Hot Rod is a great Character. I think he's a great foil to the typical Autobot command. Alongside Kup, they represent two generations working together to reform the values of stagnant and complacent Autobots. Rodimus is representative of a Hot Rod that has learned as much as possible from Kup.
I totally agree! I also love Magnus in the mix. On the surface, Magnus is the obvious leader; he’s experienced, no-nonsense, intelligent, and powerful. Even Optimus thought he was the obvious choice as his successor. The only issue is, Magnus doesn’t have softness of Optimus. He doesn’t have Prime’s empathy or down-to-earth qualities. Magnus was right when he said he was just soldier, whereas Optimus was so much more. Rodimus may not have the military qualities of Optimus, but he is exceedingly empathetic. He cares do everyone around him, and readily endangers himself to protect others. Whereas Magnus wouldn’t have time for that now, Rodimus would fight off an entire ocean to pull Kup back to shore.
I have this burning theory that Windblade was supposed to take on the mantle of being the new Hotrod. Hasbro gave the character so much lore and development that I feel like they were hinting the possibility of her being the next Prime. From her debut to 2021, toys of the character were all over the place until Hotrod made his come back in Cyberverse with his toys all over the place. Either Hasbro didn't know what to do with the character, or nobody caught on to those "she's the next Prime!" hints
Maybe. I think it was more that Hasbro wanted to make Windblade special since she was the fan-made bot. As time went on, I think they succeeded. Despite an icy reception, Windblade nowadays enjoys a rather high standing in the fandom. I think it’s more the same reason as to why Hasbro moved away from Bumblebee and Megatron in Skybound; they’re wanting to focus on some different bots to keep their roster fresh. I don’t know about “next prime” but I absolutely think they wanted her to be on equal standing to, say, a Bumblebee, and for a little bit she was.

True, true. Takara had a weird obsession with giving everyone a black version. Cliffjumper, Optimus, a lot of guys. Hell, they gave Starscream a black version! It was Skywarp with out his purple gloves, it was weird.
This is true! I don’t really cover characters based on their Japanese names, just because I think a lot of characters have their own legacies now. I wouldn’t include Hot Shot here because he deserves his own video.
In my heart Hot Rod/Rodimus is the true prime after good old Optimus Prime. Though Hot Shot and Bumblebee are good characters I do not think they would ever fit as a prime
I grew up with Hot Shot and Bumblebee both, and I still fully agree with you. They’re stories are much better as young soldiers becoming leaders, whereas Rodimus is the only one who feels right as growing into being THE leader.
Me too. He got a lot of flak for Optimus's death by older kids but I loved him. In retrospect, it was because he was such a focus in the movie which had unreal animation at the time AND he had that banger of a theme song, "Dare". Actually I think it was just dare. If he had a crappy song I dont know if I'd like him as much

Transformers was my favorite toy line and I followed it from the beginning but I don't think I really understood characters and plots that well until the movie. And Optimus definitely felt more like my dad and Rodimus felt more like me. Like I could never imagine being Optimus but I could imagine being hot rod. It's interesting to me why we like things
@@nachonachoman Funnily enough, G1 was well before my time. I was born in 99, Armada and the Bay movies were my introduction to Transformers. There was a 20th anniversary DVD for the movie, and that was my first introduction to G1. I liked Rodimus from that movie because I could relate to him, like how you did. Hot Shot and Bumblebee were my favorites at that point when I was 7, and Rodimus was like them. The difference to me was he changed, he stopped being a kid and became a leader without ever stepping back. Hot Shot went back to being like a kid for Energon and again for Cybertron, and Bumblebee was similar between movies. I don’t think I would have been able to explain it this way when I was kid, but I really think what made me like Rodimus so much was the fact that you saw him grow up over the course of the movie. Another part of it were early interactions online. I remember getting on TH-cam early and seeing a lot of the old guard of the online fandom, these adults who would constantly hate on the Transformers I liked. They hated the movies and Armada, but they would also constantly make fun of Rodimus. I remember as kid feeing a weird sense of defensiveness for Rodimus. I loved him, and I didn’t care if anyone made fun of him or the other stuff I liked. That’s also why in my videos I do my best to always keep things upbeat, because I still remember being a young collector and having all the older fans knocking the people just coming into the fandom. In a weird way, I could honestly say Rodimus was my gateway to understanding what a respectful fandom should look like, and that’s why he still have a special place in my heart.
After much deliberation, I ended up preordering the Tspark Rodimus. An official transforming version of IDW Rodimus has been my dream figure for years. I am so so hyped for it.
IDW Rodimus is always gunna be my Rodimus cuz the early IDW is when my collecting really got serious. The the furi model kit is the best and I hope some one upscale it to MP size someday
I loved how he got paired up with a reforming Megatron. That was wild. Autobot Command: we might actually trust Megatron turning a new leaf over you. Your co-captains now

