This is 100% how every Energica owner feels like. Thank you for making these videos. The Energica family is amazing!!! All of the staff owners, CEOs, Engineers, they all deserve props. This is the best brand on the market right now because they care. They are doing this for the right reason! And they have your back when you need them most!!! Two years with my Ego 2020, and I am the happiest customer!!! This brand & family are unbelievable. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Yeah brooo!! I truly believe that customer service is the most important part of a company. They can sell you a great product, but then what? Will they pick up the phone when you call for tech support help?? Energica will :D And the community of riders is the best. I haven't forgotten that I still owe you a left side mirror lol. I'm ordering one now and assembling a goodie bag for ya.
When I first sat the cat on the speedo I instantly thought "Oh! He's speeding again." 😄But then I thought "Wow, the tracking has gotten a lot better in his video editing software," and then I realized "Wait, he made stickers, didn't he?" Your videos really make a person think. Oh, also "Ducati money" sounds about right because I always think Energicas look like electric Ducatis.
HAHA yep all my whole video's budget went into perfecting the art of kitten tracking, and compositing on realistic cardboard texture. You're right about Energicas looking like Ducatis! They have almost identical frames. I've heard some Ducati employees jumped over to Energica so it makes sense.
I enjoyed every minute of your video. The pace and amount of detail and amount of background music is perfect. Yes, the Energica leadership makes customer satisfaction a high priority and I think they are fantastic!
Super stoked for you guys. The RS treatment looks sick and hearing how they went the extra mile for Jen and her bike really makes the choice clear for me when I go to replace my SR/F. Energicar sounds like an awesome project and I can't wait to see more of it!
Thanks Combatspace! I appreciate it :D This tech is moving so fast that it's hard to keep up with all the improvements, but these should last us a long time.
One question for you Sam, after you have tested both the Ego and Eva: Do you think the Ego's riding position is much more agressive to the point it's not suitable for street riding, or it's fine but like having an Eva would certainly be more comfortable especially with the weight of the bikes and having an upright body position is much easier to stabilize than an ego?
Honestly I really liked the Ego's riding position, and it wasn't uncomfortable.. the roads here are just too narrow / slow / bumpy for a race bike, so it was too hard to control most of the time.
Oh nice to see those close ups of the new motor. You can clearly see how much material was shaved off of these. I've seen them IRL and never noticed as well as here.
Thanks! The weight difference is huge, and the power is too much for me 😂 I feel like it will take me years to build up the courage to turn traction control down.
@@NewZeroland when you’re back down in the 03 ( any part ) I’ll come ride with you!! I’ll be the one cruising around at the back of the line on my GS just enjoying life and occasionally pointing it up roads that aren’t really roads!
Alright now I am officially sold on getting a Ribelle RS! I spoke to Tobin at AEMC the other day and they are in the process of getting the bike road approved in Australia at the moment!
Very cool guys, congrats! Also thanks for mentioning that they Aus dealers, I didn't know we had them potentially available this side of the ditch. I might just have to fly up to the Gold Coast so I can ride it home back to Adelaide!
Congrats on the bikes (and a half 😂)!! It is so good to see the improvement Energica makes (but for now I stick to my 2017 EVA - no need for another one and after 5 years it's still running smooth and the battery is still 100%) I also make the comparison with Ducati. Same specs, same price. If one can afford a Panigale - that's the same price as a Ribelle. I wish you both a lot of happy Km's on the new bikes (and well, yes, ok, also with the Honda 😅)
Absolutely awesome Italian stuff! Congratulations to both of you legends🇮🇹🎄 So happy you went we these beautiful rockets 👍! Can’t wait to see your new experience of new journeys!
Great bike, I’m not sure I could live with that particular noise though. I prefer the sound of the Zero, but screw Zero and their lack of DC and app activated upgrades that are already on the bike you’ve paid for
That's awesome, I wish there was more incentives for electric motorcycles like there are for cars in NZ. I have been building an electric motorcycle for a while based in the lower North Island, I'm basing it off an ME1616 (similar to zero but water cooled). would be awesome to hear your thoughts with your experience so far, especially now you have a build of your own.
Whoa! Whereabouts are you? And what frame are you using? Or did you start totally from scratch? I'd love to see your build. Email me any time: mistasam@gmail.com
I'm going to see Rob at Energica of NE on Tuesday and hopefully pick something out, if not I'll most likely be ordering a spec'd out one like you guys did, thanks for the content, you really helped me make my mind up between these and a Zero.
@@NewZeroland Rob had a fully loaded Ribelle RS, with all his options as well, LED signal, extended pegs, brake stopper, bar risers, full 3M paint coating. Picking it up this weekend.
@@NewZeroland I took it for a ride and fell in love instantly, the heated grips were a nice surprise because it wasn't that warm out, the power delivery was amazing, gonna need to get used to not reaching for a clutch lever lol. Thank you again for helping me make this decision, I've owned a lot of bikes and this is by far the coolest one yet.
@@busaman1444 dude that's so cool to hear! I'm really glad you liked it. Electric is a different world and the only way to understand the appeal is to ride one. Do you have any road trips planned?? That's a whole other fun part of it.
Do you know if it's possible to add the keyless system to the other bikes? From their configuration tool it looks like it's only for the Eva Ribelle, is it right? (And for 400 €, ugh...)
Awesome bikes - congrats to you both! I have had Energica's online order form for this bike as a wall paper for the last six months, dreaming about it on a daily basis. I am keen to learn more about the riding position on these. I think the Ego is too aggressive for my old bones, and was looking at the SS9 first. But the Eva is so much more beautiful in my eyes! I hope to meet you in the road in Wellington one day and have a chat about it.
Absolutely! The SS9 is definitely more comfortable, but they sell bar-risers for the Eva if that's the styling you're into. Hopefully Energica opens up a dealership here in NZ to make it easier to get them.
@@NewZeroland I was thinking of a quote: " the future is already here, it's just not evenly distributed" (William Gibson). Which is true since one household has 3 quarters of all Energicas in NZ 😁
Congratulations! Looking forward to watching new adventures on your bikes. Love my ribelle rs. Also, we're getting a supercharger in Cedar Rapids now. Won't charge my ribelle though. Great times ahead!
Congrats on the sweet bikes! 😃 I'm stoked to see more videos (especially road trips) while I dream about getting a motorcycling license, gear and skills needed to handle all that power in the future. One day!
