Thank you for taking the time on your excellent tutorial.
I was thrilled to discover my SAAB 96 utilized a Ford industrial engine 30 years ago. Now 30 years later I'm pulling it out of storage and re-discovering it. Your resource will be invaluable. Thanks again

V4's where used in Europe in a lots of cars. Taunusses, Capri's, .. In variants of 1300, 1500 with a single barrel carburetor, and a 1700cc with a double barrel carburetor.

The open deck block concept was used till 11/67 Then Ford went with a closed deck block.
The blocks are both 90mm bore, and can be built as a 1500 or 1700 as long as you use all the matching components. But keep in mind the 1500 & 1700 are a different stroke, so you can use rods and pistons from one engine to another. And use the correct heads.

    Informative video👍
From my experience these engines are normally junk if you buy them used. They all seem to of had zero maintenance, have been abused and are totally worn out.
This has an up side though. You can get good money for a rebuilt motor.
1.7 pistons are hard to get now (in Europe) so I have used 2.0 pinto pistons (90.82mm) and bored out the block to match. Then taken 1.65mm off the piston tops. Problem solved.

Wonderful video. Thank you. I'm wondering about the Mustang I. Could you please explain or show what bell housing will mount to the V-4 engine? From what I can see the bolt pattern on the block looks similar to a Ford Pinto / Kent engine pattern.

Is the 2600cc block a 6 cylinder version of that V4?

Can't understand why Ford allowed Ford UK to design there own engine "Essex V4" when the German built Cologne V4 had already been in production for several years, the whole process must have cost Thousands in the 1960's.

Can,t tell if it is a 1700 or 2000 cc engine you have. But if the distributor is in the front of the engine it is a english v4 called essex. The v4 he shows has the distributor in the back. And it is the cologne v4. That sat in german fords. And in saab 96