I've always had a bit of a love/hate relationship when it came to Rod/Rodimus. I've grown to respect him mostly to thanks to how he was written in the IDW comics and I liked the dynamic he had with Bee in Cyberverse. But I want nothing to do with the Hot Rod from The Last Night.
he suffers from the same problems Arcee does. you would think, as one of the most iconic characters you would get pretty consistent characterizations. but you get wildly different version in each media. Even Hotshot was supposed to be hotrod (and is in the japanese versions) but is nothing like him.
I get that. Some writers and characterizations will resonate better than others, and Rodimus is sometimes an all star of a character and otherwise is more like a Rodimus in Name Only.
True, true. Truth be told, I think it’s only within recent memory that everyone outside of Optimus, Megs, Jazz, and Bee have been made more consistent. Even guys like Starscream, Soundwave, and Ratchey used to vary pretty wildly between versions.
These videos are so relaxing I enjoy them I’m also a proud owner of the shattered glass rodimus and it’s so much fun if I needed a transformer figure to help me relax.

(And the Hot Rod from that set is pretty great, too. It's also large enough that if you don't get the Kingdom Commander class Rodimus, PotP Hot Rod can be an excellent stand-in for a mainline scaled Rodimus Prime. 43:17 Favorite Hot Rod: G1 & MP40. G1 is the original, the iconic. The MP28/MP40 mold (despite the ridonkalonkalously wonky torso) takes cues from the MP17 Datsun mold: it's basically the G1 toy with extra steps. Also, shout-out to SS86-4 Hot Rod and shout-out to the Hot Rod from PotP Rodimus. Favorite Rodimus Prime: G1 & Kingdom. G1 is, again, the original and the iconic; the one I had as a kid was given to me from a buddy, so it was woefully INCOMPLETE, but it served as my Hot Rod until I got my first G1 Hot Rod. Kingdom is everything that previous Rodimus Prime specific figures should've been...except for the front end of the vehicle stickin' too far out. Shout-out to PotP Rodimus Prime.
It’s funny how Rodimus Prime specifically has had such a great history of toys. Whereas Hot Rod just kept getting the same molds released over and over, Rodimus stayed consistent. I love the G1 and Kingdom guys just like you do. And yeah, POP Roddy deserves more love.
I wish that the T-Spark IDW Roddy from Takara is masterpiece scale, I was really hoping he’d be generations scale when we first got the pics of him. But I’m happy he’s getting made
i just read hot rod’s intro in idw, so this is so exciting! hot rod is one of my favorite autobots. i’m really excited for when you do wheeljack, ratchet, arcee, and shockwave. THOSE are my favorite transformers

