Completely agree the trailers were horrible they looked kidy and stupid and Goofy and then I finally watched it cuz my friend recommended and I loved it
It was a pretty mediocre, paint-by-numbers film for that matter. The humor was Marvel-esque, the story was entirely predictable from start to finish, the action scenes were overblown and underwhelming, and the emotional impact was practically non-existent.
The bad advertisement is what made it not make money. I thought it was goofy cartoon they were making but it was way more serious and gave us the Cybertron we deserved
I gotta be honest, I don’t think advertising the serious side of the movie would have changed anything. I think audiences are just done with transformers
facts bro like who said "ya lets hire this guy who can care less about toys at a toy company" like bro this feels like what microsoft did to minecraft when they bought it
Going to the theaters is really expensive now. The economy isn’t good. Movies come out on streaming and digital in 1 month nowadays. It’s not just the marketing failing TF One.
The writers strike, inflation, the cost of movies generally, covid, the rise of streaming services… all contributed to the downfall of the cinema experience. Like music, the digital age will kill the cinema. Why even leave home when I can watch on my 75” tv (some call that small) on my own sofa, and have Uber deliver me whatever I want to eat. I just don’t feel the need to go to the cinema any more.
I’m hoping Transformers One can be like another Hellboy (2004), where that movie underperformed in theaters but did very well enough on home video for it to gain a sequel which is how we got Hellboy 2 The Golden Army.
Fitting that a guy named Cox is doing something so divisive. If he really is convinced that video games are the way forwards, his impression on the community is going to live or die by Reactivate.
My daughter is 8. She loves everything transformers. I feel the issue with the toys is they are either for toddlers or 40 year old men. There is no in between.
It really does feel like they can't find a good middle ground, or ya'know have faith in what they used to do. It's all about chasing easy money trends.
I think part of the reason going to movies is dying out is that people have less expendable cash. How much money is there to throw around like there was 5-10 years ago, or even 20-30 years ago. Cost of living is forcing hard choices. Corporations are starting to see the price of their actions.
Let’s just flat say it: Hasbro is having major problems since they made the decision of putting that Chris Microsoft dude as their CEO. The guy knows nothing about toys nor the toy industry. He’s all about video games. His business plan/model used for Microsoft doesn’t compute well with Hasbro. They need to replace him asap or he’ll do more damage to Hasbro and furthermore have more people fired. The Chairmen need to wake up and bring someone who really knows the toy industry and how it works. I do agree that today’s new generations spent way too much time on computers/tablets/cell phones and all that technology. That Chris dude underplays and undermines the benefits that toys have on kids. He only wants to plug all of them to an electronic device.
Not that Transformers has had a decent video game since Devastation. It's all kid's stuff now, and it's not even particularly good kid's stuff. These are games meant for four and five year olds.
On the matter of overproducing toys, it is a matter of which toys are being overproduced, the toys/characters that are high demand are always seemingly underproduced but they'll overproduce characters that no one really cares for or that exist merely as troop builders. It makes no sense.
Every freaking time they release a G1 figure it sells within minutes but they keep making ugly figures that don't sell. But they won't give us the fans what we want.... 🤦🏻♂️
Hasbro needs to fire their promotion department more than anything else. Transformers One could have been so much better if it had been promoted correctly.
Transformers isn’t Hasbro’s only Golden Goose , there is also My Little Pony. My Little Pony had a huge fanbase thanks to Friendship is Magic . After Friendship is Magic ended, My Little Pony sort of disappeared.
Can’t say it’s very surprising that it disappeared. Most of the fans that are still around are still basing their love of MLP entirely on Friendship is Magic, and G5 while not horrible felt like it was going back to the G1-3 style of writing, and that’s not what brought in the large fanbase in G4. Fandoms never die, but without new content it could be hard to stay visible.
The way the Transformers franchise has declined in quality, it seems eerily similar to the fate of the Terminator franchise. I think if Transformers One was released after Dark of the Moon, then it might have done better financially. Also, it might have encouraged Hasbro/Paramount to move forward with making future releases animated, instead of live-action. I think that AOE and TLK should have been shelved. A good, animated Transformers film would be a sort of "cleansing of the palate" to help re-establish the brand.
