    Lots of comments bitching about high stirrups, but I just see jumper flatwork at its best.

    • @idk_8733
      @idk_8733 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You will get there! Trust me it took me a month or two to get my diagonal and my balance down in the trot. I bet u will one day become an amazing rider (not that u aren’t right now)

    • @Ash-ii8fp
      @Ash-ii8fp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Me too! Though I guess this is a bit late now 😅 Especially since this last lesson I got put on a mare who was really hard for me to keep going since I haven’t had much experience and haven’t really built much muscle yet :) The horse I was riding before was super sweet and he would just keep going :)But yes hopefully with practice and hard work I can get better!

    what do you mean by "keeping a strong leg"?

    • @lucy.f3r616
      @lucy.f3r616 7 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      I think its keeping it heavy & close to the horse, not flapping around like some riders in a canter

  • @callmecharlottex

    Might be a bit off topic but can you tell me how to get your weight down into your heels and keep them that way without pushing the heel down? I think a good exercise is standing up in the saddle/stirrups which my instructors have been training me to do a lot lately but I really wanna know how to do it naturally lol

    • @monicabarnhart9821
      @monicabarnhart9821 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Working a lot of no stirrups helped me a lot it forces your leg into the correct spot on the body and makes you really rely more on keeping your heels deep to keep you stable, rather than allowing yourself you rely on the ball of your foot on the stirrup. It takes a while but between standing in stirrups, doing lots of heel and ankle stretches, and working lots of no stirrups really helps.

    • @callmecharlottex
      @callmecharlottex 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@monicabarnhart9821 I've only done no stirrups once so far and even then my toes stick out lol

    • @monicabarnhart9821
      @monicabarnhart9821 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@callmecharlottex that does happen a little it takes a lot of time doing it, and when you do it try to focus on digging your heals down a good mental image is to think like you're wearing stilletos and you're trying to poke a hole with the heel as deep as you can in the sand. Or toes up is one I've hears works for some people. Either way those are just a few I've found work in teaching/learning it.

    • @kristinarivera4268
      @kristinarivera4268 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wiggle your toes in your boots to help keep your feet secure in the stirrups and hold your weight in your heels

    • @ericaandwestie
      @ericaandwestie ปีที่แล้ว

      Naturally my trainer say that we like practicing no stirrups loads because when you have your stirrups back it will become easier to keep them down naturally, what I do is keep my eyes in front and focus on positive position and staying calm , sitting trot helps somtimes aswell, as a like 2 months in pony club I’ve learned many things.

      @lucysmith8020 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Pony Club is for everyone interested and within their age range, Level doesn't matter as long as you are willing to give it a go. I will say if you are typically behind the level of those your age you may be put into a younger age and the other way around if you are above the average for your age. Also never worry about being too much of a beginner cause everyone was at that stage at one point. (Sorry about a late comment)

  • @enlighteneduk
    @enlighteneduk 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Just why a jumping saddle and jumping length stirrups for a flat work demo? She's no option but to rise too high, and shes 'polishing the saddle in canter' hence the need for her hands to saw forwards and back to avoid catching him in the mouth. 🙈

      I'd like to believe he is one of 3 types of breeds however I am not a professional but from what characteristics I've seen, I'd guess Hanoverian, Oldenburg or Holsteiner. Holsteiner is probably my best bet, but again I'm not a professional but it's a guess : )

      When you trot you rise up and down. Instead of rising up and down you sit down in your saddle and lean back, bring your inside leg back and squeeze or kick

    "the lower leg is very secure" ..... she's kicking every stride tho. This is very unhelpful on a green horse

    • @peapea412
      @peapea412 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      true. she just needs to hug with her leg so her lower leg isn't swinging as much! Holding in my opinion helps keep them forward and going without your leg swinging and probably accidentally kicking them in the process.

  • @willowmayxx126
    @willowmayxx126 6 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    Why are you stirrups so short !!! And you should have relaxed feet and heels they shouldn't be forced down. And the horse is really stiff they need to losen him up ( lung e.c.t ) to show him that he doesn't need to be tense and that he can be relaxed and doesn't need to be so alert . also dressage why you in a jp saddle maybe a gp as he is green xxx other than sat great horse and rider