Oh, DX9 did a version called Ancestrod, where he transforms into some sort of weird zoid-looking creature (which is extra funny, considering the recent official Zoids crossover announcement)
The only one I have is Nemesis Hot Rodimus Unicronus. The one I like the most is the Flame Toys model kit. IDW representation and my newfound love of model kits are talking together. The one I really one to get is Cyberverse deluxe. My Maccadam is still incomplete without it.
I think what didn't endear him to people after the movie was giving him a character arc that kinda validated people's feelings about him, that he was unworthy. The constant returning to Hot Rod is because they needed to sell BOTH toys of him, and they couldn't do that if he was just Rodimus. But without that, I'd prefer that he have the doubts for about 1 to 2 episodes THEN spend the rest of the season confident and proving he IS worthy. Because yeah, Hot Rod IS a cool character, and manner of ways aside, he really should get a chance to be A leader, though maybe not THE leader, especially becoming Rodimus. I only saw a few "G2" episodes to count as my experience with G1 before I saw the movie in 2000, and of course, that means Rodimus has stuck in my head since. Kingdom Rodimus, especially my custom MP-40-based maroon-painted one with Energon/Classics crest and a custom made large sword for him IS one of my favorites in my collection. Also, I'm of the camp of he did not get Optimus killed. Optimus was foolish for not trying to shoot at the ground to stop Megatron from moving if he really wasn't going to kill him like Kup was telling him to. The only bad thing he did was try to jump Megatron than shoot him, but he clearly saw what Megs was trying to do that Optimus stupidly didn't.
I can agree with a lot of that. Rodimus had nothing to do with Optimus dying, but people would latch on to anything to be mad over Prime dying. As for Season 3, I chop that up to having so many writers and no unified vision. I think there were a lot of episodes where Rodimus was great, only for them to back step when another writer sent in a scriptx
I like the SS86 Hot Rod a lot but he is deluxe sized which I find a bit cheeky, anyway nice figure glad to have him. I mainly like the Kingdom Rodimus, I did soften his face with some lighter grey paint but for sure would buy a replacement head for him, probably even buy a new version of him if Hasbro even puts one out as a SS86. I think I like the Studio Series TLK Hot Rod figure more than I enjoyed the character in the film, I understand Studio Series figures may get less repaint uses (maybe from licensing costs?) but I for sure would buy this figure again in a G1 colour scheme.
Man, I’d buy so many Studio Series repaints. G1 repaints would be awesome, but I’d also like a lot of the toy repaints from 07. Nightwatch Optimus, Shadow Blade Megatron, Desert Brawl, Evac from Blackout, Cliffjumper from Bee: I’d buy them in a heartbeat.
Amazing vid as always! I, personally, have always loved Hot Rod's design. He looks so cool with those flames on him. However I only have the POTP version of him, which isn't the best. Honestly, the paint on him sucks and his foil stickers keep peeling off. I would really want ss86 Hot Rod though. Hope to see a video on The Many Toys of my boy Ironhide!
Ironhide is still high on my list, we’ll tackle him before too much longer! Also, I do hate those foil stickers. I have no idea why Hasbro thought they were a good idea, they peeled before you even got the toys out of the box.
Triple-changer Rodimus?! A TRANSFORMERS X STREET FIGHTER CROSSOVER?! … you know, that target master version of Masterpiece Rodimus may explain why the KO’s of the original MP figure use the much darker colour scheme. It’s also what I’m aiming to get myself, so now I will be forever miffed it won’t have a target master. Thanks for that.
I think the main feedback I’ve gotten from this episode have been people realizing how many Rodimus Primes they want to buy now and people reacting in horror as they find out what Kiss Players is😂 Maybe you can get the target master by itself on eBay or something! Then you could complete the look.

I wish we saw more of him, he was so great in that scene! Team Athena as a whole was great, half the team were character that were supposed to be in the main cast. Red Alert was replaced by Ratchet, Hot Shot was replaced by Bumblebee, and Bulkhead’s design was similar to Brawn’s.