IMO, brand fatigue isn't the reason for these problems. People have been saying for a long time now that the reason why comic book movies are failing is fatigue well,Deadpool and Wolverine just shut that fatigue answer down,if you give fans a good movie with characters they want to see and a good storyline that respects said characters and the source material then people will pay.For me personally and the many Transformers fans I've talked to the Bayverse strayed too far for the source material and instead of the focus being on the Transformers and their conflict it became about the humans and big explosions🤦🏽♂️Prime became the exact thing his brother told him to not become"Don't be one of those Hollywood pretenders, don't go yelling and screaming and pretending you're a tough guy. Be strong enough to be gentle".Movie Prime was always yelling, threatening to kill someone, that's not my Optimus Prime, most of the G1 characters are unrecognizable, the G1 Transformers designs were smooth, beautiful easy to identify, now they are just mangled metal🤦🏽♂️I just recently rewatched the entire G1 series and all the movies and despise the cartoon series being from the 80's,i got movie fun from the cartoon than the movies, now im not saying i didn't enjoy the movies at all, their was a lot i did like but the crude humor has no business being in a Transformers movie and some of the Transformers acting like gangster thugs is just ridiculous and unnecessary,90% of the humans in these movies act like they have ADHD,they just run around babbling nonsense.I know plenty of people love the movies and I'm glad that they do,I'm happy those films introduced a new generation to the Transformers but they aren't the Transformers i grew up with, every major pop culture is in the toilet, Star Wars, Star Trek,Terminator, Dr.Who Indiana Jones,Marvel and DC, none of them are making the movie they should, they all have a long standing fanbase but IMO these studios couldn't give a damn about older fans of these franchises, sure they throw us member berries from time time but the heart and soul of these franchises have been hollowed out IMO,i know everyone will not agree with me and that's understandable, everyone has their own opinions. I hope this is not the end of the Transformer movies, their is so much lore to bring to the table.
@@lesentolp2616 It was going to be a Transformers/G.I. Joe crossover which was set up at the end of Rise of the Beasts. I'm not sure if it's going to ever be released now judging by this recent news.
Hasbro board chair: who can we get to be CEO of this toy company? Hasbro board member: How about this guy who's background is in software. And is used to digital distribution and has not had to deal with physical distribution logistics in years. Hasbro board chair: Brilliant. Absolutely nothing can go wrong with that. He's going to bring video games to our card games. And fix the distribution of our physical products.
For the last 8 or 9 years, my local walmarts and targets never receive any product, and it's always the same 3 or 4 figures that are shelf warming. All of a sudden around Christmas time, BAM, Ross and Ollie's has everything, except for Cosmos haha.
My stores issues is they cycle toys a bit too late. Like right now its 86 Brawn, 86 junkheap (surprisingly) and 86 bumble bee. Legacy Armada Galavatron just to name a few and far behind we are in Idaho. And thats not factoring legacy or TF1.
We had Galvatron on the shelf for over a year here where I live. When Hasbro said there would be plenty of SS86 Prime to go around, I literally had to go to another state to get him. It's ridiculous how certain parts of the country don't get anything but other parts of the country get everything.
In fairness to Target and Walmart I think that blame falls on how hasbro does their toy release waves and cases. If you order a case of deluxe class bots. They’ll get 4 transformers in. One hot seller, one a decent seller, and the the other 2 are both the same and are usually an unpopular bot or a recolor that no one wants. So to a seller it looks like that case of deluxe transformers toys sold like crap.
I guess that Gi-Joe thing at the end of Rise of the beasts will always be a cliffhanger, it's a shame. I'd have liked an idea of what that would've been like.
Don’t make assumptions. There are no official sources saying the Transforners Gi Joe movie was cancelled. For all we know Hasbro could have co-funded the movie already before making this decision.
The marketing for TF ONE was awful! That responsibility rests on Paramount. Why does Hasbro keeps partnering with them? Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, a guy who says there is no source material for Optimus Prime... Why keep them? Transformers is the biggest franchise for Hasbro... They fire John Warden... No cartoon for Legacy... Baldur's Gate did great! They layed off all the team who did it! Power Rangers... A franchise so easy to make money out of.... They blew it! What does all this have in common... Chris Cocks... This guy just want to sell video games! He has no clue about the toy and collectors industry... Why keep him?
Hasbro has always been an “evil” corporation. They had problems coming up with a cool toy so they leased a product line from Japan to sell here in America. Then to sell the toy they already had, they made a story to sell it. They need to go back to the original formula. Take or make a toy that sells really well, and then come up with a story to sell it even better. It worked with transformers and GIjoe, but they haven’t been able to recapture that magic since
Hasbro entrusted a franchise to someone who has no knowledge or love of it, guess what happens? Moreover, Hasbro collaborated with Disney whose reputation is as bad or even worse making so many pegwarmers of toys!