Energica's are the best EV bikes yet (the LS-218 is better but nearly twice more expensive and the Triumph TE-1 is coming, way more dealerships), but unlike EV cars, EV bikes real life performance are still not better than ICE bikes. The Energica RS models (10.7 seconds) are as quick on quarter mile as an GSX-S1000 (for 12000 USD new). An 7000 USD 2005 GSX-R1000 and old 207hp ZZ1400 (9.4 to 9.6) obliterate the Energica by a second on a quarter mile, by 0.3 seconds from 0-60mph, and especially in handling and on a race track. And a Brock Performance S1000RR with over 210whp obliterates the quarter mile in 8.72 seconds (even faster than a Tesla Plaid). I wish Energica much success, especially to make lighter more energy dense batteries, maybe ultra reliable faster charging solid state batteries.
I’m going to be in Moorseville NC for all of April. Energica has their headquarters there. I’ll go for a ride and see what this is all about. Maybe I’ll sell my Zero for one. I’ll also take a ride on the Livewire. BTW: my wife took delivery of her Model Y. We are now an electric ⚡️ only household.
Whoa nice!!! Congrats 😁 In my opinion the Livewire is a perfect upgrade from a Zero. It has the same feel, but with better components and DC charging. The Energicas are a totally different beast, and I'm excited to hear what you think of them.
Be Interested to see how you get on with the charge point. Only proble. I see with the Rivelle is having to lift the back of the seat on a road trip if you have luggage on the back seat. Its going to be really annoying having to remove the luggage just to charge the bike.
@@descb600f maybe if you strap stuff to the seat itself, it would all just rotate back. Or to the sides of the bike. There are lots of mounting points on the frame. That would be an interesting challenge. One cool thing with electrics is that you can leave the tank bag on when you refuel.
@@NewZeroland Thanks; and this way you know I watched right to the end. I'm committed to buying an electric for my next bike and your channel is part of the reason. I've got a deposit on a Damon just in case it actually turns into something (and by the time it's out hopefully Australia will have turned the corner on electric chargers) but I'm going to look at one of these now that I can see one in the metal.
@@TonyScott896 nice! Yeah check out AEMC and test ride some Zeros and Energicas. They'll be able to do servicing for the bikes too. I'm still really skeptical that Damon will be able to deliver, especially after they used a Ducati in their video 😂 but here's hoping. If you meet Tobin at AEMC tell him Sam says hi 😁
Thank you so much!, You have been instrumental in my decision to purchase a Ribelle RS. One problem I'm short. Could you give me details on lowering, parts etc thanks
Hey Kevin! I'll have to get the details from the Energica guys, but they adjusted the suspension dampening and Corbin put shorter foam in the seat. I've heard there are shorter rear springs too, but not sure where to get them. See what your nearest Energica dealer can do. Good luck!
Hey hey, I’m moving from Europe to NZ… do you think there is interest if I fill up the shipping containers with Eva’s? Figured, if we have space left we could make some people happy 😊
Congrats! Man, I really wanted to get a Ribelle RS. But that price was just out of my reach. I did get a 2021 Livewire One though! Picked it up yesterday. Going from a 2018 Zero S 13.0 to the LW1 is insane as far as torque goes. I can't believe it was still pulling while approaching triple digits. My Zero would start petering off at like 65-70. But I plan on shooting for that Ribelle RS in a couple of years. I can't wait to see all the content and good footage you guys get from these. If I make it to NZ, let's swap bikes for a day! 😅
Dude nice!!! No joke, the Livewire was definitely our second choice, but the price difference was swapped here. We couldn't afford one. The build quality and acceleration is really amazing on both. Congrats to you too! Definitely come visit :D
@@NewZerolandFor my first motorcycle ever would you recommend the zero or energica? My range would be 25-35 mile round trip. My area has lots of traffic of people that can’t drive unfortunately so getting a really fast bike could be scary 😧
It's the reduction gearbox that makes the noise. The gearbox is there because the motor is too big to fit directly in line with the rear wheel (like Zeros) but also so it can spin in an opposite direction to the wheels. That counters the gyroscopic effect and makes handling feel amazing. Straight cut gears are what make the sound so loud, and they're the most efficient type of gears. They use a chain instead of a belt because their history is in racing. It's easier to swap sprockets and make adjustments on the fly, and everything is easily available. Belts are custom for that specific bike, and you can only buy them from the manufacturer. If the belt snaps and you don't have a spare with you, it takes forever to fix. I'm a fan of the Star Wars / jet sound Energicas make, but I know some people hate it.
@@NewZeroland thanks for your reply, this wouldn't be the type of motorcycle for me. I have a hub motor driven scooter very quiet and energy efficient and fast too . Can make a wheely😁 About belts, they're maintains free and go for long time well longer than a chain anyway. The belt on my petrol (gv650) bike is still good after 8 years but I want to convert it to electric, also hub motor. 🤟
Comparing this to other bikes. Clearly these are the best bikes for the money. I don't need or really want all that power. But I realize that that makes the bike more useful and hold more value. Can it be setup to behave like a reasonable mid size bike rather then the superbike it is? Also what are you thoughts on it's build related to weather etc? I basically want to use mine as a get around the city bike with the occasional trip out in the country. I think that sort of puts me closer to the smaller Zero's. I wish they had better designers.
Great questions! Yep, power can be adjusted. There are 4 riding modes and also 4 levels of regen, so it can feel like a super bike or a more tame street bike. If you're thinking about riding in the rain and doing road trips, I would suggest staying away from Zero 😂
Woohoo! Fantastic news and as always a great video. So pleased you guys and gals managed to get a bike - each! Fully electric family now. I've been buying a load of ICE bikes last week and going to lock them away.. I think they will become collectors items when the bottom falls out of ICE bikes :)
@Sam, There should be two small combination locks in a small pocket in the inside top of each saddle bag. Though they are low security, I still use them anyways :)
Ahh, great first video on the Ribelles/Ribelli! Great to see how they looked after you both so well in terms of what you wanted. You just had to have that extra 0.2 seconds over Jen though, eh? 😂 Have you approached the guys in Modena and offered the stick-on Blu Tack kittens as a possible extra? Things have been delayed a little for three of us in the UK waiting for our new arrivals due to the production line expansion, but I can wait. Looks like middle of next month now. In the meantime, I'm still enjoying my DSR while I still have it. General gripes about Zero themselves as a company aside, that's been a great bike. Will be sad to see it go 😭. But I'm sure the replacement will cheer me up! 👍😁