I have about 70% of the Rodimuses mentioned in this video! I just can't seem to find the old classics one, especially the tiny ones. Top 3 would be Choro Q, Kingdom, and DX9 Carry. Also I think you missed one, Mega SCF Rodimus Convoy (Unless I'm blind).
That’s a really solid 3, I would love to get my hands on the Choro Q guy. I did mention Mega SCF, it was in the middle of all the Heroes of Cybertron guys, but I went over him really quick.
@@Kohiku Choro Q and Q Transformers are lines I so desperately want to get into, but the aftermarket on them is ROUGH. Maybe if I ever stumbled across a few at a convention, at least then I can justify it since I don’t have to worry about shipping.
I never understood the hate for him. Yes, his actions helped (not caused) the death of OP, but The real culprit was Megatron himself, and a small part of the blame should be directed to OP, since he could had shot Megs at any time before HotRod even appeared and didn’t. He also didn’t shoot when Megs was grabbing HR having some openings and not taking them. At the end it wasn’t HR fault that hasbro wanted to kill OP in the first place. The season 3 hate for him because he felt that he was not worthy, maybe was repetitive and handled a bit poorly, but makes sense. HotRod wasn’t an experienced warrior, he was just a rookie that suddenly became the highest position in an instant… of course he needed time and advice My first HotRod was the toysrus masterpiece. I kept it misb for a year or so inside a closet because I was afraid of opening it and breaking. Then I decided to open it up aaaaand, his right arm was broken… I got really really pissed off. I got another one, luckily not very much marked up in price, and it wasn’t broken. But I transformed it like twice and never touched it again scared of it breaking again. That figure makes me anxious and is one of the reasons I’m not very fond of Masterpieces
I totally agree. The way I see it, Optimus was a father to his men, and Hot Rod was just a kid. He thought his dad was about to be gunned down and tried to help. That’s not stupidity or evil, that’s a kid who loves his dad trying to protect him. I also fully understand that the season 3 stuff can get clunky at times, but I love it. After two seasons where Optimus was the perfect leader, it was cool to see an Autobot commander who didn’t have that confidence or wisdom. If handled well, it had all the potential to be an amazing arc.

Damn that was a long video but a good one and for the first time I'm going to talk about the character himself. Hot Rod/Rodimus in the movie and G1 was for me kind of bland, dgmw he's not a bad character by any mean he's the Luke Skywalkher of the film it's just that... he's not appealing to me in G1, however, no, Hot Rod didn't kill Optimus Prime grew up plz (I'm talking about some fanboy not you lol). Other than that I really like Rodimus in IDW but hey it's IDW so they are goated. Toys now I would love to purchase the Animated, Energon and DX9 Carry they look like a lot of fun to play with and for my favorite... I would say SS86 Hot Rod but my copy of the figure broke when I took him out of the box, I'm really unlucky
I hate to hear about your SS86 Hot Rod, when the QC bug hits you there’s nothing worse. I totally get what you mean about G1 Hot Rod in the movie, he reeks of main character. I did like Rodimus in season 3, almost entirely because he’s so miserable as a leader. I love that he’s so worn down and tired, and how he feels like he never measures up, it was interesting as a contrast to Optimus. I just hate how many people hate on Rodimus for no good reason. You have people out here acting like he ruined the franchise, poisoned our crops, and kicked a puppy on the way out.
It will be a little bit before Magnus, but I think I want to make his video in October. I figure him wearing armor is thematic enough for Halloween, right? 😂
@ to be honest, a Lancer sounds really badass, though. And Carry is an awesome figure, its stylized appearance is based on Japanese promotional imagery by a firm called Studio Ox. I really love it, and I’ve not had any knee problems with my mp-09, I had to fix my hasbro masterpiece Rodimus primes shoulder. Hot Rod was my childhood favorite transformer, and all the toy love he gets tells me there’s more fans out there than the (silly) vocal fans would like us to believe, theywho really soured the trajectory of the fiction, probably for all time.
We will eventually! I just need to find a good spot for him. That, and I’m convinced there’s about to be a ThreeZero or Yolopark Bludgeon for some reason, and I just want to see if it happens.
Despite being born in 2000 I grew up with the movie some g1 season 3 characters from my local thrift shop and my best friend had season 3 on dvd so my outrage " they killed Optimus moment " was " they just undid Rodimus" and than I saw rebirth and yah he felt as juvenile as he was as hotrod at the beginning of the movie. My " they brought Optimus back moment" was when Rodimus recharged the matrix and became Rodimus Convoy in japan again...and than Optimus died again which put a very smug smirk on my face. Also stop saying " would of " you make it sound like all of these got cancelled . Did Energon Rodimus kill Optimus " no but he should have" I can honest to God see that version of Rodimus killing Optimus
I also agree with you about feeing worse about Rodimus become Hot Rod again then him getting the matrix. I love Rodimus Prime and the story they told of him growing as a leader. It felt wrong to have him lose all of that.
@ronbondujon9690 look up the song "Son of Man" and tell me it's not Rodimus Also, I related to Rodimus because I spent a good chuck of time trying to cope with my responsibilities because I wasn't prepared to grow up and I had a lot of self-doubt . I still do have self-doubts but I spend less time trying to run from my growth.
I think G1 hot rod was one of the better original car transformers toy. The G1 rodimus toy looked ulgy imo. Was hotrod suppose to be maroon or magenta tho?
It really depended on the episode and where your toy came from. Some G1 Hot Rods and Rodimuses are maroon, some (especially those released in Mexico and the southern US) are more magenta. The cartoon also flipped back and forth.
@@ronbondujon9690i think in the original toy and movie release, Hot Rod is more of a Reddish color while in modern released, he more pinkish (maybe because of the brighter color correction for the movie)

