"I am ranked 14th and I am ok with that" - Imaging being ranked 14th in a field with a world record holder and the previous olympic podium and being "ok". Imagine being able to just fathom that. Honestly unreal mental fortitude to be neither terrified or ego'd up beyond belief
Yay! Go Phily! I met a woman on my long run this morning who told me her uncle who lived in London, on his 60th birthday told everyone he was going to run the London Marathon not ever having run a race in his life. He lived to 94 years!
Such a great video Philly. As someone who also grew up watching the LM, who also finished 100th in the Inter Counties as a junior, has ran London 6 times and has made it an annual event with my daughters, this hit soooo many chords with me! Go get it. Obviously, I'll be there cheering you on ❤
Found your comment about running alone interesting - I'm mostly an ultra runner and generally do quite low key events so after the first hour or so you're typically solo for the rest of the race! Plus no crowds so you only really see people at aid stations or when you come across bemused looking hikers. Always find when I run with other people around I go too fast and blow up!
Best marathon in the world, ran it many times off the fast good for age start line. You will love the atmosphere the whole way around. I look forward to watching your training and seeing you on the TV.
woooohooo, so excited to cheer for you! I also got inspired to run marathons by my dad and I ran my first one this year ten years after he ran the same race - the ottawa marathon- and my dad sweetly jumped in when I had stepped in a pothole and needed some support for the last few K. Marathons are so special and extra special with people you love! as an aside, the blonde mini bob is so so so cute
The clip from London marathon 1996!!! My dad ran it that year, just a couple of weeks after I was born. He's my inspiration to run it one day. So excited for you Phily!!!!
Scary, challenging and exciting. You've got to be in it to win it as they say and you have to risk it.. for a chocolate biscuit. London Marathon is the perfect race for you to make the best of yourself and I can't wait to see what happens. Whoop-Whoop!!
Did my first marathon last Sunday in Ribeirao Preto (Sao Paulo). From km 34-36 I had nobody in front of me and nobody behind. Just a never ending road and red cones. I had never felt that alone before ever.
CONGRATS!!!!!!! Hope it is levels up from Berlin for you 😀...….the Barkley could still be a possibility someday though? Maybe? Perhaps? Small Chance? 😛
Am I the only one that had to rewind a couple times to look for Philly on that start list for the London Marathon. 😂 I was like, ohhhhh Phillipa Bowden. 👍🏽
Yaaaaaaayyy I'm travelling from glasgow as I've done the last 2 years too spectate at the marathon.. 🎉🎉🎉I will make sure I get a pic of you 600m from the finish I stand there with friends and Scottish flags over the barrier... 🏴🏴🏴🏴Lettttsss gooooo phiiiilllllyyyy!!!.. 😀x
From someone who used to live in a London borough, the Engliah counties I think would all get a small team of 5/6 per age group, so would Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland (always really fast people) but then each london borough also got a team (me and other people who had got in through a trials race - some were very, very fast and others would scrape in like me)!
LETS GO PHILLY! Cleared the calendar to watch on TV! Go smash it!
Get the popcorn ready 🍿
I’ll be cheering ridiculously loudly at the 10km mark in Greenwich! GO ON PHILY!!
I’ll keep an eye out for yah

Don't get injured, remember this every single session of your Training

How long does it take for the benefits of altitude training to wear off once you return to normal altitude?
Here for the epic thumbnail
Thank you!
I am slightly faster than Philly and I am fully intending on keeping it that way...
Speaking as a dad of two boys, your dad must be so proud of you 🥹
Yaaaaaaayyy I'm travelling from glasgow as I've done the last 2 years too spectate at the marathon.. 🎉🎉🎉I will make sure I get a pic of you 600m from the finish I stand there with friends and Scottish flags over the barrier... 🏴🏴🏴🏴Lettttsss gooooo phiiiilllllyyyy!!!.. 😀x

In Flagstaff do you have an Airbnb or something, are you in someone’s house that you know, or do you have a house there?
Do the NY Marathon! I'm gonna be there myself.

The thought of running alone feels gross to you ??? I run mountain trails alone and never felt nauseous nor disgusted from being on my own ........
Oh no. Philly I really liked you until you used a dry scoop to eyeball half a cup of milk ☹️🥲
COM ON PHILY, Believe, most of all enjoy . You are elite, you belong.
Im running London as well!!! Middlewood way long runs inbound 😂
