    About DIY Danie:
    Some of the wisest words I’ve ever heard came from a fictional children's television show where a spontaneous and courageous teacher named Mrs. Frizzle preached the motto- TAKE CHANCES, GET MESSY, MAKE MISTAKES. These are six words I’ve carried with me my whole life. To be creative, you must be willing to try new ideas, take risks and boldly go where no creative soul has gone before! You might mess up, but that’s okay because you most likely pushed yourself to new ideas, new ways of thinking and learned a little something along the way! Welcome to my channel: DIY Danie, a place made for all the creative junkies, DIY warriors, home decor inspirers and interior decorating seekers like me, who need a place to feel inspired and motivated to try new ideas in their home!

    I’ve been a mostly silent subscriber for a while but I just had to tell you; you are one of my absolute favorite channels on TH-cam and I love every single video you post!!! Not only is your editing awesome, but your knowledge and eloquence while also still feeling comfortable enough to be goofy and 100% you really inspires me. So do your design ideas!!! Some of them just blow me away with the execution and/or creativity if the idea. I just love you and wanted to let you know! Keep up the amazing work and remember, YOU are the only one you need to please in life. Choosing to love and please others is a beautiful thing but don’t forget who matters most in the trajectory of your journey, you. ❤️

    Good job on the doors Danie 🙌🏻
    I’d love to see a brass end cap on the top and bottom of the door handles - think that would finish them off and elevate them so much 🤩

    As you clearly say, "You need to use the room to get a feel as to what you want it to work at'. And the wood doors definitely bring in the Warmth and Cozy feel. The white was more of the beachy vibe. Clean, Crisp and Open feel. Definitely the wood tone makes the room.. Beautifully done 👍✌️. Thanks for sharing.

    WOW literally perfect. I actually really like the color variation especially when the light hits differently. I think that’s why i like wood so much it’s never “perfect” it’s not meant to be the same they’re all different pieces and come from a different tree kind of thing. It shows life in every piece. i bet night will be so relaxing and just chefs kiss. Always team wood here. 🖤🖤

    polyurethane stain is supposed to be applied with a brush and not with a cloth. You are not supposed to scrub it away. In general, you apply it like clear polyurethane. Great makeover. Wabi sabi chic. Your style has evolved this past year and your skills too. :)

    • @ashleycapers3916
      @ashleycapers3916 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is what I was thinking as she was doing it. Since you generally don’t wipe polyurethane away. And it was a 2-in-1. I was like hmmmm. Glad to know🙏🏽

    The wood is just so next level! The white was more college/new first living space. I would say the idea of the cane would’ve softened the overall look making it a good in between of masculine and feminine but I still love how it turned out

    What I LOVE about this DIY is that you can change the border around the doors and handles to fit your aesthetic. Like going from arches to shaker, or leaving the border off entirely for a clean, mid-century/modern look. It looks SO good, Danie!

    This is incredible, Danie! I’m perpetually impressed with what you’re able to imagine and then implement.
    If you ever start to feel annoyed w the differences in the color tones, a spray toner could really help even things out. Im sure you know that, and it def looks great as is. Anyway, thanks for what you do! Your content and random edits always make me laugh, and I learn a lot from seeing how your mind works! 🙏🏼✌🏼🫡

    Where you imagined caning on the doors, I was picturing burlap... However, what you lost in texture (aside from the arches, wrapped pulls and varying grain), I think you made up for in light reflection. This is especially useful for a smallish room with dark wood - that you still want to feel bright and light.
    I love that you took the doors to the ceiling. Genius!
    Also, as you gain experience, you make things look easier (even doors!), so Kudos to you :)

    • @joantrotter3005
      @joantrotter3005 ปีที่แล้ว

      A patterned fabric would probably work well there too instead of burlap. I knew someone that had used fabric instead of wallpaper at several places and just got it dry cleaned when he moved. Stapled it and put up trim. It was a blue French design on twill or denim.

    I think this scheme was such a wise move. That said, testing the stain options on one of the doors, imo was a mistake because at least on camera, the door with the undesirable stain option really stands out. Could that testing area have been sanded down? I'm not sure what to make of that aspect. I think it would really bug me and I might redo that whole door. If it doesn't show in real life like it does on camera, then I'm sure it's no big deal. Great idea to make tall doors to incorporate the basket storage!

    • @heathertims836
      @heathertims836 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Agree, it picks up a lot on camera. I can’t imagine she didn’t try to sand it down, but it could have left the door with a weird porosity there. If it’s visible IRL it would drive me nuts and I’d probably remake it

      @@kiarakeeper2154 that's what I was thinking, test the stain on the scrap first... but it's also nice to see when things don't go according to plan, and have that edited out... I like that Danie shows us everything! :)

    • @dogcatfamily2476
      @dogcatfamily2476 ปีที่แล้ว

      Scrap!!! You test on scraps which are same wood. I never buy combo products. Stain and poly combos can never be a perfect mix as there is no control of depth of saturation and poly changes application..