@@scrinkly_kinito He turned into a raptor in Beast Wars, and it’s still the same character! The bio explains that he loved war, so he underwent the process to become a maximal to keep fighting. As for why not a T-Rex, I think it’s just because they didn’t want him possibly stepping on Megatron’s toes.

I think it’s more the same reason as to why Hasbro moved away from Bumblebee and Megatron in Skybound; they’re wanting to focus on some different bots to keep their roster fresh. I don’t know about “next prime” but I absolutely think they wanted her to be on equal standing to, say, a Bumblebee, and for a little bit she was.

True, true. Takara had a weird obsession with giving everyone a black version. Cliffjumper, Optimus, a lot of guys. Hell, they gave Starscream a black version! It was Skywarp with out his purple gloves, it was weird.

This is true! I don’t really cover characters based on their Japanese names, just because I think a lot of characters have their own legacies now. I wouldn’t include Hot Shot here because he deserves his own video.
In my heart Hot Rod/Rodimus is the true prime after good old Optimus Prime. Though Hot Shot and Bumblebee are good characters I do not think they would ever fit as a prime
I grew up with Hot Shot and Bumblebee both, and I still fully agree with you. They’re stories are much better as young soldiers becoming leaders, whereas Rodimus is the only one who feels right as growing into being THE leader.

Me too. He got a lot of flak for Optimus's death by older kids but I loved him.
In retrospect, it was because he was such a focus in the movie which had unreal animation at the time AND he had that banger of a theme song, "Dare".