Lorenzo, Michael Bay....all the people who've had the key to the franchise in Hollywood have treated the IP horribly from Day 1. They came close in Bumblebee to turn it around only to mess up again with RotB. By the time they got to TF1, all the good will was squandered.
I think the biggest "out of touch" moment in recent movie memory was Wheeljack in Bumblebee versus ROTB. But it's a trend, it seems... billionaires put in charge of important positions that have no clue what the people want, and they end up killing what they were hired for, or at best, hocking worthless product that ends up flopping. Like you said, intentionally destroying a good thing. As for Ollie's. Up here it's re-releases of Beast Wars that showed up there, nearly all Terrorsaur. Much more of Star Wars and Marvel though.
I saw that in an Ollie’s that just opened in my area, there was an entire shelf of Terrorsaurs as well as a grilled lizard and wolf figures which I forgot the names of
To paraphrase Kup from Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2 - "Hasbro is in total shambles after the CEO hire. Three kids and a dog could do better than Chris Cocks."
It isn't just the movies that influence toy sales, it's the quality of the toys. How many people like buying a figure that feels like cheap plastic and very hollow to the point it feels like it'll break just from holding it and they expect premium price for it to add salt to the injuries. I know we can't expect transformers like the good old G1 days where they were made a good portion of them in a combo of decent plastic and die-cast so they feel sturdy and have a good heft to them but we do deserve more than cheap hollow crap that feels like they don't care about the franchises name.
@@RollsignGallery I remember one video which I think was from Optibotimus going over a Bumblebee transformer from the Bumblebee movie and I remember him straining to say anything good about it and when he finally released his fake positive attitude about the toy, he sort of threw it on the table. Not with much force and I remember the toy literally exploding. It looked like a really bad case of Gold Plastic Syndrome with the way it exploded too.
I don't know why they did not bring out transformers one in the summertime while the kids was still out of school . It's easier for them to just sale the rights to characters and let the studio take the cost of the production of the movie.
Is really sad that we not go to see character not yet Appear in The movie or that character to appear in the movie not really looking what they make to look like
Transformers One would have made bank if they didn't pay the voice actors half the budget. I don't think anyone went because Scarlet was voicing Alita One.
Elita 1 was also the most boring character in the film. Typical "I can beat up all the boys and I'm never wrong" type. Elita always seems to get railroaded into that position since Hasbro noticed to start using her.
I'm not remotely surprised. I'm disappointed, but not surprised. While I did enjoy TF One and ROTB, there is a huge transformers fatigue in the general public. We fans will watch anything that comes out but other people are no longer interested. The box office money spoke. I'm glad they will continue financing games, I hope they make some with good stories. I would love to finally have a Skyrim style RPG where I can build my own Transformers.
Out of all the Transformers movies Paramount released, I find it hard to choose between "Bumblebee" (2018) and "Transformers One" (2024) on which one is the best while a lot of people seemed to love both of those movies and they are both certified fresh on Rotten tomatoes. For me it's a tie
as far as toys on the shelf every time i walk into walmart or target its all these cheap movie toys that dont sell vs all the ones the adults want but cant get. they are leaving so much money on the table
One CEO is not a one-size-fits-all deal. Different companies do need different mentalities in plotting the direction of their brands and their specific type of products. A guy who knows video games might not be a comfortable fit for a decades old company that specializes in action figures and card games. I can totally get pulling back on the film financing. Their last few outings have been poor performers, even with the G.I. Joe brand. Even if Retaliation made money, they followed it up with nothing for eight years, which ended being a stinker of a reboot that's been largely forgotten by now. They rode the Michael Bay train out too far for Transformers, and it hurt the longevity of the brand. Bumblebee may have performed better if it didn't come a year after The Last Knight, perhaps the same could be said for TF One. So, it's both strategy in development and being able to market these as fresh experiences. It might need a breather. Star Trek felt belabored after Next Gen, DS9, Voyager, and Enterprise had flooded the air waves for 18 years. It needed a break and a refreshed vision to try bringing new life into it. Even then, Star Trek Beyond was a great film, but it didn't do great business, maybe because of marketing, maybe a bad taste after Star Trek Into Darkness. Franchises can writhe up and down based on all types of actions and reactions. Regardless, maybe Transformers needs a long break from cinema screens to rebuild excitement. Maybe. Just my perspective.
