    I love that they have prepared for the integration of the Hunter Street Metro Station. It should be a massive transport hub by 2032 with three lines converging. I imagine Hunter Street Station will connect with both Martin Place and Wynyard.

    • @mark123655
      @mark123655 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      No paid connection to Wynyard. You'll exit the gate line near George St then into the old Hunter Connection pathway under George St to Wynyard.

      @mark123655 yes that's right.

      Hi @markleon, Yes, it will become a massive transport hub in 2032. Yes Hunter Street Station will have an underground connection to Wynyard (via the old Hunter Connection tunnel under George Street) and also to Martin Place. You can learn more about this in my Hunter Street Station Explained video th-cam.com/video/5g-ZsHmZVuM/w-d-xo.htmlsi=wdM18da7EvkIkJ5f

      The Hunter Connection will appear to be quite inadequate and narrow by comparison with the impressive proportions of the new developments to which it will connect without considerable updating and ideally , widening .

      I also like the planned direct linking of the two MERO lines and the link with the Heavy Rail Martin Place station. Your videos are first rate. I TRY and make some reasonable videos, and it is nice to get some positive comments by those who view my videos. We both have viewers who live a long way from the transport systems covered but it is nice to reach those people. .

    Academy Award deserving production Paul. My sympathies for the heavy cold. Stay warm, rested and hydrated. On Wednesday of this week, I had a look around Central. Mind blowing achievement. However, I can see that the Martin Place Metro will become a very busy hub by connecting the T with the M services. I like the idea of providing an ablutions facility for transiting workers and tourists. My constant concern is the prevention of inane or any type of graffiti. Thanks very much for Paul et al. Get well!

    This was my first Sydney Metro open day - and I loved it! So I can't quite compare to other stations in person... but I'm still inclined to think this is one of the most impressive stations in the network. I was blown away by how spacious the platform level was, and how ingeniously they managed to build the link to Martin Place platforms 1 & 2.
    (I also learned for the first time from this video how and where the link to the future Hunter Street will happen - quite exciting to look forward to that!)
    I agree with the comments about the openness of the north entrance contributing to a strong sense of wayfinding. By contrast, the southern entrance felt harder to orient myself, as it was less open. I'm sure that will change with familiarity after the station opens.
    Overall, this station is simply a marvel of engineering and construction, having to thread multiple needles among existing infrastructure. It's going to knock people for six when everyone starts using it!

    • @TransportVlog
      @TransportVlog  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Glad you enjoyed your first Sydney Metro open day! It's certainly the largest, so that adds to its impressiveness! Yes I was glad to be able to include the location of the Hunter Street Station link. Yes, the southern entrance is less open, and that's mainly because the concourse is over Martin Place, so they couldn't have such an open design. Yes, its going to have a big wow factor when it opens for sure!

      Hi Mark, Thanks and I couldn't have done it without them! As I'm away in the UK until mid June, I've decided not to do a video on Crows Nest until the station opens. By the time it would be edited and produced (accounting for some jet-lag) , it would be early July, and that's probably just a few weeks before opening. Crows Nest and Gadigal Stations will be the first two that I'll do once the line opens, and then I'll revisit some of the others.

    The Jubilee Line Extension was actually my first experience with platform screen doors back when I visited in June 2019. The Sydney Metro had already opened but I hadn't had the chance to use it yet despite living in Epping. So when I did get to use it, I felt like I was in London again.

    Thanks for another great and informative video. Hope you are feeling better. Would you kindly please do a detailed video on the complete chronological timeline from inception of the entire Sydney transport infrastructure project right up to the far future end date for the entirety of the Sydney and greater Sydney transport mega project. I heard you mention 2032 for completion of the Hunter connection side and it demonstrated the temporal enormity of the Governments undertaking. I hear the Melbourne loop has an end date of 2083. An infographic and real time portrayals for Sydney would be fascinating, and an historical keepsake for future generations. Maybe do it as a multi part series of videos. Would you also please do a video covering the mega train and vehicular tunnel project propsed to run under The Blue Mountains. I look forward to your wonderful and relaxing narrations.

    Hi Paul, I always thought it was a missed opportunity to not add an additional stop between Chatswood and Crows Nest to improve overall connectivity. Lane Cove would be the clear winner for a stop in my mind and it wouldn’t add much additional time. What are your thoughts?

    • @TransportVlog
      @TransportVlog  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I had a quick look on the map, and serving Lane Cove would have required a significant de-tour and some reasonably sharp curves, especially after Lane Cove, to get back to the alignment for Crows Nest. I do agree that Lane Cove would benefit immensely from a metro or train station though.

    I think rather than to call it martin place/hunter st and wynard stations, they should change all 3 stations to sydney central north and probs keep platform 1-2 for eastern suburbs and south coast/illwarra (T4) , 3-4 for north shore and western line (T1/7), 5-6 for city circle line (T2/3/8), 7-8 for the metro northwest/southwest (M1) and 9-10 for west and potential east metro (M3?). I think its close enough to call it 1 station rather than scattered few stations.
    Then rename central to sydney central south.

      If the sydney metro is genuinely to become a metro, ( a train service that can be reached by most people using it by walking ) , we need to become used to stations within a few minutes walk of each other . This is all that is happening here.

      Hi @francesconicoletti2547, yes that's right. Perhaps calling it one station v several different ones, might be a topic for a future video!

    Kind of a pity those of use using Martin Place station V1 lost 4 exists and had to deal with the bottleneck between Castlereagh and Elizabeth Sts for almost 5 years. Someone brain farted those ideas out so well

    You might think wow Australia is rich. But actually they had to sell the electricity network to pay for this.

      I think that was to pay for Sydney Metro North West. I do remember this at the time.

    Great station but it’s pretty warped that Macquarie can give an unsolicited proposal to demolish people homes at 9 Elizabeth st, then they get to profit from the new building, and everyone thinks it’s ok.

      The original Metro proposal involved the demolition of a number of commercial and residential buildings. Macquarie's Proposal involved the demolition of an additional office block, and I think this office block was owned by Macquarie, so no homes were affected by their proposal.