Haha I should send some stickers over to them! It will be worth the wait, for sure. I still love riding my Zero (shh don't tell anyone it didn't actually explode lol) but every time I jump on it, it feels a little bit smaller and more like a kid's bike. You probably won't get that feeling with the DSR, but my SR is tiiiny compared to the Ribelle. Hope you won't have to wait too much longer!!
The energica web site says that the new motor requires less maintenance than before. Do you know what those new maintenance intervals are? I'm having trouble finding resources online. Thanks! At least here in the US the energica dealer network is much more sparse than the Livewire one so I'm a bit conflicted between the two. I don't have the facilities to do fluid swaps myself but they don't seem to need to be done very often. For example the live wire needs it every 20k after the break in service
Yep! The difference is pretty huge. I found this on their site: "Transmission oil is now changed only every 30,000 km/18,600 miles and Motor/Inverter coolant every 45,000 km/28,000 miles." That's a whole lot of riding without worrying about doing anything with the motor.
@@NewZeroland wow that's great! I guess the chain is pretty much the only additional wear item over the live wire, and the prices are similar but with much more range with the same charge time. Might be worth the extra trip to buy the energica
Cheers man! Oil changes and chain maintenance I go myself (I shot a video about how to change the oil, and it seriously took 5 minutes). If something breaks, I just email Energica for parts. It's too easy!
@@jose-alberto-salazar-jimenez haha I don't think so, because all the other owners I've talked to have had the same experience. It's just a cool company!
@@NewZeroland Nice. Now I have a new year's goal (for which year exactly, don't know yet haha).... An Energica. Thanks for the content man, great stuff!
Thanks Bert! Yep haha, definitely smug mode. The gas prices just keep going up and I don't see them coming down anytime soon. Maybe I'll ride over to a free charging station for the ultimate smug photo opp 😂
@@NewZeroland yeah, I know the feeling. We're an all EV household with solar panels and fuel prices here in Belgium have just gone over 2 euro a liter. They see me rollin... You know the rest.
did energica lower the bike for Jen? ive been told they wont do it because it wont be street legal in Australia, i know your in NZ and there maybe different restrictions but any info would be appreciated.
Yep, and there are a few ways to do it. You can buy shorter springs, but Energica only adjusted the factory suspension. It's a new bike so there's no way of any certifier knowing what was done to it lol.
Congrats to both of you! Gorgeous bikes. Now I will tell you from a perspective of having Solar and TSLA power walls, I want 240V charging as there is no DC fast charging around me and it is much cheaper to charge at home, it is the main reason why I did not get the livewire! Now on the energica, did you say they can't charge at 240V either?
Only the AC Tesla destination chargers, but that's too slow to be worth it. In a few countries in Europe they've opened up the superchargers for everyone to use, so I'm hoping they do that here too!
WOOT! Excited for you guys, and for the upcoming videos! I really want to replace my Yamaha R1 with an Ego RS or maybe the Damon Hypersport if it ever happens. Here in BC, Canada we're finally getting enough 50kW DC charging stations to do my favorite 600km day trip with no stretches over 110km! I'll be able to rip the whole way! :) I'm very interested in highway range and what speeds/ranges are realistic for spirited road tripping? Based on my FXS and my riding style, I'm hoping for 150-160km range (100%-0%) cruising at kitten km/h :P
Thanks man! Haha I can't speak to kitten speeds because cops enforce the speed limit here like crazy. On the highway we're stuck around 100, so if you do that you should get around 200km of range. More if you tuck, but yeah less if you're spirited 😂 The power on the new bikes is mental. Your R1 has a higher top speed but that instant torque on the Energica is unlike anything else. I think you'll like it!
@@NewZeroland "the Energica is unlike anything else" Energica 215Nm of torque, Triumph Rocket 3R 221Nm Energica 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds, K5 GSXR1000 2.35 sec, DiavelS in 2.5, Z1000 in 2.5, S1000RR stock in 2.6 (but sub 10 seconds normal and sub 9 seconds quarter mile by Brock performance, while the Energica is at 10.7 sec). Top Liter bikes are mostly not for 0-60mph or quarter miles, their real power is for race tracks and for mile long drag races or 80 to 186mph accelerations and 0-200kmh times in sub 8 seconds where the Energica needs 15 seconds for 0-200kmh, in comparison in the same 15 seconds for 0-200kmh the new Fireblade does 0-299kmh and a H2R 399kmh in 16 seconds. But that's for performance, most of the time in the real daily life world a 0-60 in 3.5 to 4 seconds and 90 mph top speed is what most people need, and with a real world 300km charged in 5 minutes would be an amazing future hopefully to come EV bike.
Hi Sam, Iʻm one of your subscribers and purchased and received the Ribelle like your wifeʻs. Iʻm short and need to have the bike lowered, too. Can you tell me who you contacted to have this done. I have asked my dealer about this and they have been looking into this as well. Thanks much.
Hey, yep! It was lowered by the Energica team in San Francisco. From what they've told me, they dropped the rear preload all the way down and had the seat foam shaved by Corbin. That got about an inch or more off the height of her bike. Hopefully that helps!
Hahaha cheers man! It is. I went in there to shoot parts of this video but just ended up staring at the bikes, and how all the parts fit together. They're works of art!
Very cool. How’s the fit on your bike considering you appear to be 6’ or taller? I went with Zero SRS 2 years ago partially because I’m 6’4” and there aren’t that many models that accommodate tall riders, especially EV.
@@NewZeroland With higher handle bars & lower foot pegs, the geometry on SRS is more relaxed and upright and generally better for taller folks than other Zero models. Plus I had a taller seat installed at dealership. I’m jealous of your Energicas and will consider this brand when my time on the Zero is up. Probably not for another 2-3+ years though.
The engine is liquid cooled but the battery isn’t, right? People on other boards were bellyaching that being air cooled is bad for long term battery health due to heat or something.
@@NewZeroland gotcha. What sold you on the ribelle over the ss9? Since all three bikes have the same mechanical parts do you think enérgica would sell an ss9 RS (or ribelle RS) flashed with the ego RS firmware? @@crankyoldenstein3467 will do! I'll try and get shots of how different the bikes are. We went with the Ribelles mostly because of styling, but they also have the same full power of the Egos. Gooood question.. I'll have to measure it, but it's over an inch shorter than stock. They adjusted the preload and potentially lowered the rear spring. I'm not entirely sure, but it's awesome.
And your Dad might even save up and buy one too !!! With gas prices over $5.00 a gallon and rising the bikes with now a normal gas bike’s range are paying for themselves !!!
Thank you! A service manual exists but it's the same deal as Zero.. some stuff isn't possible to do without the tools and training of an Energica technician.