The Elita-1 deluxe figure will be released in November 2025. Maybe, and mind you, that’s just a thought, if you are a toy company that produces a theatrical movie, to sell your toys, maybe, have the full toy line in stores before the movie hits theatres? Learning about Mr Microsoft CEO reminded me that I have purchased the Transformers Reactivate toys. Great designs, but this video game, that I was looking forward to purchase, doesn’t seem to be happening any time soon. SO, the man in charge, who thinks that video games is the way of the future, doesn’t seem to be able to have one produce. I wonder what’s his annual salary. SkyBound Transformers comic seems to be loved by everyone. A best seller months after months. You would think that someone in charge at Hasbro would take note and try to figure out what people love so much about it and try to translate it to animation, toys, collectibles, a video game maybe… But you would be wrong. I do hope that the Transformers One universe will continue either in a streaming series or a comic book…
You can blame the Michael Bay movies especially, "Revenge of the Fallen" ,"Age of Extinction" and, "The Last Knight". THEN the, "Bumble Bee" intro reinvigorated interest into the franchise but then they go ahead with a weak lay up with that, "Rise of the Beasts" nonsense. How many times are they going to let the fans down with inconsistency and poor character development? They had 7 movies to get it together and dropped the ball 5 out of 7 movies! Transformers 1, 3 and The intro to Bumble bee made a little bit of sense. Now you reset the lore with, "Transformers One" & they thought the public, post pandemic, was going to venture to the movies for possibly more nonsense? Nah bro it doesn't work that way.
Regarding Hasbro's decision to transition from a toy company to a gaming company, this feels eerily similar to Cartoon Network's failed experiment with CN Real. Much like how Cartoon Network alienated its core audience by abandoning its identity as a home for animated content, Hasbro risks alienating its loyal consumers who associate the brand with toys and family-oriented fun. CN Real’s departure from animation led to a sharp decline in ratings and fan backlash, forcing the network to revert to its roots. Similarly, Hasbro could see a long-term backlash as they lose the trust and loyalty of those who know and love them for their iconic toy lines, like Transformers and My Little Pony. Moreover, the gaming industry is already dominated by giants like Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft, leaving little room for a newcomer to establish a strong foothold. History shows that brands that try to completely reinvent themselves, such as New Coke’s infamous attempt to replace its original formula, often end up backtracking after consumer alienation and financial losses. By abandoning their roots, Hasbro would risk losing more than they gain.
Transformers one was a huge breath of fresh air and i really hope they do a sequal for the movie that shows the war for cybertron and then a movie for the fall and escape from cybertron the movie kinda reminded me of the autocracy series and transfomers prime
I have a friend who took her children to see the movie. None of them can be considered Transformers fans, but they all enjoyed the film. She even seemed disappointed that there may not be another, but that's probably due to her daughter's impressions.
The marketing was so bad that even after people are saying its good or even mid, I won't see with my money. It's just not for me with its humor and that's fine, it wasn't made for me. I'm just not going to pay for them for something that's not for me. I'm sad to see the movies die if they actually do, because I want an actually good CGI gritty dark transformers movie set without humans. I know I'm the massive minority so I just stand by and grab old stuff as I can.
This is so sad to me, a lot going on behind this situation! I love Transformers (I always will) and since Rise of the Beasts and Transformers One especially, I wanted more Transformers movies. It feels as though Hasbro’s new future for Transformers media plans are all for nothing!
You got a point they've been fumbling the ball ever since Chris Cox took over. He's a corporate hack that needs to be replaced as ceo. I want to see these movies that they had planned they need to have multiple media sources to encourage the purchase of their products. Games aren't going to last forever but the collector's Market is growing and they need to take advantage of that and give us good media which they're doing with the skybound comics but we need more we Hunger for More
Okay. A few things. First, Chris either needs a reality check or a new job. The money comes from toys. The other stuff is just advertisement. Second, yeah. Sadly the movies are slowly dying. So that’s a factor. Three, the marketing for the movie was garbage. Paramount has been having problems with that for years. Four, this could be a blessing in disguise. Paramount will have to put in a lot of effort to the next movie with a smaller budget. Five, if Hasbro wants to focus on games, then maybe outsource to a good developer and redouble efforts to Reactivate. I’m fine with it being delayed. But we need updates.
