That was a pleasure to watch sir! Never have I seen anyone play like that before! I used to get my ass handed to me on a plate EVERY TIME I played and could never get pass the third boss haha. You clearly are an expert and must have played this hundreds of times, well done.
What’s bad is when you get those speed ups and then die. After playing Delta and Final with the speed select, it’s hard to get used to starting slow in these older games.
Ever notice how beautifully detailed the first two to three levels in these games are. Then you get to the later stages and it looks as if the developers got lazy.
Not that lazy... Stage 5 is pretty inventive with it's moving walls. Stage 6 is a bit dull compared to the rest but I definitely wouldn't say it's lazy.
i think this game is supposed to run at 55 fps (on its original arcade monitor) since the screen refresh rate is 55 hz. This is due to the rather high vertical resolution of the game for which the monitor cannot handle 60 hz.
R-Type II Longplay (Arcade) [60 FPS]: Blast the Bydo Empire back to the Stone Age in this classic shmup from Irem! Read the video description for my review!
The final explosion is really nicely done, but I guess that's to be expected of the guys that made In the Hunt and Metal Slug :D I also like how the ships that were held by the final boss escaped on the second loop, but are destroyed in the explosion on the first loop. Anyone know why only three of the four survived? Is there a way to save them all?
thought this looked fishy frOm the start. too many speedups, erratic movements, unnecessary and amateurish maneuvers, and then right at 9:48, you blatantly fly through a laser from the boss. direct hit. so tHat confirms my suspicions tHat this is a TAS. for anyone wanting to see sOme legitimate r-type II 2-ALL no-miss runs, here ya gO: japan version: th-cam.com/video/cfh8cLmFW5Q/w-d-xo.html world versiOn: th-cam.com/video/mr3oygM_SaU/w-d-xo.html
I know this is old. How did 2nd boss die? Didnt seem you hit its bulb with your charged shot and it just died. It keeps killing me and I put several charged shots on its bulb.
It's not easy to see, but if you look closely, it's the centre rail beam from the 3-way shot that gets the kill. It hits the bulb, but there's insufficient health on the boss to absorb the beam, so it passed through, rather than ricocheting 🙂
I had to go back to this video just to prove I wasn't crazy, in the steam rerelease of these games in level 2 the electric bullets pass through your turret even though in the original arcade they don't. wtf
No, it's not a bug - the player ship sprite only registers a collision on a very specific part of the ship (near the blue cockpit); it's OK for other parts of the ship to touch enemies because it doesn't count as a collision :)
The most brutal shooter of the 80'

Well done mate!
R-Type II is a very difficult game and you beat it like a boss.
Really a great game and hard for sure... but "beat like a boss with invincible hack on lol "
I remeber the hitbox for the ship being exraordinarily unforgiving in the arcade and even on MAME. You getting all those speed ups made me twitchy.

Being consistent is not being lazy. Also, Stage 4 has a unique and detailed design imho.
Lazy? Do you have any idea how much efforts were put to develop even tiny fracture of the game.
Inoubliable jeu d'arcade.Génial.

I came to this Channel bc I have a Problem with the Boss of Stage 2 😊😊. Maybe I get a solution here 😊👍👍
Ace mate, 100% ace
The most difficult game ever.
Нет это не самая сложная аркадная и не самая сложная игра в мире есть ещё игры которые сложнее R-Type II
Why does everyone I've seen play this hate the circle beams?
What's with those other ships attached to the final boss?
they are captive ships. i think like the r-9

i had R-type 2 on my nintendo 64 i love it but it was very difficult to finish
Irem-ember (heh) playing the game boy version of this way back when, its pretty faithful to the original in a way huh
Freakin wow man I doubt even the most intelligent ai computer can do better. Humans rule that's for damn sure

R-Type II Longplay (Arcade) [60 FPS]
what are you emulating on?
Is it just me, or is this game harder than R-Type 3?
Much harder
no way...
1:01 weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Why do those other 3 R9s blow up the first time you complete the game, but survive the second time?
I believe at least 1 has to survive the boss battle for them to survive. If they all die against the boss none of the make it.
Could be wrong though.

It looks like
Just like super r type one
I finished this game. This is way harder compared to Gradius III
Let me guess the reason why Im destroying the alien core is because they about to attack earth?
Why the aliens that come at your back in the tunnel before the final boss don´t kill you? It´s a bug? They run almost over you!

ah thank you for the explanation!
Man I can't beat this fucking stage 3 boss for nun I need some help
