As an artist I love being in this flow state it's addictive, not leaving to go and 'human' until discomfort can't be banished out of mind any longer. I do wish I didn't overthink or get too caught up in creating the right conditions that I stop myself from simply getting started so much though, I would probably end up in flow state much more often.
i find my flow state most naturally when im doing something i love and its something i have done over and over. For me flow state is akin to muscle memory, when i apply a formula over and over to the point where i can recall it without thinking, when i can glance at an equation and begin solving it without so much as a second thought. Flow state makes me efficient, and a metaphorical work horse, i can work for hours and itll feel as if only minutes have passed. Ironically realising you are in flow takes you out of it and it emphasises the importance of not being mindful, i lose myself and my worries melt away in a sea of numbers and symbols and a flurry of turning pages. If you take anything away from this it should be this: doing what you love is an easy way into the flow state and continuous practice will allow you to activate it more frequently.
Last time I felt the flow state was with my rowing team. Everyone was in sync, silent, and the only nose was the click of the oars, the rush of the water beneath the boat. It was crazy
when you come out of flow state you feel as though you have been on top of the world ,it certainly is a gift of human mastery from god and when you see what you have accomplished an added treat. It's magical . a few times i experienced it while drawing , and fast ,rhythmic walking while listening to music earphones in nature on a sunny day and dancing.🤗
Ask yourself these three questions to discover your flow strategy: 1) Where are you mostly when you experience flow? 2) What are you doing there? 3) WHY are you doing it? What is your purpose? Try to transport that purpose to different areas of life. That is your flow strategy.
Be advised that this does NOT work for everyone. I myself are an example. My hobby and work are pretty much the same, but when doing work I pretty much never experience flow. But the moment I take a tool into my hand at home i am off to flowland. Despite both being basically the same. But the difference in context makes it pretty much impossible to reach flow on work for me.
Interesting but as a traveller I must say the first step doesn't make sense to me. (The where question) Because I had to learn how to be at ease with myself, in any situations or at anybody's house. Me that used to be a really shy kid I learnt a lot the last 3 years, me that was hiding in my room I now see myself playing guitar in the train, dancing in the street, being myself full time.
I wish everyone could experience flow. For me I feel it when I mountain bike on my favorite trails or when I pick up my guitar and play something I really love. I just can't imagine my life without flow.
What a treat to listen to your flow state🌟☀️🙏🥰 Thank you 🙏 Let’s get this teaching into primary school and through to perfection in high school🌟☀️ Bless your courage💜
Yeah.. I can relate. When I did freelancing, all my senses heightened and my focus narrowed when I had to generate essays for students who couldn't be bothered to do their own work. It was the greatest fun I had mainly because of the greens that kept coming in. Coding also helped me entered flow eventhough Android studio is the worst thing that happened to mankind. Because the feeling and pleasure of a perfect compile is indescribable.
I loved living in Naperville. I find my flow state very simply. I just write what the story or piece tells me to do. Thanks for you wonderful presentation. You're inspiring. MN
Even a bad experience and in attempt to recover from it using meditation and staying logical to new information and open to different waves of emotion we certainly start losing urself and suddenly u feel that u r the initiator and every situation is in ur control feels effortless and time slows down and u see things in slow mo and you become very attentive as if u r not just the body u r awareness of everything, that's how I felt the flow in 2019
havent watched yet but flow state of mind found me when i started studying a language I love(started in the morning and looked up and didnt realize it was later afternoon when i stopped) (didnt know loved it that much and never studied a day in my life) and even just today i was focused ALLLLL DAY improving my drawing. i dont take any breaks for anything unless i rlly rlly rlly need to go to the bathroom which prob isnt good. but as a major procrastinator, the flow state of mind is something im so grateful for and dont even try to get into. it just happens to me on anything I work on. but i didnt know it can be used for anxiety which i rlly rlly need to figure out lol

I used to be able to get into a deep state of flow playing basketball and dancing but my health has kept me from it and I've actually got depressed.i miss that sort of outer body experience I can remember those moments like they were yesterday but I can't get it back

Well I have a weird experience I don't know what it is or is it related to this video. But there was a one time I was in a serious argument with my brother. words are just flowing I was completely immersed on it. But the moment I realized what I was doing I lost the that flow I cannot get back on to it. This also happens when I am writing essays or reading a book. At some point I realize what I am doing and I can not do it again like how I was doing it perfectly. This really bothers me 💔Especially when this happens in an exam
I totally get it. One time I was at an audition to get into an orchestra. I absolutely soared as I was playing only to be interrupted by my inner critic saying "How are you going to keep that up?" Then I bombed the rest of the audition! So embarrassing. Curious.... What part of you notices when you're doing it perfectly and then shuts it down? Is it your inner critic, or some other internal voice? When it butts in, acknowledge it and release it. In my mind I think something like "Thanks for looking out for me. Why don't you let me finish here first and then you can give me all of your feedback afterwards?" Then I use my Flow Strategy™ to get back 'into"it.

Have a conversation with your inner perfectionist voice. Say something like this: "I'm going to spend an hour doing __________. I know you'll have a lot to say to me along the way. But instead, I'm going to ask you to wait until I'm done and then you can tell me everything you're thinking." Then, if it tries to interrupt along the way, say a quick "Hi - it's not an hour yet" and get right back into it. Let me know how it goes!
It's freaking amazing how she is replying to comments even after almost 2 years of the talk.. respect!

@Diane Allen well now THAT makes sense. What an incredible performance and talk. Thank you.

Thanks so much Debbie! I agree - you "find" yourself by "losing" yourself in flow. Were you able to figure out your Flow Strategy™???
"Where are you mostly when you experience flow?" great insight!
this really helped me. I learned my flow state was opening my heart and leading with love
I excel in flow state when I am sleeping
sleep is not flow..... flow happens from concentration... totally on one thing... and losing sense of body ,mind, time.