You might want to rename the channel to New ZEvaland or something hahaha Btw, I have to get one of those cats for sure :D How heavy are they compared to your old Energica? I remember you saying that it was super heavy.
Thanks man! I love the new bikes.. everything about them has been improved. They've lost over 20kg and the weight was mounted lower, so they feel a waaay better and easier to ride. Combine that lower weight with a more powerful motor and the acceleration is NUTS!

Everything you said in this video makes sense, Sam, but there is one 'elephant in the room' or perhaps we should call it 'a caterwauling kitten'. That's the shrieking sound of those straight-cut gears. I think it might drive me crazy after a while...
Yeah those gears divide a lot of people. I think Energica wanted to replace the sound of an engine with something just as loud, and that has helped sway gas bikers to make the jump to electric. Not everyone likes totally silent bikes. That said, I still like the sound of Zeros and Livewires more. You draw too much attention on the Energica!
Haha yeah people either love it or hate it. Energica engineered that sound on purpose so it wasn't totally silent. You're right, with straight cut gears.
Wow... How I look forward to new videos!!! 😄 Currently I ride a Zero SR/S and was able to ride an Energica EsseEsse9 the other day. Already a nice machine. Zero as a manufacturer annoys me so much. A recall last year and I had it done in March. I was contacted by Zero in December to do the (completed) recall ASAP. Otherwise they will shut down my Zero. And they write this to me while I have a seasonal license plate: March - November. They have already de-registered my account. The Zero later also!!!! I could puke... 🤬 I will soon also test the Eva Ribelle. If it's good for me and I get a good offer.... Goodbye Zero! PS: However, the Eva Ribelle has been on the market for quite a long time and with the new team, a successor model could soon appear...?
Wow that's horrible!! Aw man, sorry to hear about your experience with Zero. Customer service is so important! Yeah the Ribelle came out a while ago, but the new motor is only 6 months old. I don't think they will have a new motor for a while.
Oh yeah, conversion rates, I forgot, that's still nuts. I'm so happy to have my ego as my fast toy rather than my 600hp 10mpg GTO that I had 10 years ago, gas would cost more than the car
5:08 So the two Energicas and Tesla get kittens but the Honda Beat doesn't? Are you saying the Beat can't go fast? That it's inferior? I can't even... I'm literally shaking right now.