I never expected you to reference Duke Nukem at any point Rodimus! 15:22 That being said, I don't think that we can trust the "Leadership" of Chris. Especially considering the state of Microsoft right now. Sure I'm still waiting for a really good Transformer RPG. Along with another shot at a competitive Fighter some point. But Microsoft themselves aside from the Fable series have never really been known for such genres. It's been mainly Shooters and Party stuff. And if Reactivate is still going to be a Warframe Style quasi MMORPG, they better come out soon before the popularity of the genre declines.
"Declining toy sales" if they would supply the ones in demand instead of the crap legacy stuff they'd have plenty of sales. I've not once seen an 86 ultra magnus, springer, swoop, or prime on the shelf.
With the amazing music video for the Transformers anniversary done by Studio Trigger, is it possible that the Japanese studios could help revitalize the franchise? Maybe something like the Universe War, Shattered Glass, or even adapting the Legends comics into animation?
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Transformers One are some of their best films. If you seriously don't know how to market amazing films that are handed to you, you shouldn't been in marketing. Don't scrap everything. Just scrap the marketing team. These companies working with Paramount should hold their marketing and executives accountable.
I still play earth wars and angry birds transformers. I still enjoy them, but I still wish I’d gotten Devestation. It’s no longer available on the console I have.
I think some of the issues is how many different versions of transformers there actually are now. I'm in my late 40s and I'm G1 through and through and the closest thing I've seen in the movies to what I want from a transformers film was the G1 stuff featured in Bumblebee. But that's just me. There's other movie goers that want the beast wars or later incarnations of transformers series made into a movie. There is so much out there that whatever they do they aren't gonna appeal to all the fans.
Something forgotten through all of this is that recently, it was revealed that Hasbro’s president reached out to Josh Cooley about making another movie and other projects. So it’s kinda weird that that just happened for this to come out not too long after. And it makes processing all of this more difficult, because what actually is happening there? It’s confusing
Very informative, thank you for sharing your thoughts. I always wondered if Hasbro took a step back and went back to the roots of the G1 series and give what the fans want. For instance, a lot of fans would love to see an updated 86' transformers movie with all the deleted cut scenes added back. ArtistStan on TH-cam did his thing which looked fantastic. Then imagine if they picked up G1 and continued season 4 with new animated episodes to deep dive into the headmaster/target master lore. Granted Japanese animations did it but was not canon to the U.S cartoons. Maybe a kickstarter project, maybe give it a try as a streaming release. Just some ideas noting it's always about the $$$ and other politics. Great channel here!!!! Thanks.
This was pretty much well known after they sold off Eone to Lionsgate. Going forwards it would be Paramount who fully finances these films as opposed to it being co-partnership.
A Transformers One sequel would do Gangbusters because of Word of Mouth. Some movies come out the gate swinging Some it the sequel that do it. I also don't get the Overstock issue cause I never found Power Princess in the wild or Warbird. Is their and Overstock if you can't find the figures you want?
Also, the Transformers One toys are cheap and they pushed so much of that crap out and it just sits and finally goes on clearance because no one wants those toys. If they pushed the regular harder to find figures to the stores they would sell toys. Good luck trying to get anyone to listen tho cause they know better than the actual consumer. I'm willing to bet if they did a survey, the people would tell them.
7:32 Transformers one was amazing. Everyone wanted to see Megatron before he and Optimus became enemies. I'll admit too. I almost passed this as a kids show. Like the chibi transformers toys they sold to 5 year olds
Just as an aside, I will never set foot in a movie theater again. After 2020, when everything closed, I lost my tolerance for the prices and the talking and the irritation. No movie is worth paying $50-80for one person to see. I can wait a month for streaming, and see the same movie at home in comfort
Half the issue is over saturation of the toys they are trying to sell often overpriced. Crappy product quality , and packaging. Too many side characters left on shelves not enuff legacy characters available for sale, Scalping , low stock on good products , far less shops sell toys now. Also the most of the time movies arent that great so why buy the toy etc etc.
They got it right with the comics from Skybound, though. Straight G1 vibe with original stories. They need to make an animated RE G1, like X-Men did...
I don’t see this as a sign of saying, “We’re done making Transformers movies”, it just means that Hasbro’s no longer involved with the productions of Transformers movies, or any movie based on them. Instead, they’re just going to license them for future movie adaptations similar to how they did for the Activision developed Transformers games. It should also be noted we still have another Transformers movie in the works, just not the one you expected. Although Transformers One became number one on Paramount+ and other digital services, as well as being nominated at the Oscars. it still doesn’t help the fact that it underperformed at the box office. The next Transformers movie under Paramount had been announced already, but it’s gonna be a crossover between it and GI Joe, as it’s a sequel to Rise of the Beasts. After that, the future for Transformers movies is unclear. While Paramount owns the rights to the Transformers movies they’ve made, they don’t actually own the exclusive film rights to the series. This means, that any other studio could release their own Transformers movie, and not Paramount, which would be a good thing to all those guys who believed TFOne bombed because of poor marketing (I don’t believe it flopped because of poor marketing, so it’s not my problem). The downside to this is that, since Paramount owns the Transformers movies they’ve produced, any chance of a different movie studio to release a sequel to TFOne is unlikely.