Transformers was my favorite toy line and I followed it from the beginning but I don't think I really understood characters and plots that well until the movie. And Optimus definitely felt more like my dad and Rodimus felt more like me. Like I could never imagine being Optimus but I could imagine being hot rod. It's interesting to me why we like things
@@nachonachoman Funnily enough, G1 was well before my time. I was born in 99, Armada and the Bay movies were my introduction to Transformers. There was a 20th anniversary DVD for the movie, and that was my first introduction to G1.
I liked Rodimus from that movie because I could relate to him, like how you did. Hot Shot and Bumblebee were my favorites at that point when I was 7, and Rodimus was like them. The difference to me was he changed, he stopped being a kid and became a leader without ever stepping back. Hot Shot went back to being like a kid for Energon and again for Cybertron, and Bumblebee was similar between movies. I don’t think I would have been able to explain it this way when I was kid, but I really think what made me like Rodimus so much was the fact that you saw him grow up over the course of the movie.
Another part of it were early interactions online. I remember getting on TH-cam early and seeing a lot of the old guard of the online fandom, these adults who would constantly hate on the Transformers I liked. They hated the movies and Armada, but they would also constantly make fun of Rodimus.
I remember as kid feeing a weird sense of defensiveness for Rodimus. I loved him, and I didn’t care if anyone made fun of him or the other stuff I liked. That’s also why in my videos I do my best to always keep things upbeat, because I still remember being a young collector and having all the older fans knocking the people just coming into the fandom.
In a weird way, I could honestly say Rodimus was my gateway to understanding what a respectful fandom should look like, and that’s why he still have a special place in my heart.

I've always had a bit of a love/hate relationship when it came to Rod/Rodimus. I've grown to respect him mostly to thanks to how he was written in the IDW comics and I liked the dynamic he had with Bee in Cyberverse. But I want nothing to do with the Hot Rod from The Last Night.
he suffers from the same problems Arcee does. you would think, as one of the most iconic characters you would get pretty consistent characterizations. but you get wildly different version in each media. Even Hotshot was supposed to be hotrod (and is in the japanese versions) but is nothing like him.
I get that. Some writers and characterizations will resonate better than others, and Rodimus is sometimes an all star of a character and otherwise is more like a Rodimus in Name Only.
True, true. Truth be told, I think it’s only within recent memory that everyone outside of Optimus, Megs, Jazz, and Bee have been made more consistent. Even guys like Starscream, Soundwave, and Ratchey used to vary pretty wildly between versions.
Hot Rod is my boy, my favorite character in the whole franchise and I really wish he gets more love in the future

(And the Hot Rod from that set is pretty great, too. It's also large enough that if you don't get the Kingdom Commander class Rodimus, PotP Hot Rod can be an excellent stand-in for a mainline scaled Rodimus Prime.
43:17 Favorite Hot Rod: G1 & MP40. G1 is the original, the iconic. The MP28/MP40 mold (despite the ridonkalonkalously wonky torso) takes cues from the MP17 Datsun mold: it's basically the G1 toy with extra steps. Also, shout-out to SS86-4 Hot Rod and shout-out to the Hot Rod from PotP Rodimus.
Favorite Rodimus Prime: G1 & Kingdom. G1 is, again, the original and the iconic; the one I had as a kid was given to me from a buddy, so it was woefully INCOMPLETE, but it served as my Hot Rod until I got my first G1 Hot Rod. Kingdom is everything that previous Rodimus Prime specific figures should've been...except for the front end of the vehicle stickin' too far out. Shout-out to PotP Rodimus Prime.
It’s funny how Rodimus Prime specifically has had such a great history of toys. Whereas Hot Rod just kept getting the same molds released over and over, Rodimus stayed consistent. I love the G1 and Kingdom guys just like you do. And yeah, POP Roddy deserves more love.
The studio series hot rod is hands down my favorite version of the character in plastic form, he's just so fun to mess with!

I remember him! It’s so hard to keep track of third party stuff, I spent hours trying to make sure I had everyone!
The only one I have is Nemesis Hot Rodimus Unicronus.
The one I like the most is the Flame Toys model kit. IDW representation and my newfound love of model kits are talking together.
The one I really one to get is Cyberverse deluxe. My Maccadam is still incomplete without it.