I loved the tapping the charger spout to get the last of the electrons out :)
Haha thanks 😂
Do you know anyone with a bike that looks like this and doesn't speed? I mean 90 percent of cars speed.

I enjoyed every minute of your video. The pace and amount of detail and amount of background music is perfect. Yes, the Energica leadership makes customer satisfaction a high priority and I think they are fantastic!
Thanks Mike! The way a company treats you is so important and I can't thank them enough. Glad you liked the video!

It is so good to see the improvement Energica makes (but for now I stick to my 2017 EVA - no need for another one and after 5 years it's still running smooth and the battery is still 100%)
I also make the comparison with Ducati. Same specs, same price. If one can afford a Panigale - that's the same price as a Ribelle.
I wish you both a lot of happy Km's on the new bikes (and well, yes, ok, also with the Honda 😅)
Haha great point Rick! If your bike is still running great, no need to upgrade. Thanks and hopefully we can shoot a bunch of fun videos with these 😁
What spools are those? I have the first RS delivered in USA and have about 10,000 miles so far but lubing the chain is a pain without spools. Thanks
Energica spools I think, but other ones will work if you have enough spacers. I thought the RS models came with spools!
Absolutely awesome Italian stuff! Congratulations to both of you legends🇮🇹🎄

Do you know if it's possible to add the keyless system to the other bikes?
From their configuration tool it looks like it's only for the Eva Ribelle, is it right? (And for 400 €, ugh...)
Good question. The keys have chips inside so it might be tricky to do with a universal kit.
I LIKE IT!! I was hoping you'd take the bike up Hungerford Rd to test the torque. Congrats to you both for the bikes.
Oh man, that's a steep one haha. This bike would probably flip over. It was to flip over already O_O

@@NewZeroland When I have the money and I'm not in a transitory place in life, I will! 😄
Awesome. Appreciate the overview of the bikes.
Thanks! I'll be sure to do a long term review in a few months, and lots of range tests and other videos in the meantime.
Be Interested to see how you get on with the charge point. Only proble. I see with the Rivelle is having to lift the back of the seat on a road trip if you have luggage on the back seat. Its going to be really annoying having to remove the luggage just to charge the bike.
That's the reason for saddle bags. I don't think I'll strap anything to the back of the seat, but probably a tank bag instead.
@@NewZeroland yeah two weeks camping won't work. Tent and sleeping mat across back seat normally.
@@descb600f maybe if you strap stuff to the seat itself, it would all just rotate back. Or to the sides of the bike. There are lots of mounting points on the frame. That would be an interesting challenge. One cool thing with electrics is that you can leave the tank bag on when you refuel.
How did I not know that there was an Energica dealer less than 100 kms from my house? I'm going to be checking these out for sure.

Good luck!