I think that they need to keep all IPs released as close to 84 animation as possible. Because relying on new kids and new story... is just going to be disastrous.
I'm not entirely either surprised or hurt by this, honestly. Outside the first Bayverse films (except THE LAST KNIGHT), Transformers, as a brand, has never left a big impression on moviegoers after the failure of the 86 movie, and, after the final installment of the Bayverse, the movies outside it did less than expected. Hasbro needs to think about keeping their brands afloat right now, since the movies have not been successful at all, and their cartoons are forgotten about.
Wrong people in charge of an intellectual property is a death sentence for a brand. Wrong person in charge of transformers, wrong people in charge of making the movies, wrong people making the television shows, wrong people in charge of marketing, wrong people making the comics. All these things add up in terms of financial failure.
This is a real shame that we may not be getting a Transformers One sequel since this movie was absolutely fantastic. We may get a sequel to Rise of the Beasts due to that movie making more of a profit, but as for Transformers One, a sequel is pretty moot unless it releases as a streaming movie on Paramount Plus.
skydance is merging with paramount, not buying them out, also, hasbro used to have a video game division but they shut it down i think because it was cheaper to license their IPs out instead, companies don't want to take risks with making new IPs, they would rather stick to what they know sells
I think it's clear Paramount is a big part of the problem. And even if Hasbro won't produce new movies, that doesn't mean they won't license out the IP and let someone else produce it.
Another thing about toys is that they make the same toys over and over again. I am not going to say Bumblebee, but how many uses does the Datsun has used? There are just so many characters for Datsun (Prowl, Smokescreen, Bluestreak) that a person gets before they are done with getting that model. That is one reason why I was trying so hard on the Dinobot part of toys. Dinosaurs sell well in toy markets. That is why even they looked terrible, the core class Dinobots sold, and now the Dinoforce, which is just repaints of the Dinobots, so far is selling. On top of that, when the Dinobots first came out, Jurassic Park hit the theaters around the same time. What Hasbro is doing is not what I call a bad idea of Transformers toys, like the Primes, but they are not bringing out toys that are marketing the young kids.
@@russellknight5288 The book came out in 1990 and the Dinobots toys came out in 1985. Between them, we had Denver the Dinosaur, Dino-riders and Dinosausers. Yes, the Dinobots came out in 85, but they get a lot of attention after Jurassic Park came out.
For the cartoon and movies they need to see what fans want, gen1 was my transformers and I admit I'd love to see a well animated sequel to gen 1 but I know that won't happen. But if they see waht fans want that might help them
We are in the G2 era all over again. They should probably let Japan take over for content for the next show. They seem to be good at getting the stale off of transformers
True, when Beast Machines failed they let Japan take over for a while for the 2001 RID and Unicron Trilogy shows and it kept the franchise afloat until the Bay Movies success.
Hasbro is dumb as rocks. One was by far the best product since the original movie and they dropped the ball on marketing huge! They also haven’t released a decent video game in over a decade now after having a couple of real good ones. So in short…maybe the product will improve without them!
Literally at this point the only way we'll get Transformers films of any of Hasbros Ips if a studio who actually cares about the franchises and Fans that support them and grew up with them I really do agree with alot of people if not Paramount itself I honestly would say Universal especially since the are the ones responsible for giving us Transformers The Ride.
Marketing for Transformers 1 sucked. The way it was portrayed people were expecting this goofy Nickelodeon garbage which is what I thought it was going to be. And I'm happy to say it's anything but there's a serious story there it was a great movie it was just poorly marketed
Understandable as the movies haven't really worked for them other than the early Bayformers which was a decade ago now. Battleship and D&D flopped. G.I Joe never caught on after three attempts and even Transformers has underperformed or flopped in the last ten years. Shame they don't focus on making good quality cartoons again to advertise their toys.
The marketing for Transformers One was abysmal
agreed
For real. I had no desire to see it based on the trailers. I only saw it cuz i heard good things from fans that saw it themselves.
