  • Hi! I’m Christine 🙋🏼‍♀️ After working for many years in sales and business ownership, I felt major burnout 😵‍💫 I sold my houses, extra cars, and most of my belongings. Now I'm happier than ever having very few material things. I travel living out of my vehicle. In 2022 my old and blind best friend, Chase the Dog, joined me on my travels 🐶 We roam the USA looking for adventure, food, and fun! I'm never sure what the future holds. Join the adventure and find out with me! 🤩
    Learn how I make delicious French press coffee while on the road. This is a very simple setup that works for camping too!

    Just a suggestion, when making coffee in the French press, any longer then 4 minutes releases the acids from the grounds and makes the coffee bitter. I learned also to add raw honey to both sweeten it and add nutrients to my coffee, it also mellows it out and makes it taste smooth. Give it a try and see if you like it, change is good. 😃 Stay safe and take care.

    So organized and efficient ...not only presetting the coffee gig...but right down to ensuring an eastern perspective and eyes open a half hour prior to the event... 😃

    I go super lazy for my coffee, both folgers and maxwell house have single brew bags, I prefer folgers. At home I fill my cup with water and dunk the brew bag then 3minutes in the nuke and its ready to kick start my system. The used bag goes in a 2lb peanut butter jar of water with several other used bags to make cold brew for iced coffee... On the road I either heat up some cold brew or make a fresh cup in my light weight imusa cup.. I have WAY to many cooking implements in both my rigs, multiple types of stoves, pots cast iron pans, griddles, cups. I use the pint imusa cup a LOT, it heats quick, will hold a pack of ramen or a couple scrambled eggs (Ive actually cooked scrambled eggs in it over 2 tea candles! I find a lot of vanners myself included arent fastidious about cleaning after cooking

      Wow...I never thought to use tea candles to cook but that's a good idea!

    Having the butane stove on in your van to make coffee does not require additional ventilation but its always good keep moisture out you setup. I wouldn't sleep with it on either. Just a fyi.

    Very nice, if you like French Press! I like drip coffee better, so got a 12V plug in 4 cup coffee pot. Brew while driving, or stopped if you have the juice. Only drawback is the carafe is glass - will be looking for a steel carafe instead. BTW raspberry plants love coffee grounds!

      I do love drip coffee too! 🤩 I didn't know that about raspberry plants! Thanks for the tips! 😃🙏🏼

      @@ChristineMeachum You're so welcome! Wish I'd had the chance to start with the van tripping at your age - will appreciate it all the more when I do! You're an inspiration.

      Instead of a coffee pot I use a 12v kettle that can make up to 1 Liter of hot water. Then I make pour over coffee. I find it easier to clean up by just putting the grounds in a small trash bag by just picking up the filter from the cone. When I’m finished I pour the rest of the hot water into a thermos for later uses.

    I enjoy your videos, love coffee ☕ too & it's a AM 🔆 must! I'm planning a few SUV 🚌 camping trips in future & was wondering how long a butan canister lasts you. I plan to use one about the same way. Do you also keep a few extra ones on hand? Thanks!

    • @ChristineMeachum
      @ChristineMeachum  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi 👋 Thanks for watching! As a very rough average I would say a butane can lasts me about 15 meals or times boiling water. Yes, I always keep a spare can on hand. I do not want to be in a scenario where I don’t have fuel to make my morning coffee 🤣

    Hey Christine! This video was suggested today so I watched it. I've only been following from the mor recent ones in the car. Why did you decide to get away from the van to the car? Just curious.
