I came because of your video on your other channel telling me of this channels existance, congratulations BTW a million secs sounds a great way of celebrating. Some day coming and doing that climb might be a great way of celebrating for me as right now I am practically bed bound and I am trying to vlog my climb back to walking normally. Prior to Covid I was an overweight gym bunny, but because of lock down I am insanely fat & can totter but a few steps. Quite the adventure I have taken. Why did you not take insta360 RS 1" sensor unit. It films in low light. Hopefully TH-cam will allow you to you see this reply. Thanks
While the shutter speed might add some extra jittery in low light cases, what I wrote about 24 fps is absolute fact, which is why the jitter is present in all your 24 fps videos (even those outside in bright daylight), but not in your older 30 fps videos. Your "action cam" is acclaimed for good low light performance by the way and should easily keep up with any framerate in the conditions you were in. It doesn't really matter if people watch on a TV or a "monitor". Modern TVs almost all have a frequency of either 60hz or 120hz, most of them 60hz still (Even in Europe, despite always having had 25 fps as standard). There is no extra flexibility/freedom or advantage to 24 fps over 30 fps. You can do the same with 30 fps and have it look better. 24 fps does not look less cheap. It just looks jittery, but the majority of people just can't distinguish it anyway and are just going along with what they're being told is good. However, many of these people will also watch 4:3 video stretched to 16:9 and not be able to tell it doesn't look right. TH-camrs use 24 fps because of misunderstandings, such as thinking that since films are in 24 fps, then it must be a good framerate for their videos too. It's not about being hypersensitive, but about sense of quality, rather than going with the lower quality, that 24 fps objectively is, just to satisfy the crowd's misinformed idea of what's good, while that exact crowd wouldn't be able to tell the difference anyway. The rest of the audience are just putting up with it. (I recommend learning these things)
For those interested in taking the train to visit: If you arrive on the 8:37am and leave on the 9:52am you can be back in Tokyo by lunch and you never have to climb UP those stairs. Just saying.
To get there on the 08:37 train you need to catch the first northbound Shinkansen of the day from Tokyo at 06:08, change at Takasaki for the local train then change trains again at Minakami.
That was awesome. Thanks for your effort to get to the train platform so we could get a view of the outgoing train. Great exercise. It's a pity that those buildings outside the station are in such a terrible condition. 😢 We are looking forward to all the amazing places you plan to show us in future explorations. Take care. 😊
It's so sad and FASCINATING to see the inaka towns slowly fade and crumble. I have such respect for the younger generation who are going back and trying to open businesses. I have got to get me to Doai at some point and have totally added the glamping spot as a place to look into 🎪
I remember your original video of this station! It felt like an eerie, abandoned time capsule. When the train was coming, I held my breath because I was half expecting a ghost to walk out. Then people were walking off the train like it was a normal Tuesday. 😂 Very interesting to see so much life and people at Doai now! Thanks for revisiting!!
This is such a strange and interesting spot. Gives off such a feeling of loneliness. Feels like this weird timeless spot that sort of just exists against all odds. Uncaring to the passage of the seasons. I love it.
Norm can do amazing things when it comes to filming not to mention all his other skills and hobbies his very talented at. I am a fan and look forward to his content more than any one elses. Honest entertainment and always filmed magnificently. 😊
Its a really cool station to visit. Just make sure you bring a high grade mask if you're sensitive to mold or mildew as the lower platform is quite musty.
This is still one of the coolest and strangest stations that I've seen in Japan. You absolutely need to come back, do some glamping and explore the area!
"Instead of getting a ticket" … presses button and proceeds to get the exact type of ticket Japan used for decades before the advent of Pasmo and Suica.
Man, that's an amazing place, loved the vibe. Also, if you have a good enough mic, you can record a loud snap on the station, clean it up a bit, load the result in a convolution reverb plugin, and done: now you have a reverb profile from the station to use in music and/or other sound effects in a studio setting. The echo seems amazing.
I have added this to my Japan trip ideas. It looks like a place I would spend the couple of hours to get there on a local train. I feel like I could just be on a train for 2 weeks and be happy on a visit, just watching the scenery change.
Awesome video as always Norm. Doai Station is such a unique place full of rich history everywhere you look. Definitely a unique location when visiting Japan.
This train station must be one of those locations I saw in Chris video when he arrived to this location with Connor. And I remember that there used to be those notebooks and wall writings in Chris video, but now it seemed so cleaned and no signs of previous Teddy Bear or was it cat? Very nice timing with train when it is just rare occasion (You need to take part in the lottery this weekend..)
Long time viewer, never commenter. Don't know if they'd let you film, but Mikasa is one of the last remaining pre-dreadnought warships in the world. It's been converted into a museum in Japan for years. One of my favorite pictures from my trip (2018) was on that deck. So, even if you don't do a video on it, I know you like photography, and its got some cool picture-taking options.
How funny I was just thinking about this station today! Huge congrats on reaching 1M on the main channel I was there before 50k I still have the stickers! I’m so glad you’ve been able to keep making such wonderful adventures happen especially for those of us who can’t get to Japan yet thanks so much Norm here’s to many more adventures!
Brilliant video Norm, great seeing a train on the underground station too. Thank you for literally bounding down the stairs to make it too. Thank you for sharing this fascinating video with everyone. Best wishes from England 🏴🇨🇦🇯🇵