I think what didn't endear him to people after the movie was giving him a character arc that kinda validated people's feelings about him, that he was unworthy. The constant returning to Hot Rod is because they needed to sell BOTH toys of him, and they couldn't do that if he was just Rodimus.
But without that, I'd prefer that he have the doubts for about 1 to 2 episodes THEN spend the rest of the season confident and proving he IS worthy.
Because yeah, Hot Rod IS a cool character, and manner of ways aside, he really should get a chance to be A leader, though maybe not THE leader, especially becoming Rodimus. I only saw a few "G2" episodes to count as my experience with G1 before I saw the movie in 2000, and of course, that means Rodimus has stuck in my head since.
Kingdom Rodimus, especially my custom MP-40-based maroon-painted one with Energon/Classics crest and a custom made large sword for him IS one of my favorites in my collection.
Also, I'm of the camp of he did not get Optimus killed. Optimus was foolish for not trying to shoot at the ground to stop Megatron from moving if he really wasn't going to kill him like Kup was telling him to. The only bad thing he did was try to jump Megatron than shoot him, but he clearly saw what Megs was trying to do that Optimus stupidly didn't.
I can agree with a lot of that. Rodimus had nothing to do with Optimus dying, but people would latch on to anything to be mad over Prime dying. As for Season 3, I chop that up to having so many writers and no unified vision. I think there were a lot of episodes where Rodimus was great, only for them to back step when another writer sent in a scriptx

I like the SS86 Hot Rod a lot but he is deluxe sized which I find a bit cheeky, anyway nice figure glad to have him.
I mainly like the Kingdom Rodimus, I did soften his face with some lighter grey paint but for sure would buy a replacement head for him, probably even buy a new version of him if Hasbro even puts one out as a SS86.
I think I like the Studio Series TLK Hot Rod figure more than I enjoyed the character in the film, I understand Studio Series figures may get less repaint uses (maybe from licensing costs?) but I for sure would buy this figure again in a G1 colour scheme.
Man, I’d buy so many Studio Series repaints. G1 repaints would be awesome, but I’d also like a lot of the toy repaints from 07. Nightwatch Optimus, Shadow Blade Megatron, Desert Brawl, Evac from Blackout, Cliffjumper from Bee: I’d buy them in a heartbeat.

Amazing vid as always! I, personally, have always loved Hot Rod's design. He looks so cool with those flames on him. However I only have the POTP version of him, which isn't the best. Honestly, the paint on him sucks and his foil stickers keep peeling off. I would really want ss86 Hot Rod though. Hope to see a video on The Many Toys of my boy Ironhide!

I wish we saw more of him, he was so great in that scene! Team Athena as a whole was great, half the team were character that were supposed to be in the main cast. Red Alert was replaced by Ratchet, Hot Shot was replaced by Bumblebee, and Bulkhead’s design was similar to Brawn’s.

That’s a really solid 3, I would love to get my hands on the Choro Q guy. I did mention Mega SCF, it was in the middle of all the Heroes of Cybertron guys, but I went over him really quick.

I never understood the hate for him. Yes, his actions helped (not caused) the death of OP, but The real culprit was Megatron himself, and a small part of the blame should be directed to OP, since he could had shot Megs at any time before HotRod even appeared and didn’t. He also didn’t shoot when Megs was grabbing HR having some openings and not taking them. At the end it wasn’t HR fault that hasbro wanted to kill OP in the first place.
The season 3 hate for him because he felt that he was not worthy, maybe was repetitive and handled a bit poorly, but makes sense. HotRod wasn’t an experienced warrior, he was just a rookie that suddenly became the highest position in an instant… of course he needed time and advice
My first HotRod was the toysrus masterpiece. I kept it misb for a year or so inside a closet because I was afraid of opening it and breaking. Then I decided to open it up aaaaand, his right arm was broken… I got really really pissed off. I got another one, luckily not very much marked up in price, and it wasn’t broken. But I transformed it like twice and never touched it again scared of it breaking again. That figure makes me anxious and is one of the reasons I’m not very fond of Masterpieces
I totally agree. The way I see it, Optimus was a father to his men, and Hot Rod was just a kid. He thought his dad was about to be gunned down and tried to help. That’s not stupidity or evil, that’s a kid who loves his dad trying to protect him.
I also fully understand that the season 3 stuff can get clunky at times, but I love it. After two seasons where Optimus was the perfect leader, it was cool to see an Autobot commander who didn’t have that confidence or wisdom. If handled well, it had all the potential to be an amazing arc.