@@NewZeroland how much was the 2022 Ribelle? I can’t find a price on their website. I think I might get one..
@@charismaticrell4206 It's around $23k usd depending on the options you want.
@@NewZerolandFor my first motorcycle ever would you recommend the zero or energica? My range would be 25-35 mile round trip. My area has lots of traffic of people that can’t drive unfortunately so getting a really fast bike could be scary 😧
@@charismaticrell4206 I'd suggest finding a used Zero SR or FXS for that. Those would be the cheapest and best for commuting. Also really lightweight.
What makes all that noise, chain gearbox or motor? Why they don't use a belt for drive, less noise ware etc.
Can make a wheely😁
About belts, they're maintains free and go for long time well longer than a chain anyway.
Thanks man! That's not a bad idea. Soon there won't be many ICE bikes on the road anymore and the cool classics will be worth BANK.
@Sam, There should be two small combination locks in a small pocket in the inside top of each saddle bag. Though they are low security, I still use them anyways :)
Great idea! We'd probably take them off the bike at night anyway, but during the day that would be helpful.
Ahh, great first video on the Ribelles/Ribelli!
Great to see how they looked after you both so well in terms of what you wanted. You just had to have that extra 0.2 seconds over Jen though, eh? 😂
Have you approached the guys in Modena and offered the stick-on Blu Tack kittens as a possible extra?

Nah the video makes it seem a lot louder than it is. I should have recorded it with a better mic.
Oh yeah, great point. They charge at 3kW AC at whatever voltage/amp combo puts out that much, so a full charge would be about 6 hours at home.
@@NewZeroland I hate to say it but in my case that makes a Zero a better buy if they r charging at 5-6kwh AC ...
Can you use tesla chargers on the Energica bikes?
Only the AC Tesla destination chargers, but that's too slow to be worth it. In a few countries in Europe they've opened up the superchargers for everyone to use, so I'm hoping they do that here too!
WOOT! Excited for you guys, and for the upcoming videos! I really want to replace my Yamaha R1 with an Ego RS or maybe the Damon Hypersport if it ever happens. Here in BC, Canada we're finally getting enough 50kW DC charging stations to do my favorite 600km day trip with no stretches over 110km! I'll be able to rip the whole way! :)
I'm very interested in highway range and what speeds/ranges are realistic for spirited road tripping? Based on my FXS and my riding style, I'm hoping for 150-160km range (100%-0%) cruising at kitten km/h :P
Thanks man! Haha I can't speak to kitten speeds because cops enforce the speed limit here like crazy. On the highway we're stuck around 100, so if you do that you should get around 200km of range. More if you tuck, but yeah less if you're spirited 😂 The power on the new bikes is mental. Your R1 has a higher top speed but that instant torque on the Energica is unlike anything else. I think you'll like it!
@@NewZeroland "the Energica is unlike anything else"
Energica 215Nm of torque, Triumph Rocket 3R 221Nm
Energica 0-60mph in 2.6 seconds, K5 GSXR1000 2.35 sec, DiavelS in 2.5, Z1000 in 2.5, S1000RR stock in 2.6 (but sub 10 seconds normal and sub 9 seconds quarter mile by Brock performance, while the Energica is at 10.7 sec).

Hey, yep! It was lowered by the Energica team in San Francisco. From what they've told me, they dropped the rear preload all the way down and had the seat foam shaved by Corbin. That got about an inch or more off the height of her bike. Hopefully that helps!
Ok before I start the video I gotta say it must be an amazing feeling to open your garage and see these bikes... Jelly donuts all day brother!

Hey Sam. How exactly was the bike lowered by Energica?
They adjusted the preload and put a shorter Corbin seat on it.
Very cool. How’s the fit on your bike considering you appear to be 6’ or taller? I went with Zero SRS 2 years ago partially because I’m 6’4” and there aren’t that many models that accommodate tall riders, especially EV.
Oh wow, I thought the SR/S was shorter! I'm 6'2 and this one fits me perfectly, but I have longer legs / lanky build so it all depends.
Does anyone know if motorcycle can carry a passenger?
Yep, they have passenger pegs
The engine is liquid cooled but the battery isn’t, right? People on other boards were bellyaching that being air cooled is bad for long term battery health due to heat or something.
Yep true, but nah, at the moment no motorcycle batteries are liquid cooled, and fast charging doesn't negatively affect battery health.
@@NewZeroland gotcha. What sold you on the ribelle over the ss9?