This video and the first one with Victor are like night and day, light and dark, black and white even. If memory serves as you said, there were no one but the 2 of you, it felt like an abandoned place from a spooky video game, where you could either get murdered easily or monsters could show up; and here it is, with so much people at the top, through the stairs and at the bottom, also got a train; it feels like a true operational station, which it is but still. The contrast is so insane that I think one can't truly appreciate it without having seen the other video. This was amazing, they seem to have innovated the place by quite a bit and as for if I would go there, I definitely would if I had the time, money and opportunity, I want to climb up and down those stairs at least once but I don't think I'd do it alone though😅
I have seen pretty much all your videos that you've uploaded on Doai station and every time I find myself in awe of it. If I ever get the chance to go to Tokyo again, I would love to come to Doai and experience it. In all your videos it was only ever that one old man walking up or down, and now there were probably more than hundred people, and a train. I am excited for your big adventure series, don't know if I'll be able to watch them live, but I will watch them, because I do love seeing more of Japan.
So awesome to see the remote areas that are virtually untouched by tourists. I subscribe to both channels just to get glimpses of areas like this. My wife is from Japan but we live in the U.S. and wish we could come visit much more often. Thank you for all your videos
Looking forward to the numerous stops and chances to explore! Thanks for taking the time to bring us a deeper delve to the beautiful lesser explored Japan.
I’ve been looking forward to you returning to this station! It has been by far one of my favorites, it’s just so fascinating. I was surprised to see so many people! I wonder what the camp is like near there.
Ive seen all of your adventures here, and it was so cool to the train! Not to mention all the people too. Kind of random, but there's something really satisfying about hearing the water flowing down the sides of the stairs while you were on them.
there's such a cool liminal vibe to this station! you can see the wear and tear in places, and it just makes it look so cool! Kudos to you for braving the stairs again Norm!!
This station is beautiful, I love when you share it with us. It’s also nightmare fuel with the never ending stairs. And of course I really want to go through the ‘do not enter’ door! 💜
Looking forward to the new adventure. I don't comment often, but have been watching for a long time. I love living vicariously through your excursions as I can't be in Japan as often as I'd wish, plus I can't drive which limits everything. Congratulations on one million.
I just read on Wikipedia this station is 70 meters below the ground, meanwhile the Tunnelbana of Stockholm will get a station built 100 meters below ground. They're building lifts but it'd be exciting to know how many stairs that would need!
The station is old but quite clean! Amazing! No trash , no graffiti, no homeless people, no gangs. Its a good place to exercise by running up and down the stairs!
A video on an station in a remote location, so many people arriving or leaving, and ask the question why? That alone is the seed to a short story. So much intrigue. Excellent video.
Long time viewer, first time commenting. Love watching your vids and Doai would certainly be on the list of must see at some point! My biggest challenge in getting to some of the amazing places you show off is not having a driver’s license and having to depend on public transit. Looking forward to your next adventure
This is almost literally the state of WV, except in Japan - and it's beautiful. I'm glad you revisited Doai. The shamisen video was incredible, and I'd hoped you'd have a long cut of the tunnel during a busy season.
Now that is a lot of stairs!!! The journey begins!!! I never get tired of Dohai Station. It's good to see some new businesses opening up there! Glamping any one??? Love it!!!
I remember the first time you explored this station. It hasn't changed much. A very sort of cold war entering the vault feeling! Thanks for the revisit. I bet the campsite is cool. Looking forward to hearing more about it.
I will forever live for these kinds of videos. Just going out to somewhere that is nowhere and exploring something that feels like everything. I know you've shown this place before, but it is amazing still, nonetheless.
Dude, thank you for taking us to a journey like this, i mean you always making a video about exploring some extraordinary site of Japan that not so famous but exciting to be visited. I hope someday i can visit there too. とても楽しい 😁
Weirdly, is like I could smell the humidity of the tunnel, and sense the depth of it just by watching the video, I like that earthy smell and environment 😀 , so nice you managed to catch a train, totally lucky, thank you Norm 😊
Definitely a spot I plan on visiting when I eventually go to Japan. I was also surprised to see how busy it is after seeing all your other videos in this spot
Norm, dude, this is one of the spots in Japan I wouldn't know about without your channel but having seen it, I WANT TO VISIT. Amazing, dude, thank you very very much for this freaking amazing video, you are A LEGEND!!!!! Thank you for this amazing video, bro, so damn good!!!!! ❤👌🤘👍
That station is amazing. I remember thinking when I saw your first video there that it would be so creepy but amazing to visit in the middle of the night!
I would love to go to Doai station. Although it would take me a long ride. I can’t drive a car, so it would be by train or try to carpool 😅. But the station really looks so cool! Would love to have some fun in there taking pictures. Sooo visually pleasing. Thank you Norm for taking us around. Soooo lucky with the train 🥰. Looking forward to the adventures in the upcoming videos 🤩
The station in the video is about 200% brighter than itis in real life. The moss grows where there is light, so in-between the moss are darker sections with very low light.
Awesome! I remember the time you and Victor visited and how creepy it felt. This time it didn"t feel uncomfortable at all. It's become quite a tourist attraction.
I had to pause mid watch to find the Ki&Ki video - the acoustics were amazing 💯 though I didn’t envy them getting up & down those stairs in their outfits!

