  • Seba brand, mostly associated with freestyle slalom and freeride skates, tried to change their portfolio to a broader one circa year 2013. While this ambition of becoming an inline skating powerhouse in all areas has not been realized, the result of company taking a step in this direction were several interesting skates.
One of them is Seba CJ, an aggressive skate made in association with Australian skater CJ Wellsmore. CJ is undoubtedly one of the most talented aggressive skaters on the planet, however he always had it a bit uphill because of the country he lives in (and we are not talking about lethal, venomous spiders and snakes over there) - Australia is separated from the rest of the rolling world, most importantly from the US, a birthplace of aggressive skating, and Europe, where the community around this sport is thriving these days. Thus, CJ had to wait for far too long for his signature skate. Finally, he struck a deal with Seba, resulting in Seba CJ skates, now coming in three varieties.
Seba CJ 2 Prime, the newest addition to the line-up, are based around earlier CJ2 skate, but drastically different in some ways. The integrated padding is gone - it was replaced by high quality Prime liner. No one tries to hide the fact that it was inspired by famous Intuition liners. Some may scratch their heads trying to understand the reason behind reworking a boot with integrated padding in to one with liner, yes. However, the practice of modding the CJ skates to accept liners has been popularized by Canadian skaters and became so widespread that it only made sense to offer this as stock option. As the shell was designed with integrated padding in mind and was already pretty slim, using a liner in the skate gives even tighter fit.
While CJ Carbon are made, as name suggests, with carbon fibre shell, CJ 2 and Prime variants both use a composite material equivalent. As a result, skate is a bit heavier than its more high end counterpart, but also a bit more flexible. This makes the skate feeling less rigid out of the box and will appeal to skaters who prefer a bit more ankle freedom as well as skates that bend more on tricks. It’s worth to note that while CJ 2 and CJ 2 Prime are still a nice boot for custom setups with big wheels, they won’t offer the same level of energy transfer efficiency as carbon made ones. If you are after a boot to attach your Wizard frames to - CJ Carbon are still the top choice. On the plus side - composite shell means that skate costs less overall.
The outer skin material have decent level of rigidity and is pretty resistant to damage. There are additional reinforcements, too - a rubber material strip protecting the toe area and replaceable slider on the outer side of the skate. The padding of the liner is comfortable, anatomically shaped and helps to secure the foot in place, providing a snug fit. As these are aggressive skates, their toe box is wide to prevent toes injuries. Underneath the foot resides a comfortable insole and shock-absorber.
You can lace the boot to the very top and this does a great job at keeping your foot in place. To eliminate the heel lift completely, skate comes with a 45 degree Velcro strap. The composite cuff closed with a buckle stabilizes the ankle without limiting front to back movement range. The liner itself can also be laced at the top.
The soulplates are made out of fast sliding material and are the same width for the whole length of the skate - which is important for many users and makes it easier to lock on a grind. Backslide groove is shallow but well shaped and will work perfect until you’ll work in the deeper groove on tricks. The boot is UFS compatible.
CJ 2 Prime come as boot only skates - you need to get frames, wheels and bearings separately.

I have these SEBA skates, definitely a quality skate all around. Comfortable, durable, great performance. I believe it says Integrated liner because they have several iterations of integrated liner models that were out years beforehand so they must have used the same description text from the integrated model description.
As for the liners they are made by Foryos, it’s basically cheaper Intuition style of liner made in China. It works well for a stock liner. Real Intuitions in these boots would be an ideal set up

I don't understand why more people don't skate SEBA and also why CJ isn't in more GOAT convos. I have to assume it's because the American market isn't giving the love or the marketing is just poor since the split up with FR? I have the SX2s and I cannot destroy them and I skate a minimum of 2 hours a week, mixed use aggressive and big wheel - they're durable. The laces are garbage, buckle on them wasn't great (replaced them on each skate), toe cap gets scuffed easily, but they feel really nice to skate. If the soul plate was integrated a little better they'd ride nicer. they actually feel better when I ride them without the soulplate. These look like they've upgraded all the things I didn't love about the SX2 skate, which were the plastic version of CJs previous skate. CJ has a video on his channel talking about how he wanted the intuition liner feel in the skates when these were released. not a coincidence.

I remember being on the US USD tour in Europe as a teenager A guest appearance via the roces guys. Jaren was there. he did a really sick topsole to alleyoop soul on a rail to drop off. I think that was in Lausanne. Great video! I have been using your content to catch up where I left off 20 years ago. It’s amazing how Lidl has changed a.k.a. the absolute hammer videos are still the absolute hammer videos.

CJ came to Croatia to Panonnian Challenge this year (for the 1st time) and he was a madman, flying all over the place, making impossible transfers in our big bmx oriented skatepark. Guy is a beast, won 2nd place, Joe Atkinson was 1st.

Ooh glad you're gonna get to try the whole setup I was thinking you were gonna use your cults or something for the Wizards.
I got my first ever Seba CJ a couple months ago (the integrated liner version) and they're pretty good. The toe cap protection isn't as strong as other soft boots I've used like the USD Carbon, but I'm sure they'll last me years. It's cool being able to skate them without the soul plates for sure. Enjoy!

what a coincidence. I literally unboxed mine an hour ago & just signed on to TH-cam to watch some CJ2 Prime content & here you are. They sell them Linerless which is what I opted for & was starting to think maybe I should've spent the extra $80-85 for the liners because I've tried MyFit PRIME, 2nd Skins & Skinny Boys & none of them feel ideal. I'm thinking I may have to bite the bullet & spring for some Intuitions.

I skate this boot for a year and really like them
They were a bit stiff at first but after a few sessions it's ok
I got to much heel lift whit the original liner so I switched to myfit Eisler and it was perfect
The original soul was much to long for my taste so I used carbon plates that I had laying around and it works perfectly as well
Conclusion: it's a comfortable and very solid boot and easy to customize 👍

I have removed the clued in shock absorber as it causes heel lift for me and makes the skates to fit me better. Overall they are pretty tight fitting skates - volume wise, even without having 'downsizing' in mind.

I have these in my collection, put the usd carbon soulplate on it and it was great. The buckle protection is straight garbage, broke my cuff after a month of skating. Mostly use them for big wheel skating now with the original soulplate.

The skates look great, and I've never tried Seba brand at all. I just can't get into the whole 'wizard' aspect of skating. It just looks like riding skis on cement to me, and I'm blind to the appeal.

this is the quandry: Seba have a reputation for copying everyone else's designs and ideas. Soooooo ... that's bad. BUT ... when they do it so well, you kinda get caught wondering why you shouldn't give them a try. I don't like to reward copy-cats but then again, if the product is essentially just an evolution that's better than the rest ...
