    We developed the same problem at one year/30,000 miles and went for the $450 lithium 12 V battery. Have not had a reoccurrence of the problem and we’re now at about 50,000 miles. The only other thing we have had to do is replace the tires so this car has been, very cheap to operate and we love it. 3:35

    Great video Blade! I’m really surprised that KIA has not come up with a software update to fix this. My 2018 Tesla Model 3 always monitors its own 12 volt lead acid battery. I know because I put a battery monitor on it that records the battery voltage every so often.

      Me too it seems the kia only charges the battery while on a generally too long of a timer and if your battery is going bad in the winter your out of luck!

    Thank you very much for this timely video. I bought a used 2022 EV6 three months ago with 16K miles, just over 20k miles currently, and got stranded at the transfer station 2 weeks ago. Got a jump from a local garage and the car was dead a day later. Same driver towed it to the dealership and the 12volt battery was quickly replaced under warranty. Two days ago the amber dashboard light came on showing the car is charging the BRAND NEW battery!! I will be parking my car in Utility mode and turning off the app notifications. And contacting Kia to voice my opinion...😟 This is an unacceptable situation.

      So so sorry to hear that, the 12-volt system should be recalled altogether as it's such a bad and common problem with the owners. I will never buy kia or hyundai again! They are ruining their reputation with the way they are handling the situation, the ev6 could have been such a good car to recommend!

      You're lucky they replaced the battery. My battery needs to be jumped every single day yet they refuse to replace it. They say it's still passing some stupid test.

    • @lanternhillmorgans3330
      @lanternhillmorgans3330 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@phuongdhI know I'm lucky and have learned there are ways to work around further issues such as not using the app to check on the car regularly. I also unplug the cellphone charger whenever I park the car. I do have to wonder why you put up with jumping the car every day...if the dealership hadn't replaced the battery my next step was to replace it myself.

      @lanternhillmorgans3330 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@batteryblade It is definitely an issue as I have learned from other sources, too. It might be partly the way the 12 volt battery is constructed and the way it works in an EV rather than an ICE. If it happens again I'll look into a different type of battery. Thanks for your reply and your helpful video!

    Thanks Blade! the Kia is a nice car - but all it takes is one bad thing. The jump pack and utility mode ar work arounds - but doing that everyday is going to be a ral pain.

    The problem has been confirmed to be a faulty ICCU (Integrated Charging Control Unit) in certain EV6's. There is a recall in effect for this problem. Only some EV6's are affected. The dealership will replace the ICCU or the ICCU fuse free of charge (no pun intended).

    After my brand new '22 Mazda had electrical probs after only 2-3 weeks from new, I bought an LFP battery and didn't look back. Now have traded it in for an EV6, I just ordered another LFP battery for it, knowing that most manufacturers are choosing to use cheap 12v batteries as part of cost savings. Not sure why the video poster just didn't get another battery for $150 or less instead of $260 from the dealer.

    • @batteryblade

      I didn't get a new battery from the dealer I installed it myself I should have made that more clear but honestly missed big time by not filming that and including it as part of the video!

    Great car, but rubbish battery. Unfortunately here in England we also have an abysmal Kia dealership network; you can't get an answer on the phone, you drive to the dealers, as I did yesterday and the soonest they can look at my car is four weeks. One dealer said the battery is only warranted for a year, another said two years, they really don't know what they're doing, and don't appear to care. I won't buy another Kia.

    • @batteryblade
      @batteryblade  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I felt the same way that it ruined my trust in kia that they could handle a simple issue so poorly! I replaced the battery out of pocket and it seems to be fine now.

  • @AMan-he9sz
    @AMan-he9sz 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Kia equips their cars with 2 year batteries, and they always have - It's not a great battery and won't last long. Do you have all your updates? My Kia EV6 has the same lackluster battery - but it does condition the 12 volt battery when it needs to, and the battery doesn't die. When the yellow light on the dash is lit, I know this is what is happening. I leave notifications on, and my battery is good.

    • @batteryblade
      @batteryblade  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah your kia's battery is still good enough to last in between when the car charges it, but once the voltage gets too low the cars bms almost gives up on charging it its extremely strange! Some of the bms software issues admittedly may be fixable if I took it to a dealership, but that seems silly when the car is capable of ota software updates!

    • @AMan-he9sz
      @AMan-he9sz 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Earlier examples of the EV6 can experience the issues you describe - and may not be fixable by OTA update. IMO, it is a worthwhile endeavor to take the car to a KIA dealer to have this fixed. Sorry you've had to experience this - but I do believe it is entirely fixable, battery replacement notwithstanding. @@batteryblade

    Possibly left a light or fan something on or an upgrade turned something on The 12 volt battery operates the dash, fan, lights etc If you don’t drive the ev6 for 10 days or so the 12 volt battery can go flat

    Are you going to replace 12v battery every 2 years? ‘Do not replace the battery via dealership’ is a wrong advice as you encourage the irresponsible behaviour from KIA and KIA dealership. They have to recall EV6s. This is not your problem but theirs!