Completely agree the trailers were horrible they looked kidy and stupid and Goofy and then I finally watched it cuz my friend recommended and I loved it
@Raiderhater-m7k same
It was a pretty mediocre, paint-by-numbers film for that matter. The humor was Marvel-esque, the story was entirely predictable from start to finish, the action scenes were overblown and underwhelming, and the emotional impact was practically non-existent.

One of the most underrated comments in this section….Hasbro, depicted as the tyrannical, power hungry, maniacal, megalomaniac Megatron….🤌🏾🤌🏾🤌🏾
The bad advertisement is what made it not make money. I thought it was goofy cartoon they were making but it was way more serious and gave us the Cybertron we deserved
I gotta be honest, I don’t think advertising the serious side of the movie would have changed anything. I think audiences are just done with transformers
Nah fans spoiled the movie before release😂
Why would a toy company hire a dude who doesn’t wanna sell toys?
🎯
facts bro like who said "ya lets hire this guy who can care less about toys at a toy company" like bro this feels like what microsoft did to minecraft when they bought it
I don’t know 🤷 why ? Hasbro should’ve hired someone else who has knowledge of the world of toys , like promote John Warden as CEO not fire him.
@@omegamaximus1727 facts and wasn't he like Brian Goldner "2nd in command"
Yes John Warden actually cares about the toy brand.
I feel like we’re still see Transformers movies but I think Paramount will do better marketing now because if it fails it’s on them
Yes it was so Paramount will not be backed up by Hasbro anymore it was their full responsibility right now
Here's hoping. Paramount has effed up marketing for Star Trek many times. We'll see.
Blamed the Marking Team and they Should be Fired
Yep paramount's marketing team pretty much screwed over TFone It's completely understandable why Hasbro wouldn't wanna finance the movies anymore.
Going to the theaters is really expensive now. The economy isn’t good. Movies come out on streaming and digital in 1 month nowadays. It’s not just the marketing failing TF One.
The marketing team had nothing to do with this. Hasbros sold off Eone to Lionsgate leaving Paramount to fully finance these films.
5:00 this is an outright lie I’m sorry. Cinema as a whole has not been in decline since 2016.
Physical media is going bye bye.
unfortunately as has been stated by many in the industry, the death of the dvd market has really killed that
Or Into the spiderverse cause that movie dodn't do that good box office wise at first either but then got the praise and recognition it deserved.
The fact Transformers One is still getting praise from fan and critic alike (IGN excluded of course), to me, has the reeking scent of sabotage.
Yeah! Marketing sabotage like they wanted it to fail and they succeeded!
Vince still wants to do Bayformers. I blame him.

@@stingrey1571 good point.
I am 34... I feel called out.
Nah dude there is plenty of transformers that are not the G1 and little kids, what are you talking about out 🤦🏻♂️
It really does feel like they can't find a good middle ground, or ya'know have faith in what they used to do. It's all about chasing easy money trends.
Problem is that no one wants those gimmicky toddler stuff, some of those from the ROTB line were still shelfwarming until quite recently.
I think part of the reason going to movies is dying out is that people have less expendable cash. How much money is there to throw around like there was 5-10 years ago, or even 20-30 years ago. Cost of living is forcing hard choices. Corporations are starting to see the price of their actions.
This really hit hard and i was like lost for words to say about this.
Cox Coxs it up.
Hasbro, making good financial decisions with the Transformers brand since 1987!
Agreed I Blame the people who make a Marking team should be Fired
I remember that time when they killed Optimus Prime in that movie.
100% sarcasm is truth
On the matter of overproducing toys, it is a matter of which toys are being overproduced, the toys/characters that are high demand are always seemingly underproduced but they'll overproduce characters that no one really cares for or that exist merely as troop builders. It makes no sense.
Every freaking time they release a G1 figure it sells within minutes but they keep making ugly figures that don't sell. But they won't give us the fans what we want.... 🤦🏻♂️
Hasbro needs to fire their promotion department more than anything else. Transformers One could have been so much better if it had been promoted correctly.
that's on paramount.
what they could have done themselves would be improving the main toyline, ffs they are reusing toys from RiD 2.0.
Transformers isn’t Hasbro’s only Golden Goose , there is also My Little Pony. My Little Pony had a huge fanbase thanks to Friendship is Magic . After Friendship is Magic ended, My Little Pony sort of disappeared.
Isn't GI Joe a part of Hasbro. Maybe that should return, too...