that is the most incredible station I've ever seen.
it's such a mix of unknown attraction and liminal space.
Feels like the kind of place you'd see in a Ghibli movie
This station is 1000% getting added to my Japan bucket list! The vibes are incredible and I NEED to experience it for myself!
It's so sad and FASCINATING to see the inaka towns slowly fade and crumble. I have such respect for the younger generation who are going back and trying to open businesses. I have got to get me to Doai at some point and have totally added the glamping spot as a place to look into 🎪
Especially since they have the train option no excuse they do not need to cram into some of the cities

This is such a strange and interesting spot. Gives off such a feeling of loneliness. Feels like this weird timeless spot that sort of just exists against all odds. Uncaring to the passage of the seasons. I love it.
I didn't realise the station was actually in use still. I assumed it must've been abandoned! So cool to see a train actually using it
had no idea that the camera man was a full blown Olympian. Did you see him jump like that? 😂

I love how the walls grow algae in that tunnel.. but only around the lights... super spooky vibes.
Congratulations on a million on the main channel. I’m excited to see what you do now Norm. Great video mate. 😊
What he describes is not, though, a ticket. A ticket is something you pay for that gives you the right to travel.
That seems like the proof of station you travel from, and you are supposed to pay at the other station or on the train?
I like how when the train arrived, you were not the only one running down like a madman lol
Sprinting down a set of stairs for a shot of a ghost train. What a great catch ! ❤
I think if I walked down all of those stairs, the only way I’m getting out is on a train! LOL 😮💨
It's very nice to see a hidden gem of Japan that needs more attention. These are some of the most important videos. Nice job catching that train too!
…..this is better than the main channel!
Thx for sharing the experience.
This is incredible! Thank you for the adventure!
Man, that's an amazing place, loved the vibe.