Damn that was a long video but a good one and for the first time I'm going to talk about the character himself. Hot Rod/Rodimus in the movie and G1 was for me kind of bland, dgmw he's not a bad character by any mean he's the Luke Skywalkher of the film it's just that... he's not appealing to me in G1, however, no, Hot Rod didn't kill Optimus Prime grew up plz (I'm talking about some fanboy not you lol). Other than that I really like Rodimus in IDW but hey it's IDW so they are goated.
Toys now I would love to purchase the Animated, Energon and DX9 Carry they look like a lot of fun to play with and for my favorite... I would say SS86 Hot Rod but my copy of the figure broke when I took him out of the box, I'm really unlucky
I hate to hear about your SS86 Hot Rod, when the QC bug hits you there’s nothing worse. I totally get what you mean about G1 Hot Rod in the movie, he reeks of main character. I did like Rodimus in season 3, almost entirely because he’s so miserable as a leader. I love that he’s so worn down and tired, and how he feels like he never measures up, it was interesting as a contrast to Optimus. I just hate how many people hate on Rodimus for no good reason. You have people out here acting like he ruined the franchise, poisoned our crops, and kicked a puppy on the way out.

@ to be honest, a Lancer sounds really badass, though. And Carry is an awesome figure, its stylized appearance is based on Japanese promotional imagery by a firm called Studio Ox. I really love it, and I’ve not had any knee problems with my mp-09, I had to fix my hasbro masterpiece Rodimus primes shoulder. Hot Rod was my childhood favorite transformer, and all the toy love he gets tells me there’s more fans out there than the (silly) vocal fans would like us to believe, theywho really soured the trajectory of the fiction, probably for all time.

Despite being born in 2000 I grew up with the movie some g1 season 3 characters from my local thrift shop and my best friend had season 3 on dvd so my outrage " they killed Optimus moment " was " they just undid Rodimus" and than I saw rebirth and yah he felt as juvenile as he was as hotrod at the beginning of the movie. My " they brought Optimus back moment" was when Rodimus recharged the matrix and became Rodimus Convoy in japan again...and than Optimus died again which put a very smug smirk on my face.
Also stop saying " would of " you make it sound like all of these got cancelled .

Energon Rodimus was such a cool character, and I love the idea that another group of Autobots would rather follow Roddy then Optimus.
I also agree with you about feeing worse about Rodimus become Hot Rod again then him getting the matrix. I love Rodimus Prime and the story they told of him growing as a leader. It felt wrong to have him lose all of that.

Also, I related to Rodimus because I spent a good chuck of time trying to cope with my responsibilities because I wasn't prepared to grow up and I had a lot of self-doubt . I still do have self-doubts but I spend less time trying to run from my growth.
I think G1 hot rod was one of the better original car transformers toy. The G1 rodimus toy looked ulgy imo. Was hotrod suppose to be maroon or magenta tho?
It really depended on the episode and where your toy came from. Some G1 Hot Rods and Rodimuses are maroon, some (especially those released in Mexico and the southern US) are more magenta. The cartoon also flipped back and forth.
@@ronbondujon9690i think in the original toy and movie release, Hot Rod is more of a Reddish color while in modern released, he more pinkish (maybe because of the brighter color correction for the movie)

As for why not a T-Rex, I think it’s just because they didn’t want him possibly stepping on Megatron’s toes.

Hot Rod still suck as Rodimus Prime. He let Optimus Prime die by Megatron's hands. Same, I would go with Rodimus Primal & Oh Yeah, he also SUCK as a Transformers fan TH-camr.
