I ordered these cams from American muscle and I had my engine completely rebuilt from the ground up and now I'm told I need to tune my engine because of the stage 2 comp cams even though this video says no need to tune your car using these cams. My 1998 mustang gt runs great but my problem is it shuts down when I come to a stop and it shuts off when at ideal. I need help what can I do to keep my mustang on. Do I really need to tune my mustang?
Any cam you’re gonna want a tune. If you completely rebuilt your engine a tune should be the last of your worries. You should have put in the proper research, but apart from that, good luck
Probably Old springs are ...slower this keeps the valve open longer deducting performance. Stronger springs will put more stress on the pins for the timing chain guides you might want to beef them up too
Adjustable cam gears? So im guessing when i put these cams, springs and retainers. Thats another part i have to consider? Can someone help please so i can buy the right things. Thanks !
I know this video is old, but looking into doing these relatively soon. No piston upgrade is required (stated below) but valve springs are required. Looking on lmr website, it said these cams require an additional tune and upgraded pistons as engine damage will occur. Help?
Any modifications are almost useless without a re-tune. Most tuners will work with you on getting your ride going. As for pistons... Valve reliefs (notches for the valves) in pistons allow more aggressive cam timing but usually are not required unless heads have been shaved or milled down (if you do gotta mill timing cover too) Performance parts manufacturers always put in helpful hints but your tuner is ultimately your source of knowledge.
thats mild if you ask me depends on what you consider easily "streetable " gears trans tires ect play a big role. its not crazy like you are thinking . power gains start before 2000rpm an hang in till like 5500 or something like that . stock rear end gears an a 5 speed would love these cams
Yup! Although a tune will definitely pick up some more power especially with the addition of the Cams, these are compatible with the stock tune and will work completely fine with the stock file as it is a mild cam. Hope this helps! - Will
Hey! I want to put cams in my mustang, and I've been in the fence between stage 2 and stage 3, I don't care too much on the power change between the two, I wanna know how the lobe sounds compare, with the stage 3 will I have a beautiful neck breaking lobe, the only downside is I'd probably have to get some new heads though right? Is the sound of the stage going to give me the same sound but little less power and less hassle? I've been on the fence about stage 2 and stage 3 for about a year now!
Nicholas Cicotte I'm tell u now the stage 3 is very very nice and very noticeable.I have stage 2 and it sounds good too but if I can do it all over I'd go stage ,3 bro
Nicholas Cicotte but yea stage requires a little more things like good set of heads.perhaps the new trick flow ones and of courses injesctorsmass air flow.and even better a tune
Why not cams for 1995 3.8L v6 mustang?? I'm currently doing my turbo build and I was looking and I see more 4.6L and 5.0 cams than anything but no v6 why not??
Jacob Ray there are speciality shops that offer that but best results will be from a custom cam. Just send your stock cam to Comp Cams and they can weld & regrind them to whatever you need or ask for " the total waste of time and money " package.

Will these require a stall speed converter like the stage 3 ones or no?
so it is mandatory to change out the factory valve springs to run this cam set up?
Probably

J Gomez they are not required but can help you get more power

3 years and no comment to your question? 🤦♀️

230 degrees @ 0.50" lift is not a mild street cam...would be nice to see some actual dyno results for the claims...

Lobe separation angle is also a factor here.
wait no tune required? what?
that threw me off too

Do you actually need those springs and retainers from beehive or are the stock ones good enough?
You need them
Do you have to upgrade the pistons?
no just your valves springs
Tyren laviene oh ok thanks
Not a problem
FastBoostedGaming the description on lmrs website says to. Let me know how it goes.
i would have watched this if steph was delivering the add lol ... jk
exactly
Would these work in a 97 thunderbird? It’s also a 4.6l v8 2v
Yes with a tune or handheld
Can these be used in PI heads with an NPI block and pistons? Or will I need notched pistons?
Will work without notched pistons
Only .5 lift is acceptable
I like my xe270ah cams ;)

Jacob Ray Super Six Motorsports is your answer. There's not a big market for Essex v6s
Why the fuck do you think. It’s a v6
yeah the older v6 sucked hillary twat .
Jacob Ray dont listen to these morons www.supersixmotorsports.com they have cams heads and ported intakes for the 3.8
Can this also be installed on a 2003 Ford Mustang GT Automatic
Yes but a stall converter update is also desired but not a must. The cams will cause the car to surge.
Does anyone know if i can run this on a mild bolt on gt with stock gears? Thanks in advance
yes they work fine with stock gears 273 -327. if you have headers an a pi intake / exhaust will work great .
Are they ok with a stock engine
These good with a blower?
Does these cams require them to be degreed?
No, But its recommended if you want to gain the most out of them.
they work with stock springs and other accesories?
Springs and retainers are recommended, but this cam is mild enough to get away with stock setup, honestly
recommended , but not mandatory?
recommended , but not mandatory?
recommended , but not mandatory?
Robert Moose
recommended, but not mandatory?
would these work in a 1997 f150 4.6?
blackriflex39 if your f150 is a 2v, yes
blackriflex39 yes
Will it work in automatic transmission
Yes they are put in Crown Vics all the time just need to build the trans when trying to get around 600hp
Need cams for the late model mustang ecoboost premium.
Keith Bjelland coyote swap
why do you get two if it's a 2v single cam engine
Oliver it's a single overhead cam engine. meaning one camshaft per cylinder head, and since it's a v8 you have two cylinder heads
Because even tho pushrod makes more sense and in the long run is more practical, get ready to pay more
the ford modular engines dont have pushrods tf you taking about
Oliver single over head cam on cam per head
Oliver you are an idiot 😂😂 no car in the world only has one camshaft in it. Especially mustangs. Do u ever go on Google?
Svt @???
So it’s recommended you run .355s but I have .373s… what am I missing out on/ problems I’m gonna have?
3.73s will work even better
nice
Will this work for a 2005 crown Victoria?
Eli Padilla yes
ues they are same engine
Same for 2011?