Very cool. Will have to find time to visit. Thanks for taking us there!
In my imagination, the green moss covered walls and that little exit hatch are the perfect setting for an anime adventure!
Finally catching a premier! Soooo awesome you caught the train!
The return of one of my favorite destinations you’ve been too! So exciting and such a great watch!!!
Thanks for going back and showing us more. Much appreciated.
That's why there are so many people there, Norm. You recommended the place. :D So amazing...
It is a must visit for me when I go to Japan
Love seeing more of this place. It’s like the entrance to the back rooms 😱
Awesome video as always Norm. Doai Station is such a unique place full of rich history everywhere you look. Definitely a unique location when visiting Japan.
Obsessed with the little stream alongside the stairs! And all the moss! ❤ It's strangely beautiful
This train station must be one of those locations I saw in Chris video when he arrived to this location with Connor. It's really wild to see so many people there, having watched all your other videos from here.
Great Video, always Interesting to see DOAI Station such a fascinating place.
I’ve been looking forward to you returning to this station! It has been by far one of my favorites, it’s just so fascinating. I was surprised to see so many people! I wonder what the camp is like near there.
I remember when you made a video of this station. Such a cool place. It was one of the first videos of yours I watched ❤
I love when you post this station! 🚉
I want to visit so bad.
I love the moss that grows by the lamps. It gives the whole thing a very special atmosphere.
Another top-drawer video , nicely done!

Love that you ran down those stairs major dedication! Props for not falling.😂
Your stamina is really incredible.
I will say this is the one train station that you don't want to be late to catch your train.
The station is old but quite clean! Amazing! No trash , no graffiti, no homeless people, no gangs. Its a good place to exercise by running up and down the stairs!
For trains weirdos like me, that’s an E129 and no… it doesn’t go to Tokyo.
E129 type is primarily used in Niigata prefecture.
Japan, subway tunnels, mountains, and snow...the perfect video for me!
Thanks for this adventure
Norm, every video is an adventure. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
A video on an station in a remote location, so many people arriving or leaving, and ask the question why? That alone is the seed to a short story. So much intrigue. Excellent video.

とても楽しい 😁
So cool to see the train there! Those stairs are insane, looks kinda fun to climb them (or leap down them).
I would love to visit this station! Been wanting to see it since I saw the original video you did!
Honestly that place has some Final Fantasy vibes (exploring canalisations etc.). Great video!
I would love to go up and down so many stairs! I always found that kind of thing cool! You did some good, Norm!!🤩
I literally just got done watching the main channel announcement, lucky to have caught this. Looking forward to the next videos!
A very interesting spot, it was a lot of fun to visit. Local area was rather lovely also.
Looking forward to the video Norm.
Went there with my school/students a few years ago. The kids had a blast racing to the top. We must have spent a couple hours down there.
Very impressed with the quality - the sound was a stark difference but I didn't mind it in the tunnel, personally.
That station is amazing. I remember thinking when I saw your first video there that it would be so creepy but amazing to visit in the middle of the night!
Place looks great ! I can't imagine how breathtaking the view of those stairs are.
I would love to go to Doai station. Although it would take me a long ride. I can’t drive a car, so it would be by train or try to carpool 😅.
But the station really looks so cool! Would love to have some fun in there taking pictures. Sooo visually pleasing.

Norm! I initially thought I was seeing your older piece on this station. So glad I looked again. Wonderful piece as always
That large black daruma in the locked room with the wood was really cool looking.
i went there thanks to your previuos video and was AMAZING. Thank you so much for showing us these places
oh man thats an awesome station, I'm absolutely visiting it whenever I will visit Japan, I just hope it's still there by then!!!
Woohoo!! Congratulations! I'm So excited to see where we will go next❤🥰
Solid stair rating for this station! Such a beautiful area!
