I had a diesel VW Rabbit I put over 250,000 miles on before trading it in. The window track on the bottom of the windows had a problem. They would either rust out over time or just come unglued. I loved that little car though, got 50 miles to the gallon on the highway. Enjoyed your video and agree the Germans know how to design cars.

Great job both on fixing the window and the video. Speaking "Mechanic" LOL been there, done that. A little touch up paint will make that car all yellow again.
I am trying to decide if I want to take this yellow piece off the panel and try to swap it or just break down and spend $30 on a can of spray paint for the exact match and paint the red one.
Dang that stuff made of gold? I was thinking you could find some Duplicolor or some other rattle can to match. At $30 a pint I think the Bride could live with it red. ;-)

When you remove the metal panel, the window is exposed and you simply lift it up. You can use duct tape to hold it while you position the rollers in the window track.
DoingItCheap I can’t remove the metal panel because I can’t loosen the window clamp screws. I don’t have enough window sticking up to grab onto. Any suggestions?
Good job paw paw its true unfortunately German engineering has always surpassed American engineering. Our most sophisticated weaponry we have today has all came from German engineering in some ways its just shameful. Hope you have a great day too paw paw ypur the best.

I have window problems in a Chevy truck and I ride around in the summer with the windows up and no A/C versus repairing it......may think better now that I am making videos.
In a pot of cold water....bring water and eggs to a rolling boil for one and a half minutes. Turn off the heat and cover the pot. 15 minutes later run cold water over them to cool. When you boil eggs, if you have a green layer around the yellow, you are overcooking them.

Carry the door panel down to your local auto parts store and see if they can color match it, should not cost more then a couple bucks for some paint.

The paint used on the outside was $300 for the gallon !! DB2..................$109 per pint !

It is extremely easy to do and self explanatory when you get into it.

You should not have to raise the window. Mine had fallen and I did not raise it until after I pulled the panel.