@@crankyoldenstein3467 will do! I'll try and get shots of how different the bikes are. We went with the Ribelles mostly because of styling, but they also have the same full power of the Egos. @@NewZeroland That makes sense. Thanks again, man. I’ve been trying to decide between the ribelle and the ss9. I can’t find any in my area so I’m living vicariously through your channel. From pictures, the ss9 riding position looks more like what I learned on but the ribelle is sexy.
You and Lex have basically sold me an enérgica. I just gotta figure out which one.
@@crankyoldenstein3467 I am also trying to decide between the SS9 and the Ribelle. I haven't seen any examples of the 2022 SS9 with the new EMCE on video... Would be nice to find a comparison.
Hey i have one question, how much do you pay to charge up in a station ?, p.s the bike looks amazing
Thanks! I haven't fully charged at a station yet but probably around $15-20. They're pretty expensive. We mostly charge at home for around $3.
sorry to bug you with questions but what was the seat height of your partners bike after lowering? im only 5 foot 6 and would like to know so i can tell the dealer what seat height i need lol (im interstate from the energica dealer and cant get to the showroom so im getting it delivered) cheers :)
Yeah, seriously. Gas prices are only going up, so time to get solar panels and make our own power!
Hi Sam's dad!
Great video, thanks. Hopefully there is an actual Service Manual unlike Zero. Congrats
Thank you! A service manual exists but it's the same deal as Zero.. some stuff isn't possible to do without the tools and training of an Energica technician.
As I said before, I sold my SR. I probably won't buy another electric util they run with solid-state batteries.
Enjoy those two bikes. I see a ton of quality in them.
Awesome stuff!
so jealous! I need to go back to electric! on Energica! DC fast charging FTW, of course.
Yeah man!! The crazy torque and smooth ride is so addictive. You know you need one :D
and now I'm sad. went and looked at the site, configured a few bikes. I shouldn't have done that. I wonder what body parts I could sell to get $25K...
Wow i just love your videos now I am a bit confused I live in the Netherlands and we have a great charging network I like Zero bikes but they don’t have fats change so was looking towards Livewire and now after this video I think Energica is maybe good what would you recommend I want the bike for commuting and then its my only bike for touring as well so loved your partners bike with bags and windshield and keyless was cool so if i can only have one and I have the budget for all which would you chose I really like the bikes in this video I been riding big bikes for last 35 years mainly BMW 11150 then 1200 RS and Honda varedo as well i am like skid in a candy store but want something I can ride and charge like the Livewire and energica
Haha awesome man! If there's an Energica dealer in your country or somewhere nearby in Europe, definitely go on a test ride. The bikes are amazing, and if you have lots of charging stations, touring is easy! 😁
@@NewZeroland thanks so the Energica is the way to go many thanks for the help and advise loved your aprils fools trick on Zero :-)
I was secretely hoping it to be energica, but you went out and evne bought another one and a half!
You also made me laugh out loud with the "last bits" at the charger and the stick on kittens =D
Hahaha thanks man 😂 Glad ya liked it! They had to be Energicas. There was no other logical option haha.
And here I’m still rolling around on my old school 11.5 Zero SR in South Africa commuting 100kms a day
Not a bad way to go! I've heard import tax there is a killer for new bikes, so your Zero is still one of the best options.
Legend! Keen to see you guys riding these bikes! The wife is very happy and I’m happy for the two of you!
I was right!!!! Congrats on the Ribelle!
Haha thank youu!!
What would it truly take for you to get back on a Zero?
For Zero to care about their customers again 😂
@@NewZeroland lol, thats is the best answer.
Back in the club 👍
You know it!!
What's the speed DC charging?
Up to 24kW
Woow, these bikes look so cool! I love this naked style so much more over your previous Energica.
They tick all the boxes... Fast charging, style, range. You might want to rename the channel to New ZEvaland or something hahaha
Btw, I have to get one of those cats for sure :D
How heavy are they compared to your old Energica? I remember you saying that it was super heavy.
Thanks man! I love the new bikes.. everything about them has been improved. They've lost over 20kg and the weight was mounted lower, so they feel a waaay better and easier to ride. Combine that lower weight with a more powerful motor and the acceleration is NUTS!
@@NewZeroland How is the weight difference between you and Jens Bike? Did either of you get any of the custom options like the BST carbon rims that might’ve reduced the weight a bit further? I’m curious how Jen feels about her bike given that you mentioned that she had trouble with your last Energica that was pushing like 650lbs.
Also I have no idea if Energica is sponsoring you or not but I definitely put in a deposit on one of their bikes due highly in part to your content! You’d make a bomb brand ambassador!
@@stephenking5159 whoa awesome!! Which one did you go with? No sponsors, just cool people 😁 And Jenn is probably 10lbs lighter than me, but the bikes are now supposedly 595lbs, with all the heavy stuff mounted lower. It's crazy how good they feel. I'll get Jenn to shoot her own review video of it soon.
@@NewZeroland I was on the phone with Laurence for like a half hour- hour just talking about bikes, his thoughts, experiences and knowledge. Really cool and patient guy. I also spoke with Tom. They’ve got some awesome people at the U.S. office. I went with the Eva Ribelle in red with some of the carbon accessories and the keyless model because, I’m going to treat myself lol.
That’d be awesome to see a Jenn review. I think that it would be beneficial for shorter riders and for those to get an idea of the difference between the Eva Ribelle and the Ribelle RS model from a second point of view. Also I need to see what the bags look like on the bike and get an idea of their quality. Those bags aren’t cheap!
@@stephenking5159 NICE!! Yeah man, Laurence is awesome. Instead of working with a dealership, you're talking straight with Energica employees. The parts guru / service guy Chris is an unparalleled wealth of info, and Stefano is the friendliest dude 😁 You're in great hands! And yep I'll get Jenn on both bikes to get her thoughts, and actually show the bags on the bike haha. I'm more of a backpack person but the saddle bags would be great for longer trips.
How much did you say they cost?
Depends where you are. They're $23k usd.. I think €27k euros.. or like $45k nzd.
Great video Pal
Thank you!
another happy customer . . good vid
Cheers man!
Is it weatherproof while charging?
Yep!
@@NewZeroland awesome! 👍 Thanks!
Oh, wow. Nice pair.
Brutal to go for an RS too.
LW should had go with 22kW.
Thanks Jeff! I wonder how the Livewire would compare on a road trip actually. They charge at similar speeds and the range isn't toooo far off.
@@NewZeroland 10kW is pretty way less. I do like the bikes though.
Hello, I need your code watch. How can I buy it?
Code watch?

