That was refreshing to see. Love him, or hate him, I'm a big Wumbo fan. I'm a big Doremy fan too. I was getting a feeling that Wumbo was the bane of Doremy's existence. Doremy wasn't going for it in that match. Dude is hella fast too.
take my comment with a grain of salt, i have stayed b- in both s1 and s2, however im starting to see especially in s2, that after wumbo makes the center 4w, he doesnt really have pressure anywhere else until later into the game. a lot of the time, i see wumbo immediately committing to the 4w, and by the time he gets down, theres no real plan after. like, sure, main goal is getting good garbage for a huge spike, but against people like doremy, it's a bit hard to see the benefit - seeing as players in this rank a majority of the time just downstack it off. a great example of this is 4:58. by the time midgame starts, wumbo is a majority of the time, behind in the race for b2b to get surge, sometimes even before the 4w even finishes. however, this isn't exactly a bad thing. his midgames are good, dont get me wrong! it's just i see him consistently putting himself at a disadvantage coming into the midgame because of his commitments in the opener. keep in mind, im only writing this to learn how to try and analyze my own replays the same way. i admire both of these players! im just trying to come at things from a neutral perspcetive to try and learn.
This is a typical complaint about wumbo's style, he did the same thing in puyo puyo Tetris, jstris and tetrio a lot of people see him as a c4w crutcher and I think it's a result of him simply not being able to be fast enough for a high aggression B2B style, so he's forced to play cheesier/more defensive to keep up but since tetrio is pushing to be less combo heavy and more and more B2B/mid game, c4w is losing out I think it's admirable to stick to what he knows and to hone it but it is what it is it's simply not the fan favorite style of play
@@NonJohns Hes not complaining lol. Hes just putting an opinion out there of how wumbo could improve his play style. I agree with him though. In hope, he does master his style. Competitive life style is to adapt and it doesnt seem like he has been adapting. "sticking with what you know best" is not how you improve. I do hope wumbo finds a way to master his style and become top though. We just wanna see wumbo win.
i honestly respect that playstyle a lot cuz i find it unique in a world of super aggressive b2bs and openers. wumbo was my main inspiration to start playing like that too, just go with the flow and counter everything that comes my way
4w midgame can be easily topped out if the opposent can send some lines + you have to relay on combos to cancel what the other is sending and sometimes you can't combo in 4w. Even harder to pull it out against high X rank. There is a reason why you don't see any 4w in pro tourney. Doremy has an overall better midgame. The pace of the match is more about if domery make a mistake wumbo can have avantage on it. Wumbo game is way more defensive because he knows it. So no, not easily at all buddy
that's not disrespect, that's just good decision making. if your opponent has good defense but bad pressure then the counterplay is big spike setups like this
Wumbo is... a little cheap, to say the most. He does do 4w, for the spikes and a possible kill confirm. It's worth mentioning though, that it is easier for pros to counter than we think. Take any X+ player, I think he could possibly die. A pro techmino player can build stupid back-to-back in time! No hate to Wumbo, still one of my faves. I think he might have accidentally created a cult of 4 widers haha
Ah I remember these days when Doremy uploaded "vs Wumbo" on his channel and wrote in description something like "look, he's can play not only 4w". I wonder what he's gonna say nowadays 😅
Did back to back receive another buff? I dont remember seeing folks end their streak for an additional spike from the streak itself...nearly as busted as the combo system itself...just more risky
season 2 rules, they removed chaining (so b2b will only give +1 attack no matter how much b2b you have) and replaced it with surge (if you have 4 or more b2b, when you break your b2b it sends number of lines equal to your b2b, broken up into 3 attacks)
Idk how to feel about surge b2b, I love the idea at face value, and I get the point is ranked based on consistency/efficiency, it just feels they basically nerfed everything else a bit too much I hate opener mains so much, I'm happy they can't send 42 lines within the first 4 bags, however, it feels so nerfed that it's not even a viable option anymore. Anything besides TKI and MKO, just feel incresibly weakened and a by an insane margain. I mean PCO, biggest difference, halving the lines sent, at that point, you're setting up your opponent more than possibly killing them. SDPC, no words, glad this is basically dead, but 4w, so weak compared to before, 30 spike used to be scary, now with good stacking, surge nullifies and sends a bit back. Idk, overall amazing update with surge, just still feels it needs to be worked on

Season 2 started today, give him some time
This is a typical complaint about wumbo's style, he did the same thing in puyo puyo Tetris, jstris and tetrio
a lot of people see him as a c4w crutcher and I think it's a result of him simply not being able to be fast enough for a high aggression B2B style, so he's forced to play cheesier/more defensive to keep up
but since tetrio is pushing to be less combo heavy and more and more B2B/mid game, c4w is losing out
I think it's admirable to stick to what he knows and to hone it
but it is what it is
it's simply not the fan favorite style of play
Wumbo's main playstyle when excluding the c4w is defensive counter attacking so you prolly wont be seeing anything too flashy from him

10:35 what in god's name
How the f did he do that
A srs+ moment of all time
If only Wumbo could stack as fast as he could stack a mid 4w he would be beating Doremy easily... Classic 4Wideumbo tho

i think he meant wumbo's speed on c4w, not midgame 4w. so he thinks that wumbo would beat doremy if he's around 3.5ish pps
Platform of the gods ❌
Battle of the gods ✅
Doremy strategy: build up b2b, survive, spike
Wumbo strategy: hehe 4w
Average day in the dream world (touhou reference)
you putting that explanation ruined the joke
Wow I thought doremy retired, he's still a tetris god

Hi exilelord wtf
remember a huge part of why this is fun to watch is the sfx
Yesss
z-spin at ~10:34 is crazy
how'd doremy do that?
broken Rotate System
I was wondering the same thing. That Z Spin still has my head all twisted like a 🥨.
@@Illuminator99So would that be Clockwise or Counter-Clockwise. Is that allowed in Standard SRS?
@@brandonboyd1583 if he did it. so it possible.

Doremy has been getting better and better
tl;dr doremy hasnt played wumbo for a while and it took a bit for him to remember how to counter
I like my spikes fast and my stacks down low
The new ranked system is crazy
the prophecy at 6:57 is insane
when was 16k U rank? in season 1 thats A+ rank. in season 2 thats S or S+
A tale as old as time
why is doremy not playing inf sdf
