that happens (on top of how unreliable they are) Metro is smooth as compared to your average Sydney train ride.

The ECRL was meant to be above ground but people complained that it would go through lane cove national park and because of the gradient required for the tunnel for double deckers they could no longer build a station there and the route was longer (that's why the tunnel is curved between north Ryde and Chatswood rather than a more straight path) They binned it because that's what the people (the ones with the loudest voices) wanted.
Apart from the fact that passenger comfort is of no concern to the designers, and that for most of the way there's nothing to see ouside, they're pretty good.