Yes G.I.Joe is part of Hasbro , the problem is that not many people are into G.I.Joe , just the hardcore fans.
@omegamaximus1727 With the success of the recent comic, GI JOE might be a rising franchise... 🤷
The G.I.Joe comics from what have heard are great .

It depends if Hasbro is under contract to make say 10 movies then if they don’t make them then that is beech of contract and they can be sued.
If sonic movie 3 was successful, paramount would give hasbro chance?
I hope it gets canceled, rotb was mediocre at best , that gi joe crossover for sure is going to be a flop. No one has asked for this movie

Have faith my friend
They lose $ on their portion of financing. Paramount will have to find financing elsewhere and Hasbro will collect a check on any back end.
I blame Lorenzo and Chris cox 😠
Lorenzo, Michael Bay....all the people who've had the key to the franchise in Hollywood have treated the IP horribly from Day 1. They came close in Bumblebee to turn it around only to mess up again with RotB. By the time they got to TF1, all the good will was squandered.
If we don’t get any more sequels to TFOne, I think a tie-in series should be the way to go. I don’t want this continuity to end so soon!
Hasbro is about to reach Death's door.
Maybe in the long run, but as it is now not anywhere near that level of trouble.
Non-sense. The toyline always does well, regardless. It doesn't need movies to be successful. Films are merely an "extra".
This... right here! I've seen that too. They all look cheap now and have been for at least the last decade.
I am honestly scared about this annoucement
Maybe it’s time for Transformers to be put to rest and come back in a few years or two.
Thank you for bringing us this news and breaking down this new development with facts and your great take from a fan's perspective.
as far as toys on the shelf every time i walk into walmart or target its all these cheap movie toys that dont sell vs all the ones the adults want but cant get. they are leaving so much money on the table
They would do a lot to get rid of the childish figures.
the thing is: hasbro forgot the transformers media is a giant advertising campaign
I was extremely busy and when I had time to see the movie the time slot sucked. The movie was only being shown in the morning time.
Now I’m worry for Transformers franchise
People are lazy. Take that as rule.
Less and less insentive to go out when some like myself built a home theatre.
Here is another contributing factor why kids aren’t buying hasbro toys it’s inflation that is the other factor
Yeah. I talked about that in a previous video and had a bunch of people say "you don't know what you're talking about"
The marketing was so bad that even after people are saying its good or even mid, I won't see with my money.
Sad truth is we don’t always get what we want.
Transformers one is definitely a gem!
17.23. - Hazbin hotel has 1000's of views. A good example of youtube only animated shows. Get enough people talking about it and it would work.
Hurts my soul, man. What a bad spiral both Hasbro and customers have found themselves in.
You're certainly not alone. They really did train the public to wait until it comes out on streaming or buy the physical copy.
We fans is asking for an Epic G1 Movies and what they are giving us a garbage mess..
Hasbro should have stuck to making toys instead of making movies. And here we are.
They’re more than toys
This is a real shame that we may not be getting a Transformers One sequel since this movie was absolutely fantastic. We may get a sequel to Rise of the Beasts due to that movie making more of a profit, but as for Transformers One, a sequel is pretty moot unless it releases as a streaming movie on Paramount Plus.

skydance is merging with paramount, not buying them out, also, hasbro used to have a video game division but they shut it down i think because it was cheaper to license their IPs out instead, companies don't want to take risks with making new IPs, they would rather stick to what they know sells
Yogurth;"Merchandising(2x)where the Real Money from the movie made"! Show paramount And Hasbro, that their wrong.
Structure of earnings for legacy corporations is still evolving in the post-COVID era.
That's an understatement.
Wtf? Dinobots were introduced in '84. Jurassic Park was '93. I hardly call 9 years "around the same time"...
I'd love to see some Transformers sitting around the Ark playing DnD.
This is a mixed bag
It's sad and terrible. But things with companies are bad all over. 😢
This is just sad.
TV sequel for TF One then?
We can still get a full on sequel without them
@ I know
Marketing for Transformers 1 sucked. The way it was portrayed people were expecting this goofy Nickelodeon garbage which is what I thought it was going to be. And I'm happy to say it's anything but there's a serious story there it was a great movie it was just poorly marketed
This is a huge Hasbro L. And bro is speaking to crickets at 2:19, the Transformers franchise was BUILT off the back of toys
Just as far as Transformers One is concerned, the goofy trailers killed it. I don’t think it’s anymore complicated than that.