Nice, we get to have our own Kitten speed. :) I also wanted to start singing ....we dont talk about zero.ohohoh...we dont talk about zero. Okay....Well I'm very interested in Jens bike with the touring items. That and a re-set on long term range since the Zero exploded :P So does Energica want to give out a bike, I'll take a Ribelle. Really liked it after your channel introduced me to Energica. Even talked to a guy in my area who sells them, but he never shows up as a dealer on their site.
Hahaha NO JOKE, Jenn wants to do a whole parody song version of that!! I wanted to record a few seconds of her singing it for this video but she'll do a longer one :D Encanto was so good! There will be one more video with the Zero.. the final run. But yeah Energica range test is coming too!
I’m ahead of my time. Back when you were still riding the Zero and said you were thinking of upgrading I guessed that you’d get an Eva Ribelle.
It was totally the ultimate choice this whole time!
This is probably my favorite POV clip that gives a perspective of the 30-90mph acceleration of the Energica; the trees just turn into a blur.. and this is the older, less powerful Ego's performance. I couldn't imagine what the new EMCE's feel like with better weight distribution and moarrrr powwwwaaa!! th-cam.com/video/vhcXxh6GLHk/w-d-xo.html and go to 6:25 and watch through the next corner🤩.
Yesss! That was a great video. I need to try a chest mount to get more of the bike in frame.
congrats on the twin ribelles. I havbe the keyless option on my EsseEsse9+ RS as well, but i dont like it. Enjoy the two beauties and sorry for slacking watching your vids ;-P
No worries! I appreciate it. And yep my wife isn't a fan of the keyless already haha. It always seems to be out of range.
@@NewZeroland yehah. i was told front left side is the responder so keeping the key in your left jacket pocket should help....but for me it doesn't. So thankfully you can skip the alarm with the mode button...and keep riding :). I had no choice as mine was a demo that had it on it...io would not have ordered it with it. but yeah...hindsight right?

@@NewZeroland the key in the left pocket or the mode to cancel the alarm? hehe...for me only the mode works :P. KITTENS 😍😍😍😍😍
As you know I ride around the world on my bike.... but it could not be fixed anywhere as it was a BMW. You can only fix your bike if there is a dealer in the country it broke down
Bwahaha I guess we need that Russian bike from Long Way Round. That thing was unkillable.
@@NewZeroland ah ha ha the Little Red Devil 🤣 but yeah it was unkillable
Its good to see EVs being put across in a good way, so much bad/old info out there. CCS is a must have in the UK and as soon as the Tesla network opans up here Im going to need to order one, I may just ask for the Jen model lol
Thanks Grant! You're right that there are a lot of crap journalists but also crap electric motorcycles out there giving the whole industry a bad name. Hopefully I can show off how awesome these are!

Didn’t realise there had been so many updates to the Energicas. Looking forward to this next chapter in newzeroland. Oh, not the car though 😮🤣
Awwww no love for an electric motorcycle powered kei car???
I just like ⚡️ 🏍 period. Definitely want an energica 1 day.
Yeah man! Electric is crazy.
Super fun video. I’m looking forward to the trips and great videos.
And bikes for people 5’5” tall. Vegetas of the world want to ride too.
HAHA Jenn is channeling her inner Bulma
LOL Brah !! The kitens are best 👌🏼🤣 I love them ❤🐱
😂😹😼⚡🔋
3:45 hilarious
Awesome guys
Thanks Steve!
OOph, they gotta work on the sound it makes.. geez sounds like straight cut gears?
Haha yeah people either love it or hate it. Energica engineered that sound on purpose so it wasn't totally silent. You're right, with straight cut gears.
Wow... How I look forward to new videos!!! 😄
Currently I ride a Zero SR/S and was able to ride an Energica EsseEsse9 the other day.
I will soon also test the Eva Ribelle.
New Energicaland !
Dude, these bikes are cool.
Thank you sir!! When you come to visit, we will RIDE!
Is that $3/L? If so, that's like almost $12/gallon
Yep, up to $3.36 now.. so translated to USD it's over $7/gal
Oh yeah, conversion rates, I forgot, that's still nuts. I'm so happy to have my ego as my fast toy rather than my 600hp 10mpg GTO that I had 10 years ago, gas would cost more than the car
@@Magic_Toaster hahaha yeah I feel ya man. Smiles per miles, Energicas are the best!
